Toonz, you're going to have hiccups all along the way of a build. It can't be helped and best not to worry too much about them. Spend your energy focusing on a solution rather the problem. LoL, it'll keep you from going crazy.

its ok you and toonz are going through a lot atm I understand completely as my family is going through something similar and its so stress filled and just overall crazy that being said house looks SOOOOO GOOD from concept the black with stone and wood accents is so cool on the outside I love it

One warning I have for metal roofs is ,although the roof itself will last for like 100 years, they are installed with screws with a rubber washer to prevent water from seeping through but those rubber washers only last for like 10 or 15 years and after that every single screw that is holding up that roof can begin to leak

@@paulinoleal5592 Im not entirely sure if there is an alternative or not I just know thats the biggest complaint out there about metal roofs. There could be an alternative out there for that but Idk for sure

@@paulinoleal5592There's no real good alternative. You just have to contract someone to replace the rubber washers every 10 years. The screw and the rubber washer goes on top of the roof btw, its not underneath, so its just a process of replacing every screw with rubber washers. It takes awhile but again, you only have to do this every 10 years, so its not like it'll be costly.

There is special tint you can get that you can see out and it’s reflective to people outside like they use in hospitals. It would make sure you won’t have a creep but won’t cut down on sunlight inside or the view!

They live on many acres of land and their driveway is legit the longest driveway I've ever heard of... if they do tented windows then I'd say thats pretty over kill... the only place that would be understandable is the bedroom bathroom areas. The rest shouldn't be worried about.

The rest would be overkill I mean normal houses in neighborhoods don’t have tinted windows to see into normal places in the house but most bathrooms don’t have windows but their bathroom has many and the full wall of the shower you may want something to not worry about if you have family or friends over and you need a shower or possible creeps lol

My husband, son, and I have been watching you for years. You could post just about anything and we would watch it. 🥰 It’s nice to see y’all doing “normal” everyday things. Post what makes you happy and we will watch. Love y’all! 💕

For the shower with the windows in the corner, perhaps you could do switchable privacy glass aka smart glass. It's the glass that changes from clear to frosted and back with a button.

You guys should put a secret entrance into the theater or something, that would be sick. Like through a bookcase, giant painting, or a hidden panel

I would get a white marble or quartz counter top. It compliments the black so well

Content idea: designing a house is complicated with SO MANY things you have to decide on. Talk us through your process and maybe interview your designer so someone considering the same might know the minimum info/decisions they need to bring to the table, the gotchas, etc. People that haven’t done this can’t appreciate how hard this is and many of us won’t experience it first hand.

Structural engineer here, Luke: projects ALWAYS suffer setbacks and encounter unexpected conditions. If they all went smooth and straightforward I wouldn’t have enough workload to stay busy haha. All this has me wishing I knew you IRL; Acme Acres is gonna be great. I’m trying to buy my own acres (albeit not as many) in MI, so I’ll be sharing your joys and heartaches in spirit up here haha.

We've just bought some land (significantly smaller, but still exciting) and are waiting for the banks and lawyers to do their things. Every day feels like it's taking forever, but we know that soon we will get the title and suddenly there will be a rush of activity. It's how it is. Like doing a marathon, but you're on a rollercoaster. And it's dark, so you don't actually know which way the track is going to go. Also, there's another cart, with a guy with a huge sword like in Indiana Jones and .... Well, you get the idea.

This is a going to be a beautiful home! Remember to always go with your first mind and never second guess any choices you make. Your initial first thought or feeling of something will always be what will make you happiest. Love you guys 💕💕

I'm with Toonz on the metal walls, it looks so sleek 😎 can't wait to see the start of building, I know you two will be jumping for joy once things kick into action. Dealing with the bank sucks, not sure how it is with building a home, I know just buying a home it gets to be a nightmare 🙄 don't worry though I'm sure it won't be too much more waiting and then before you know it you'll see foundation being laid!

Its a super dope looking house, and i can appreciate the darker ascetic for the walls because new houses the have super bright white walls drive me insane

The walk out window idea is great! We’re building a (much less dope) house at the moment, and it went slowly at first but went from nothing to walls, shingles, and siding real quickly. Once it starts, it’ll move faster than you think!

Ain’t that the truth 😂 planning one of my houses took like 2-3 years but once the foundation was put down it lasted like 2-3 months before it was done entirely

Great layout, cant wait for the final building. Iv noticed some points that could help you. 1) The dark colors would actually store and let off a lot more heat then having lighter colors (your house will be very hot inside). Especially the roof, lighter colored roof sheets will reflex the heat rather then adsorbing. 2) Pocket doors will be hard to clean. Rather have those doors on the other leaf of the cladded wall. 3) Consider using cavity walls? This helps with insulation to keep the heat in and out during the year. 4) The drive thru, please check the height. Make provisions for a Van with a load? 5) Sustainable design. Important tips to have in a building such as yours. 6) Check out some tips on rain water harvesting, those high pitch roofs can collect a lot of water which you can use for the garden. 7) Check out some tips on passive cooling so you wont be dependent on the air-conditioning 8) How about having a section of your property for a game reserve with activities like archery, quad biking, climbing, etc. that would be exciting Take care and keep it up!

Honestly youre literally the first yt ive ever seen not want to show every detail of their home. It blows my mind how many ppl show their entire home. Everything looks great btw. I cant imagine how great it must be to build your dream home.

I am building a Shed to theater conversion on my property now. Big outdoor BBQ area with natural Texas rock. I had not thought of having that table in the theater. I love that idea.

Tip- I have seen this at a family member’s new house: put a water faucet coming out of the wall behind your stovetop to fill big pots with water!
