Twelve-year-old Dre Parker could have been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother's latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying but the cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make him an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han, who is a kung fu master. I still love this movie. They did such an amazing job with this remake. I remember when I went to the theater to see this it was so much more than what I expected!

I think the key reason is that its barely a remake. It takes some of the premise and a couple points and makes a new movie.

A very touching film, the training of the spirit and body turns a little bully into a real warrior who defeats his opponent with reason and skill and gets victory and respect...

Jaiden Smith and Jackie Chan could come back again (maybe just in a small cameo) and remind in Cobra Kai series 6 and then make The Karate Kid 2. Since all the characters from the original Karate Kid returned in the previous series and 6 season it has no one else to surprise, so the return of Jaiden and Jackie would be a great choice for me to revive the already slowly dying serial.
