Thank you for showing us options. It's unlikely that I will ever carry at 5 or 6 o'clock but good to know what is needed for that position.

I use an outside the waistband S.O.B holster in the 5 o’clock position. I find the most comfortable and most concealable way to carry.

I guess I carry at the 8 O’clock position on the left side is the most comfortable. I am right handed but can shoot either hand well up to 10 yards. The reason I carry on the left side because of a bad left hip and use a cane on my right side for walking and balance. I carry O W B with a shirt or jacket covering it for the most part. I was checking for videos for 4 or 8 O’clock carry. This video was very informative.

After doing ECQC classes, I decided to make 5 o’clock my go to. If you can pull your wallet out of your back pocket. You can pull your gun.

Use your thumb to hook your shirt and pull it up using a single hand so your hand is already open to grip the gun. It makes your shirt lift a little higher as well. Next time you try it use your thumb, bend it up in the shape of a hook with your hand open and ready to grip the pistol, then scrape up your side and hook under your shirt with an open hand. When you come down use your wrist and arm to slightly pin the shirt up to your side so you are free to remove your pistol. Works well for me.

If you discuss drawing from concealment while being mugged. Guess what bad guys look at when they rob you? Your waist and pockets asking for your phone and money… guess what they see as soon as you try to draw? Your gun! Guess what they can’t see when you draw from 5 o’clock? Your gun! Also guess what is easy for a robber to grab… your appendix carry gun. Guess what is almost impossible for a robber to grab? Your 5 o’clock carry.

i never see vids about 12 o'clock carry.. but seems like the only really comfortable position, as long as the gun's compact

Love your training videos, thanks Myles, you're an awesome trainer! I'm 5.9, 230 lbs. What would be the best position for my body type to carry a Glock 19 size pistol? I currently EDC the G26 at 3 o'clock. But that's still a challenge to conceal. Appendix carry just doesn't work with my belly. Not comfortable at all. Please help!!! Thanks Myles...

5 o’clock position means you can clear your garment with one hand while your weak hand defends/distracts.

4 inches is usually the max length that anybody around 5’7 to 5’10 can comfortably carry, especially on appendix or even 3 o’clock. Any longer and the barrel will start poking on the pants or your legs when you sit down, and you will have to constantly adjust it. That’s why most CCW pistol have around 4” barrel or less. 4.5” (even thought it’s half inch difference usually needs re-positioning when sitting). Also, 15 round mag/grip length is usually the max before the grip starts printing on the shirt, and you will have limited areas to carry it on your body if you got more capacity or longer grip.

Interesting, but I'm not sure a single handed draw is the most efficient. For me, I'm pulling up the garment with my off hand abd having the free hand go for a feee gun. The other alternative is to use a single hand just to go for the gun, garment clearing is not that difficult with training.
