Markell Hawthorne yeah, I’ve always been a dragon quest fan for most of my life. I’m not old enough to have played the originals, but I remember playing all the ds version releases and becoming a fan. But the moment I became a die hard fan was when my uncle gifted me a ps2 just so I could play 8, and to this day, 8 is probably my favorite DQ game, however 11 is just a hair less.

With them being in smash I can guarantee the number will go higher. EDIT: I MEANT DQ 8 SOLD 1.4 MIL OUTSIDE OF JAPAN. AS OF TODAY DRAGON QUEST 11 SOLD 800,000 COPIES OUTSIDE OF JAPAN.

I was really bummed when they didn't bring the 3ds version since that's all I had at the time and then I got the switch for Christmas and when they announced this for switch I was hoping they would bring it over and they did so all I had to do was wait lol

Ikr, as an all-life-pokemon fan i'm just so frustrated for the fact they didn't put enough effort on the game, i mean even in this game which is a newer edition of the same one has already big improvements compared to the previous one ... with pokemon ... i'm heartbroken right now, first pokemon game i won't buy right away and that's all out of dissapointment.

Dragon Quest is such an underrated franchise in the West... it's really great and stays true to itself, unlike Final Fantasy (although I love Final Fantasy just as much)

While I agree that Dragon Quest is far more superior nowadays, I have to say that especially Final Fantasy 5 to 10 (except 7 and 8 imo) are just wonderful games that are better than any Dragon Quest game (even though DQ 5, 8 and 11 are very great as well). But yeah, Final Fantasy died after 12 and the FF7 Remake looks shallow.

The first game ever confirmed to be on the switch is finally coming. It was worth the wait especially since we're getting the best version.

hecatomb well they did say that this version of the game was built from the ground up with the switch in mind so we will most likely have consistent 30 which for a game like this is honestly fine since it’s not very action intensive. If it ends up being 60 tho then consider me pleasantly surprised and impressed...

already pre-orderd the game. i have all the dq games (remakes then) 1 till 3 for game boy color, 4 till 6 on the ds, 7 and 8 on the 3ds, 9 on the ds again its the only version, 10 also (you can travel back to that world in this game) so yeah, the only thing i have to do now is wait. untill september

Theresa did a really good job here explaining everything she had really good knowledge about the series as a whole too it would have been better if the other co-hosts had the same enthusiasm

Dragon quest 11 is basically what Monster Hunter 4 ultimate which is to introduce more people to the series so that newcomers and veterans can be invested in playing future or older titles while still sticking to it's roots and expanding the fanbase and community.

I never played any dragon quest game before my whole life but this looks great tbh! Love the style think I'll pick it up day one,

My 1st was the DQ7 remake on 3DS. Tht entry made me fall in love with the series. Then I played the enhanced version of DQ8 on 3DS. I liked it but not as much as 7. (also played DQ Builders 1) So I cant wait to play this Definitive edition of 11. :3

I beat this game last year on ps4. Amazing adventure and characters especially Sylvando. I'm going to get this on switch just to replay it in retro mode 😍😍

I put over 160 hours in to this game last year on ps4, and I'm already looking forward to doing it all over again on the switch later this year. As far as I'm concerned this game was already a masterpiece and I can't wait to experience the mountain of new stuff in this edition. The between this the new manna game and countless other games the switch does seem to be the new home for fantastic rpgs.

That sabercat is a call back to DQ 8 (where that music plays when you ride him), and ultimately back to DQ 5 I think. I can't wait to ride him with the DQ 8 costume... AND listen to that DQ 8 music that I just saw in the menu! I can't wait!

I completely marked out when the orchestral soundtrack kicked in. This game is so amazing I can't wait to just replay it all over again

I so freakin hype after watching this!!!!!!!!! I platinumed XI on PS4, put in 300 hrs, and rate it 10/10 - and I will absolutely do it all again on Switch with these new features!!!! Just hearing the new English terms “Tockle” “Tickington” “Echo Chamber” “Pastword” - big things for someone as obsessed with the mythology as I am. The 2D version of DQ VIII with SNES midi music!!!!! And you can play with DQ VIII music!!! So so so much here!!! I’ll spend hours using photo mode!

Persona pretty much do that every release but they never get any complaints? i have not played the pc/ps4 version and i can't wait to play this on my switch. This will be my 1st dragon quest game.

Z A congratulations!!! For real, I’d say this is the best one in the series and the best version. Yeah I get some of the saltiness from people, but I don’t share it for two reasons 1) I freakin love this game to death, so buying it twice is not gonna feel bad 2) I knew the switch version was coming, and had high hopes it would be a super edition, and considered waiting for it, but I got the game on PS4 because it went on sale and I wanted to support the game and I was dying to finally just play it. I knew the consequences of my choice before I made it, in other words.

I 100% this game on ps4. Truly one of the best games ive ever played, took me back to days and days of jamming dq8 on ps2 when I was young. Best game Ive played recently aswell as Sekiro

I cannot wait for this. XI is one of the best games of all time.

Fun fact: the Pokémon franchise was inspired by Dragon Quest V with its monster collecting mechanics.

And it only took the DQ team three years since announcement to finish. Meanwhile, Nomura can’t even finish his damn games because he doesn’t know how to properly make an RPG. Always needing someone to do it for him.

If you like traditional turn based jrpgs you'll have a great time with any of the dq games. They are criminally underrated in America.

Honestly, I wanna give Dragon Quest XI a try; seeing all the good reviews, gameplay and even seeing 4 DQ characters in Smash, as playable fighters, further pushes my curiosity of this franchise.

From my knowledge, Luminary (or whatever) is from DQ11 and Erdrick is from DQ8; that is all I know.

Dragon Quest is better than Final Fantasy, change my mind.

I wasn't planning on buying this game again, since i already beat it on the ps4. But dang that 2d mode sold me!

I already played DQXI on ps4 but I am so excited for the switch version. I love the new features

I couldn't care less about Banjo. I'm so hyped for the DQ heroes in Smash, especially for the one from VIII.

I’m definitely putting on the DQVIII world map theme on when I play.... So much more relaxing and nostalgic:)

I played this on PS4 and I’m hella excited to play through it all again on switch

Changing outfits while keeping good stats, damn, wish the other editions had that.

The hero being added to Smash Bros. got me curious about this game, but with the demo out it has my full attention. It was so great that I know for sure I'll buy this day one.

These is just so much stuff jam packed into this game, love that Square and Nintendo put so much effort into making this version so unique and wonderful. There’s just so much fan service in here and call backs to the other legendary games in the series

holy wow they really put a lot of effort into this game. I have this on PC and this looks like its own version of the game. I'm really impressed. I think this is the best a game has looked on the nintendo switch.

THIS is how golden sun should be remade!

I've never played nor cared about DQ. But this game looks amazing. I need it now.

I just continued my journey of this game after I finished the demo. It is fantastic

The only thing I wished they added was that you could change controllable leaders instead of always android 17

I played the steam version, but will definitely pick up this one. Making it 2 play thrus on draconic mode with 2d and 3d. Hope u can marry Jade now! So excited!!!

Came close to buying this recently on PS4, glad I decided to hold off.

I loved this game so much on PS4! Can't wait to play it on the Switch too!

Dragon Quest XI S: has 40-60 hours story gameplay, the best characters, simple combat with layers of complexity, ability to play the entire game 2D/3D (both gorgeous), insane boss fights, passionate voice acting in 2 languages, fully orchestrated OST, post-game content, innovates itself & yet still remains true to itself. JRPG "fans": *pretend to have played Persona 5 because it has cool music* *play Pokémon Sw/Sh even though they complained about it for a year* *literally ignore DQ's entire existence*

I've been waiting for this game for soooooooooooo long. So damn happy to see this!

*patiently waits for September to come* I've been meaning to play more of this series; if only I had more free time to play RPGs... Dragon Quest III (or Dragon Warrior III, as it was called back in the day) on GBC was one of the first RPGs I played, even though I was really bad at it. I took a break from VII to play Tales of Vesperia but I enjoyed every minute of it. I really need to get back to it. I should pick up VIII on 3DS as well; I love taking my RPGs on the go.

Definitely one of the best games of this gen. I can’t wait to play it again on my switch.

While not the first Dragon Quest game that I have played, it will definitely be the first one I play since the Gameboy/Famicom. I can't actually remember which games on those platforms I have played, all I remember was the slime, so yeah, looking forward to playing this one

Holy shout! The game is excellent on PS4 and PC, but this Switch version... It will be perfection!

Buying it again just for the 8-bit graphics and the original music. Reminds me of the lovely DQ3 my all time favourite.
