The reveal to Baby might be one of the most insane sequence of events in Anime, let alone Dragon Ball. Remember the start of this lead up is the Para Para brothers stealing the Dragon Ball. Just to refresh, Para brothers steal Dragon Ball, this leads to Mutchy Mutchy, who is actually an underling to his whip, Mutchy, the true leader of the Luud cult. (not to be confused in the dub, which claims Mutchy Mutchy and Whip Mutchy are the same being.) Then things kind of start to get confusing. Cardinal Mutchy Mutchy is also an underling to Dolltaki, who is the true leader of the Luud Cult. Luud himself is almost a seperate thing in this, he's actually just a big machine made by Dr. Myuu. Dolltaki is also working on behalf of Dr. Myuu. In between Myuu and Dolltaki there's also Rildo, who is Dr. Myuu's general. This is all just leading up to introduce Baby, the true villain. So, it goes Para Para Brothers -> Cardinal Mutchy Mutchy -> Mutchy but also Dolltaki seperately, -> General Rildo -> Dr. Myuu -> Baby. And Luud is kind of just in there somewhere. Also that robot lion.

​@@Unotuchable I always assumed that was the part where the writers realized the this arc wasn't really panning out the way they intended so they hard pivoted into Baby without any real idea of how to get there. Unfortunately, they lacked the writing skills Toriyama had when he pivoted Androids 19 & 20 all the way into Cell. My theory is Luud was supposed to end with Whip Mutchy & Luud. Luud might have even originally been unrelated to Myuu honestly. Dolltaki was introduced as a clumsy way to intergrate the Dr. Myuu storyline. Just the entire premise that the entire Luud religion, on the planet Luud, was made from Myuu hiring Dolltaki years and years ago, and even though Luud is actually a real machine powered by all that energy, it was supposed to be transferred to Baby. It's all too convoluted to be intentional. Of course my memory is a little hazy from the last time I actually watched GT, so I might be missing something, but I honestly can't sit through that again.

I always saw Baby as just an amalgamation of all the big DBZ villains: Cell cuss he’s a mad science robot experiment, Frieza cuss he’s also space creature who hates the Saiyans, and Buu cuss he be gooey. Also Baby just kinda looks like Kid Buu but without his head prong thingy slicked back. I say all this while saying the Baby Saga was probably my favorite GT stuff.

You could argue that Frieza was an amalgamation of a bunch of prior villains himself: A diminutive dictator like Pilaf and Red, a deadly fighter who's signature move is a fingertip ki blast who loses to Goku then comes back as a cyborg for revenge (and then dispatched by someone else before his chance at revenge) just like Taopaipai, and an evil dark lord sitting on a throne and commanding some terrified underlings like King Piccolo.

I like the idea of the Tuffles being behind it all, and this turning out to be a revenge story against the saiyans. but I hate how they overcomplicated Myu. you JUST had to reveal he was a Tuffle and his obsession with Goku and Co. was seeking revenge for his race. and Baby was the conclusion of that obsession only to learn too late that Baby was too powerful to control and show that in his search for revenge, he destroyed himself.

I found the complication to be satisfying. He's not "just" a revenge crazed weirdo. He IS, but he went to a LOT of work building a small empire as a means to his end. the amount of work he put in was quite impressive.

It’s funny because when I first watched Sonic X Season 3 as a kid, I didn’t question anything. Then I rewatched the entire show. Aside from Chris being the most annoying thing in the show, S3 just made me ask what is going on with half of the seasons. Honestly I just feel like some things didn’t make any sort of sense to me.

13:17 This is the first and probably only instance where I've seen anyone refer to Baby as Mac Tonight. This is now information I have to live with.

What would have actually been funny is if when Goku was watching Pan dash after Trunks, he was jovially cheering along the entire time. And instead of looking distraught alongside Pan when Trunks’ slab shatters, he saunters up to her laughing like they were having fun and just says “you really dropped the ball on that one”. Pan looks up at him completely angered and devastated, but as she does, Trunks comes down the stairs. “You’re alive she exclaims!” And Goku just looks at her confused, like “of course he is? Couldn’t you sense his power level this entire time? I thought you were just having some fun with the robots.”

I kind of like that Baby revealed it to the doctor while the protags have no idea. Besides Baby wanting to stay hidden, it would have been rather clunky a reveal for them.

Wait are you telling me there's a non-zero chance that in Dragon Ball Super manga, Moro merging with the Earth is inspired by GT???

Not only that, but they do the cliche where one guy reveals their plan while the other faction has enough time to ruin their plan.

It also reminds me of old comics like gold and silver age where the cover would show some CRAZY thing happening. And the whole comic was basically setting up and explaining how that crazy thing happens.

8:19 from what I've heard, theres also a factor of people like to know where the story is going. I've heard people say knowing WHERE something's gonna end up lets them know what to expect so they dont get disappointed. Still weird to me; things surprising me is often what makes moments in shows or games STAND OUT to me and makes me remember them more fondly. If you're just gonna tell me "Goku gets put in a metal slab", then suddenly the fight doesnt have alot of weight because I know he has to be put into a slab at some point

My stance is "If knowing in advance what happens ruins the experience, then it wasn't good to begin with." This, however, does not mean that there's no value in a blind experience. My favorite example of this is "The Shawshank Redemption" where I love to watch my friends watch it for the first time. They get to see the story come together, I get to watch them see it come together, and sometimes I even get something new out of it that I didn't notice before.

Sure you can get a different kind of enjoyment from seeing hints or lead ups that you normally wouldn't have noticed if you didn't know who done it/that thing was going to happen, but it still robs you of the first experience of not knowing and being surprised at what happens or being able to try and guess what the twist or mystery is before the episode/movie reveals it, giving more of an impact on your enjoyment of something because it triggered that surprised emotion out of you be it happyness, sadness, anger, or excitement that you wouldn't have gotten because you saw that event coming. So while it might not ruin the different kinds of experiences you can have from a certain piece of media, it does ruin the blind experience and robs you of having it to begin with, which then robs you of the rewatch experience where you can pick up on the more subtle clues or foreshadowing that was leading up to it that you missed during the blind watch.

I like to image the reason they didn't stop him from trying to save baby is because they knew Goku wouldn't let them.

I noticed the spoiler thing watching someone play through dbz kakarot and experiencing the story of dbz for the first time. After the frieza saga the next time on dbz thing segment basically spoiled all the important characters of the next arc including cell.

An idea I had that would have helped with the power scaling and pacing of the show. 1) Have Goku drop back to his child power. He still has super strength, and his knowledge of techniques, but has to pace himself with energy. 2) Have Trunks use his power to recharge Goku over time. This gives a reason for Trunks to be weaker than he was before and rarely going Super Saiyan. 3) Keep Goku able to use Super Saiyan but it only lasts for a short moment and exhausts him afterwards. Putting that altogether means you don't need enemies with Frieza+ levels of strength, it gives Trunks and Pan reason to be there (being stronger than Goku in base form), and it makes powering up to Super Saiyan or even using the kamehameha an actual important decision because of the exhaustion afterwards. They can have the adventure like they wanted, and keep the action more about technique than raw power.

Goku, Pan and Trunks in GT are just too socially awkward to try killing, fighting or even restraining someone, even someone with ultra-malicious intent, unless they're directly trying to murder them. Goku out loud: "If you try anything against us, you'll regret it!" Goku's brain: "Man I sure hope he falls for the reverse psychology! I wouldn't wanna be known as the guy who beats up pacifists"

That McDonald commercial bit was the highlight of this video for me.

Those shots of Rild and Goku staring back and forth is exactly the kind of thing non anime fans use to talk smack about anime as a medium. And it comes from Dragonball of all franchises. That kind of hurts.

Baby might be an interesting villain overall, but no, this halfassed origin of Baby somehow giving birth to himself via Mu might just be the stupidest part of GT.

I do not think we are meant to believe that he gave birth to Myuu so much as he must have ran into him and infected him somehow prior to GT's events and used him to create the new improved form that he found himself in, kind of like how he will use Bulma later on to become a Golden Oozaru.

That epic foreshadowing at the end. I cant wait to see yalls reactions to how Rild is dealt with.

Rewatching GT with you guys has been much more enjoyable than the chore that was watching Super all the way through. This has made me come to realize that GT was far more entertaining, despite its flaws. It's not good, but at least it isn't Super.

I think its called rolos basilisk. It's a super intelligence that would torture any one who knew of its potential existence or didn't otherwise help create it or enhance it. I'd never thought of it before. But baby is basically a rokos basilisk. Kinda.

"The worst you could find!! "Were going to watch GTFS!! "And try not to loose our mind!

Controversial opinion maybe, but if any villain from GT deserves to be canonised in some way, it would be Baby. Yeah, he's a little too reminiscent of Cell, but the concept of him essentially being the Saiyans' bloody history coming back to bite them in the arse is pretty cool. And there *is* some nuance to the idea too that I wish had been explored. Like, yeah, the Saiyans only recently changed their morality. Hell, it took Vegeta *years* to finally turn over a new leaf. But at the same time, they've alredy been punished. They're on the verge of extinction because of Frieza and most of the Saiyans currently alive are either genuinely good people who have no connection to their race's violent past or who are still literal children. That being said tho, whether intentional or not, I do appreciate the irony of Baby becoming everything he hated by the end of the story. A coldblooded killer, an arrogant tyrant, a ruthless planet conqueror, a *true Saiyan* in every way but name
