Why are they dying on 'foreign' battlefields? That phrase alone justifies the end to conscription.

Having served over a decade I say no, don't draft women. The ones that volunteered were largely useless enough, I couldn't imagine unwilling participants. I go another route, selective service provides voting rights for men, revoke voting rights instead. That'll fix a lot of things in this country

I am also a woman who bases her decisions on logic and research. A lot of people, both male and female, do not like that. I find that many men base their opinions on emotion as well, the liberal "woke" ones are every bit as bad as the worst female offender.

I was automatically entered into the selective service when I got my driver's license. It said right on the forms "by signing this you consent to being entered into the selective service"

They can vote to send men to war. Perhaps you should have to sign up before you are allowed to vote. Make a statement that you are willing to fight for the country before you get to choose what happens to others.

If they live in this nation and have the same rights as men and have requested to have the same equal rights, they should definitely do the same as men.

Remember when kings used to lead their soldiers in battle? Really helped to ensure the fighting was for a justifiable cause.

Sign up for selective service or no vote, and more importantly Family Courts should default to 50/50 Custody and Visitation with no child support as laws.

The point for this, even if you know women would just hinder military efforts and are not built for war, is that they will stop voting for drafts. They dont mind doing it if it doesnt affect them and sadly their vote counts as much as a mans.

We have national service in Finland, where young men have to do military service, civilian service or go to prison for six moths. And this is a law, if you don't do any of these things, you get so much trouble.

YES There needs to be a balance between rights AND responsibilities. I've been saying this since I was a kid.

1. Equal draft for everyone 2. No draft for anyone 3. Draft for men only and rights for men only. There's only 3 fair options. Equal rights - equal responsibility. Women cannot have privileges of both modern and traditional times. Women cannot vote for government which send men to wars. Men are not disposable materials for women safe and comfort life. Moreover modern women don't deserve men dying for them. Wanted to be equal? Have everything equal, not just privileges.

My great grandfather was drafted to the frontline infantry during WW1. Idk what he experienced there but there’s not one picture post-war of him smiling. I completely agree with this! As a woman who has served in the armed forces. Young women should be drafted along with young men. There are many other countries that have this policy as well. Usually a 2-year minimum contract. Then after you're done you can pursue what you want. I know not everyone will agree with this but I believe a system like that would produce better more capable individuals in our society.

I agree. I remember when my dad told me I had to register. It felt like I had no control over my adult life at the day of becoming a legal adult. It was a very unwelcoming feeling.

Firm believer that women should be forced to sign up, but they shouldn't be used in combat until absolutely necessary or they volunteer. The women who don't want to be thrown into combat, they can take care of the troops and their camp.

I would ALMOST agree with that for anything aside from military draft. I suppose you could call it kidnapping but kidnapping is an action and there are many people who fled the draft and never had any reprimand, although i suppose you could argue that some have been imprisoned for draft evasion but it's not really kidnapping per se. And it's not slavery, maybe forced labor but you get paid bi weekly for your military service, even if your drafted. On top of that it's just a very harsh way to describe and absolute necessity. Drafts are extremely rare in our history and during a time of war the extra man power is absolutely a requirement. Again one could make the argument that is only really "necessary" if it's due to some sort of US invasion. But only 5 times in nearly 200 years has it been enacted and over 50 years since the last one...

This is the solution. You don’t gain the right to vote until you are actively serving in the military or you are a net payer of taxes. Simple. Your w2 becomes your voter registration card. You paid taxes and didn’t get more back in benefits you vote. You got more back in benefits that you paid you don’t. Simple.

You're exactly right Cody. That law is an old outdated law that needs to be amended. Women want equal rights on everything so that should include registering for the draft. Very good and strong point you made.

I think this “injustice” is called Chivalry. It’s our honor as men.

I'm 72 and never was drafted. I enlisted in the Marine Corps. I can only manage my own love of country.
