Found this plant hiding outside in front of the new home I bought, it was hiding in a bush and I find it to be really pretty and it was in a plastic pot uncared for and it seemed to be doing well without any care. I bought dirt today and planted it in a big pot and have it on the side of my door outside where it is used to being. I won't bring it indoors because we like to keep our home dark in Florida due to the heat.

Your “song of India” is just beautiful.

Yes, you can otherwise the green moulds and algae will develop...

Now it is summer in Saudi Arabia can propagate it now or i have to wait?

Mine has been sitting outside for idk don't know how long, I bought this house in November 2023 and didn't touch intil recently because the last owners left it outside in a bush tangled up, basically they didn't care about. I don't have a green thumb so I'm researching on how to make it look better. It's not very huge either. Possibly cause it was left to die and it survived all this time.

Hello, when you are propegating in water, are you always careful to submerge too much of the stem in water? I read some people having a hard time because the stem would rot in the water. Also, did you leave your cuttings in the shade or low light area the entire time?

Hi Eileen, You can submerge the stem in water. I always water propagate my Dracena and the stem has never rotten. Place the plant in a warm spot which receives bright indirect light. All the best.👍

My plant was sitting in a south east facing window, and I'm watering only when I feel top 2-3inches are dry, but the lower leaves first lost it's variegation, the inner green portion turned yellow or faded and then they dropped, I don't have any sun burnt marks on them, they are not soggy at all ... I don't know what I'm doing wrong? Yes I repotted it into a well draining soil after purchase, and for further information I live in Pakistan in a sub tropical region, temp is pretty good not too low, humidity almost always 40-50% nowadays, can someone please guide me?

Hi Zuha, Dracenas are pretty sensitive to the salts like chlorides and fluorides present in the water. this can also for the plant leaves to fall over. Generally after repotting, the plant does take sometime to settle in the new soil and does show signs of stress such as leaf fall or drooping. Try watering the plant with rain water or distilled water and see the plant recovers. Keep the soil moist with proper ventilation and adequate sunlight. Do not change the position of the plant frequently. Hopefully, it should recover. 🙂

Asegúrate de propagarlos en la temporada de primavera o verano. Es posible que tarden un poco más en echar raíces... Mantenga los esquejes en un lugar cálido con suficiente luz indirecta brillante. Gracias por ver

Hello. I have the song of India but my leaves are very straight. Your plant seems to have a glamorous curve which gives it a more flowered type look. I was wondering if my plant will start to have a little curve to it, or is there a different type that stays straight ? I hope I have the right plant. Please let me know

Hi Angela. I am not sure why your song of India has very straight leaves. If your plant looks like the one shown in the video, then you have the right plant. I think when the leaves are new and young they are curved and gives the flower look and when they mature and plant grows further, they get straight.

@@Homemakr mine is young but very straight 😕 it doesn’t have that flower shape as yours does. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️. It was a gift so I didn’t see it before. Thank you for your response 😊

@@angelabecerra4385 mine is also straight but it's very health and has given out plenty of new baby plants from the root
