Over the last 3 years, the Remote by Default 2 study has been researching the
impact of changing ways of working and the introduction of new technologies
into UK General Practice.
We’ve followed 12 surgeries in Scotland, Wales and
England as they’ve adapted traditional ways of working and implemented (and
sometimes abandoned) new technologies.
This data has been combined with that from workshops, interviews with
stakeholders and national reports to give a rich and detailed picture of the
changing landscape of primary care and the challenges faced with remote
patient access to it.
The study has examined these changes to general practice
across the themes of education and training, workforce, quality and safety, and
infrastructure and procurement.
Prof Trish Greenhalgh will present key learnings from across these themes,
outlining the practical implications for patients, practices and healthcare
systems.
