    Maybe in 100 or 200 years time Dr Shefali will be called the woman who changed, or even saved, the world. Her message is so clear and obvious once understood. Imagine being the person who began the end of human violence, competitive capitalism and the belief that from the moment we arrive here we are owned. Truly remarkable lady.

    Now i am in a situation where i don't have a good relationship with my dad. I don't want to look at myself as "I'm right, or i know better than he does" but honestly right now i feel like my voice does not matter!! I feel like it's my duty to follow my dad's dreams for my life and what he wants and what i want are two different things.... And i am not heard by my dad, he doesn't want to listen to me. But through this all i don't feel like a victim ..... I honestly feel very sad for my dad because i feel that he has so much to overcome given the environments that have shaped his being right now. It's soo hard for him than it is for me. Dr Shefali is just on point. I love her talks, i can relate sooo much. Just like Dr Wyne Dyer said "Every child is a living soul that is trying to come to life and live authentically. A child came from a parent but is not for the parent." I keep asking God to never take away what i am going through now....... I just want him to add to my faith to carry this through!! I am growing and i am loving it.

    Our children are from us but not us and not us do they belong. They are spirits through us and we need to encounter them at their terms !! Are we ready for that !! We rob of them of their intimate connection with their ownselves and thereby suppress their inner voice , once disconnected with their inner voice , it gets substituted by other noises around to fill the void !!

I love the answer and its very much resonate with my own life .. wow!!

    The child should raise the parent?

  • @TheUberChic

    @TheUberChic

    5 жыл бұрын

    Wendy It is not intended to be taken 100% literally, it is a figure of speech and her aim is to challenge our perspective of the parent-child relationship. Rather than deluding ourselves and seeing our children as an extension of us, we can shift that perspective to value it as a true relationship. A relationship that has two parties, two sides, and essentially allow parents to learn from children too.

  • @profkg6613
    @profkg66136 жыл бұрын

    So we must just let kids behave as they want to treating them as independent spirits, isn't telling the kids whats good or bad for them part of parenting? I think a lot Shefali's book is a response to perhaps her own controlling Indian parents. But i do agree with the wreckage part, where she says " In wreckage will come growth" .

  • @whiteangel7777777

    @whiteangel7777777

    5 жыл бұрын

    I feel with her message is that if you change your perspective, change how you feel about the tantrum get in touch with your own emotions you will know what to do. She is really ahead of her times, I can see how some people don't get her. I am 53 and have a 25 year old deaf son. Her books where not out but I did most of what she said. It was not always perfect believe me. but my mind and heart were in tune with her teachings before even I found out of her. When my son did a tantrum in the middle of the shopping center.....I just stayed calm let him express even though judging eyes were watching me....and even though it was not convenient, I said we are leaving we would leave usually it was because he was tired. I now babysit my nephews and I find when they are upset it's because they are not feeling understood. I let them yell and scream, with no judgement, then they calm down and come and tell me what was upsetting them they are now 4 and 6. Remember they have to deal with unconscious adults around them it's very tough for such pure souls. If it gets out of hand i find, time out, is the best, with an explanation why they are in time out. (never in their room) usually in a corner on a stool. And always remind them they you love them even though they are in time out.

    Lynda thanks for the advice, I am 28 with b/g twins, my boy is usually the one with angry issues, and is true is usually because they are tired or he won’t tell me what he truly feels. I have binged watched her talks for 3 days now, i never got the sense she was not grateful for parents. What I am getting from her, is she is helping parents see parenting in a different light, the message is you don't possess your child to go with this mind set. I don't know if you have any kids. If you don't you will never understand until you have even one.
