Dr. Laurin Bellg- Near-Death Experiences in the ICU

(The first 15 seconds of this video are audio-only). For twenty years, Dr. Laurin Bellg has worked with patients in the intensive care unit who have near-death and out-of-body experiences during sudden cardiac death and severe trauma. Many of those accounts have been documented in her book Near Death in the ICU: Stories From Patients Near Death And Why We Should Listen To Them
🔔 Subscribe and click on the bell to turn on notifications to see future videos.
These experiences are profoundly meaningful, yet when they are reported, they are frequently met with skepticism and dismissal by medical caregivers and family members. Dr. Bellg maintains that we don’t have to fully understand these events to honor the transformative role they often play in the lives of those who experience them. A thought leader in the area of working with patients who’ve had near-death experiences, Dr. Bellg has been a keynote speaker at many venues throughout the United States. Her presentations are popular for their strong story telling and thought-provoking message on the importance of honoring personal experience as a part of healing.

i must have heard or read about 1000 of these NDE stories now. The one thing that really stands out for me is that no matter what country you are from, no matter what your faith is, the experiences are so consistent. White light, seeing loved ones who have passed, spirit guides, feeling of absolute love, peace and non judgment etc. Our legal system convicts people sometimes form just one eyewitness testimony. There are literally tens of thousands of eyewitnesses for life after death. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the afterlife exists and it is absolutely amazing!

@Brian there are vast amounts of positive NDEs that aren’t Christian. If there is an afterlife The god of all people, of all faiths throughout all time probably ease people into the afterlife by taking the cultural forms they are familiar with.

I'm a retired nurse and heard many patient stories. I always believed them. Just before my 9th birthday my whole summer break was spent battling a recurring flu (per my pediatrician). By the time school started I had a 106 temp and vile abdominal pain. By the time mom took me for the car ride to the ER the pain was fading and I started shutting down with peritonitis from a ruptured appendix. In the operating table I floated above my body...lifted out into awareness and perplexed that I could see myself lying there, wondering how it was possible...even thought I would become entangled in the circular hand lights overhead. I was in a place of utter peace and knew everything was exactly as it should be, not concerned at all that i was out of my body. I remember thinking thoughts as i do in my mind, in English, in my own voice as usual. I'll never forget it, and lost my horrible fear of death.

I worked in ICU for 23 years and it opened my eyes to this and get excited about learning about it. I talked to patients who watched their codes and loved to hear about it. I am so silly when I had surgery I had hoped I happened to me but didn't. My significant other died in 2013. We used to fight about her smoking and the smell. About once a month when I am home I smell cigarette smoke when I am alone. No one is allowed to smoke in my house. I enjoy the visits and wish they would happen more often. I do talk to her during the visits.

Both times i been knocked out with Anastasia .The first time , i was still a child, i had a conscious experience, floating lights etc .The second time i was just unconscious. Anyway, I know the first time they used gas, and the second time they used a syringe. Do you know if my first conscious experience could be an effect to 70thies anesthesia ? Could the 'older version'create hallucinations ? I'm just saw your comment, so i thought let me ask you. I tried asking a few doctors , but they just dodge the question...

This happened a long time ago. As a child I suffered much abuse at home and at school.I don't remember the circumstances, but one day , I believe I was about seven, I still remember that although I did not see anyone , I was surrounded and engulfed in an incredible feeling of love that I felt with every part of my being. There wasn't any part of me that did not feel this incredible feeling of being loved. As I remember this lasted about two hours. I had not told anyone of this experience until a couple of weeks ago. I was talking to my sister Rose and described it to her. She told me that she had the same experience when she was a young girl. We both desperately needed to know that we were loved by someone. And , I believe that God gave this love to each of us at about the same time.

I was about 3 blocks away from my house and all of a sudden it was like I was in a love bubble. It felt like I was in slow motion and swimming in euphoria. I remember looking around the neighborhood to see if there was anyone witnessing this amazing event that was happening to me. There wasn't. I think it lasted about 30 seconds. I too NEEDED to feel that love!!! God is so sweet. I'm 49 now and will never forget it.

I cared for my mother during her last year. She began seeing people she knew and some she did not recognize months before she passed. She was not ok with this at the time and demanded that the chaplain explain things to her. I was a bit frightened at then, too. Thankfully, a beautiful hospice nurse explained that this happens to many. My mother wasn’t in that conversation, but she embraced the activity in her room anyway. I’m so grateful for the nurse because I had the privilege of watching all this unfold before my spiritual eyes without fear or question. I’m grateful for the hospice chaplain. I missed my mother after she passed and still do as her 13th anniversary is approaching, but grieved her so differently than my past grief experiences- with peace and joy and wonder - she showed me that there is nothing to fear. The doctor is remarkable. Wow.

Death-bed visions. While sitting and watching Instagram posts besides one of my sick relatives in the ICU room, she turned her head to me and asked me pointing to the wall in front of her: "Do you see those two holding flowers". I instantly jumped and looked at the wall and saw no one. She was disappointed: "You're not seeing anyone?!". She turned her left and slept. After a while, I realized she was dying and those two might have been her parents who dies long ago. 3 days later, she died!

I was atheist and believe in scientific theories when I have my experience. Instantly I knew I w❤as out of my body and could feel it, weightless. I looked down at my body but it wasn’t very important to me like a change of clothes it was me but it wasn’t me. I didn’t have a god experience or life review I had just a outer body, but I was out of my body. Still can’t explain it or understand it. Some people try and tell me imagined, hallucinated, or my brain created the event. I do not believe any of that, but I’m not afraid to die now and sometimes problems in life seem pointless, I have no greed anymore, I have no yearning for materialistic things. People don’t understand why I don’t care for luxury and wealth and I think they lost the point and are wasting their life chasing it. I also now can feel people’s emotions and intentions.

NDE in 1985. Life changed after that. I was given heightened intuition, greater compassion and an understanding of eternal life... it’s not a physical eternal life, it’s a united connection to the life force of the universe from which we gain perfect peace and perfect understanding. Unless you have experienced it you cannot grasp the concept. It’s the greatest gift I have been given. I am humbled as a human, respect all life forms and never “ sweat the small stuff”. It’s wonderful to hear the experience of others.

One woman at a conference about NDE said many people have to have counselling because they have such guilt about not wanting to come back, that even the love of their family, even children was not enough for them to want to come back. One woman could not tell her daughter's until they were grown, that she had resisted strongly to return to her earthly body, because she didn't want them to feel they weren't loved enough for their mum to want to be with them. That's how strong the love in the next life is.

Hi, you may be interested in the book, "The Self Does Not Die: Verified Paranormal Phenomena from Near-Death Experiences" published by IANDS. This book contains over 100 reliable, often firsthand accounts of perceptions during NDEs that were later verified as accurate by independent sources. These near-death experiencers were everyday people from all over the world-many of whom were clinically dead, unable to see or hear, and yet able to perceive new vistas of a world beyond the senses and even beyond death. The Self Does Not Die is a trailblazing effort to present the most confirmed cases of consciousness beyond death ever compiled. In these cases, the authors have gone back to the original sources, the people involved in each case, whenever possible, rather than relying on secondhand sources. In so doing, they have assembled a unique collection of empirical data that any scholar worthy of the name must take into account. www.amazon.com/Self-Does-Not-Die-Experiences/dp/0997560800

My doctor informed me prior to my surgery who would be in the room, there would be him, the floor nurse, the anesthesiologist, and the main surgeon. He said if there is anyone else in the room something very wrong has happened. Well the worst happened, I found myself in the room watching my doctors and listening to their conversation, that was before they realized that I was gone, I tried to talk to my doctors they could not hear me, that's when the guy in the corner spoke to me, he was the only one who could talk to me. His name was Anthony, don't ask me how I know that I just do. There was a woman in the hospital who had been very sick and was waiting to die, I did not know who she was, but two angels appeared in the hallway where I was standing, they were there to take her to heaven, when they spotted me one of them came over to me, she looked into my eyes I felt she was reading me, Anthony told her "it wasn't my time." Almost immediately I was back in my body while the anesthesiologist was yelling my name, she said that is weird when that happens but sometimes it works, she took credit for what the angel had done. She will never know. After I was taken to recovery and finally came too, I had been there all day, my doctor came to talk to me and he asked if anything happened to me, I told him I remember coming too, and there were other people in the room that I could talk to, he told me I did not come too, in fact I was dead for seven minute's, they almost lost me, I told him I felt like I was alive, that's when I told him about his conversation with the floor nurse, she was very sweet, that was before they realized I was gone. Just prior to being back in my body I turned to look back and there was a curtain that had been closed, when I was back in my body I experienced horrible pain, I received another shot from the anesthesiologist and again I was out. There are few other things, but to keep this short I will spare you.

He/she who dies with the most toys wins is so NOT the point of life! I believe it's each other and at some time in the past when we lived as family/villages. Life was created to be as such. But when we started to live/create CITIES. That created division in us and we went our separate ways, away from each other. Small town are the best! Everyone looks out for one another. It's strong and resilient and hard to break up! We are living with our eyes wide shut! I think we are waking up though! You are so right Breeze...

"the real world"... an honest scientist, quantum physicist, quantum mechanics engineer, plasma physicist, nuclear physicist, digital physicist, Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Walter Russell, Sir James Jeans, Karl Pribram, David Bohm, Neils Bohr, and approximately 100,000 other men and women I work alongside currently will attest, with crystal clarity, that this world is certainly NOT THE real world...as I, too, can attest both professionally as well as personally...first hand direct experience...the word "spiritual" only denotes not happening within the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that is contained within the subset visible light spectrum, which accounts for approximately .005% of what we already know exists of this emf spectrum of derivative energy...this world u have such a current attachment to, literally, is nothing more than a dynamic virtual holographic interpretation of light (radiation) held in resonance thru field stability with ur 5 electromagnetic sensory apparatus, which gives u the temporary illusion of reality...all reality frames are in a constant state of dynamic relativity with one another...this world is "the spirit world" when u observe it from a point of attention outside the filtering mechanisms of the atomic shell u refer to as a body, which is nothing more than a grounded field of ranged vibratory structure...the very same mechanisms which govern ur "body" in that dream u will have tonight...another real world experience governed via those very same 5 illusory emf sensors...but with a lower relative wavelength as the primary input data stream...reality is information, not the observer...the information is the primary determining factor of ur reality experience, the senses are not, they are the variable...understand this well before u speak with derision to another, within this dreaming awake state of existence u find yourself within currently...I am not saying this to be condescending, I am saying this to get the following point across to u: 100% of this reality, including ur own body, is composed of atoms...and atoms have zero solidity...zero solidity...do u understand the significance of this... peace... ur friend, abracadabra

hey there thanks for the kind words...yes I know of Anita and her work, though I haven't read her book yet...the deep humming sound that u heard was actually a form of light, as light on one level is sound on another level, sound being the "lesser form of light" from this perspective...and this occurred inside ur head bc that is where the bridge between this frame of reality and other frames of reality are connected, the pineal gland...the pineal is that gland which "connects" all the other portions of the brain into this coherent experience before it is played back to u in another part of the brain near the back of ur head...and the pineal gland has an em field around it which when disturbed makes a crackling sound, or a long loud humming which builds in intensity until it "breaks thru" the "veil" the em field...this is the field which governs ur experience parameters and allows u to have a singular focused experience here...and u can think of the humming like one of those old ham radio tuning dials with a long antenna and the guy or gal is turning that knob slowly and u hear that sound coming thru the speakers as ur trying to find a new radio channel to tune into...the same humming and or electrical sensations occur during the "kundalini" moments...also very very often during DMT-ayahuasca experiences....all of these events have that same humming etc just prior to the "changing of the station"...u see why this is...bc information travels to us in waves, much like radio waves, which are then decoded and turned into "particles" when they are tuned in and observed via our 5 electrical sensory apparatus...so, yes the humming is a very good sign of a signal reception change about to take place...and when u could "see thru walls" this is bc the walls are waves before u decode them into a wall particles and atoms, invisible waves...like radio waves...and as ur humming electrical emf disturbance takes place u are changing the dial and now that wall is no longer where that needle on ur dial was a moment ago...it is again a wave, an unobserved wave...from ur changing point of perception...the wall, along with everything else, was is and always will be just information being decoded thru the 5 senses thru the pineal gland and then played back to u holographically in a virtual reality type experience of advanced technology u could say...like a controlled dream being merged with technology...the sound changes ur level of consciousness, and this is why all those guys long long ago used to go "ooommmm ooommmm" all day...they understood this made that same humming in their heads, from which they then gained much insight from... and the pineal gland has the ability to see light that is invisible to ur 5 senses, and thus hear humming that is not able to be heard via ur 5 senses as well...just like u can use that pineal to picture the house u grew up in as a child right now and hear ur grandma's voice as if she were talking to u right now...in this type of way the pineal connects the infinite experiences u will have in the infinite fields of vibration... if u want to watch a guy describe ur exact humming sound watch DMT the spirit molecule, and then watch the experiences they have following that humming...similar, but not the same , as NDE's...but very important for ppl to know if they would like to understand the nature and the similarities of these experiences...yes very important...and yes i have left my so called body...and yes u are very correct we are called human BE-ings for a very good reason...bc we are in a state of being, as opposed to doing...and being is much like the receiver of the signal, while doing is the one sending the signals...we are both simultaneously, but only aware of the receiver end currently...and this is for good reason...it's like a circle where we send information, and then we receive this information, and by doing these cycles over and over and over again we can learn and evolve a great deal, always building upon the prior learning to where the novelty and complexity of this system become evermore evolved spiritually and physically...and this is why the novelty as well as the complexity of these cycles are so highly conserved...they are the platforms that lead to ever increasing evolution of spirit and body...and this is why everything emits and absorbs information, energy...it is like a self sustaining perpetual machine from which we can divide ourselves again and again and again to gain knowledge and data thru interaction of these divided fields of consciousness, which on the other end of this cycle, that which is the undivided form of us, becomes evermore evolved...and from that point the undivided form can send itself, us, even more complex and novel information to build even greater realms of realities from...u see, if the primary substance of the universe is consciousness, and this consciousness is eternal, then the primary objective of the unity form of consciousness is to divide itself and make limitless realms of life from which we can experience in an infinite number of ways...what would u do if u had forever...well, the answer is everything...right now we are playing hide and seek, with ourselves...lol...and we needed to create space and time to be able to play this game...we couldn't create space and time until we could consciously experience it as a concept to place 'atoms" inside of it...and from AToms, comes ADam...and eve of course...eve came from the rib of Adam, the electron of ATOM...when u remove an electron from an atom, u create more energy more life...and the electron would be like the rib cage which protects the heart of the atom...but u cannot explain the concept of an atom to ppl many thousands of years ago, which is why that book liked to use allegories...it is a book of truth, written in allegorical form...and yes it is attempting to help guide the free will...take care... ur friend, abracadabra

A near death experience changed my life. 3 figures. One was bright and I could not see their face the others I can't remember. I cannot remember the conversation, but I knew I was sent back for a reason. When I first came back, I was completely aware of all the details. But within moments it vanished. It felt like being in my Moms arms as a child, and the love was just indescribable. I did not want to return. Ever since I have been extremely sensitive to emotions and surroundings. I am a believer in Jesus and God ever since, not a perfect man, far from it but I believe with all my heart.

@pondering human Yes! In the Bible, John 3:5, "Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit." We are born of water when we come from our mothers, when we become a Christian, we are born 'of the spirit', the second birth. All you have to do to become a Christian is easy, ABC's: A. Admit you are a sinner and in need of a savior, Romans 3:23; B. Believe on the redemptive work of Christ on the cross, John 3:16, 17; C. Confess Christ (or call on the name of the Lord), Romans 10:9-10; 13; Ephesians 2:8-9. Start reading the Bible, the book of John is a good starting point.

Our 3 year old daughter was resuscitated on our driveway from a fall and subsequent severe closed head injury (SDH) years ago. She was fully resuscitated and miraculously recovered over a period of years . At the age of 12 she had to be put in counseling because she developed sudden severe PTSD from this incident . Finally one day after much counseling , we had a breakthrough and she was able to articulate what was distressing her so badly . I said “ honey does it scare you that you might die ?” She looked at me wild eyed . “Oh NOOOOO mommy .... I am not scared of dying ....{cue heaving sobs} as she finished that statement saying “when I danced with Jesus in the snow I saw you crying and screaming below and I don’t want you to be sad like that ever again , because it scares me. And I’m with you now so you are not scared.” I gasped for words . “ you were dancing with Jesus in the snow ?” { it was sept 7} she was not following my confusion ...... *wow* Try parenting that .

What I have heard from experiencers of NDE (near death experience) is that there is no suffering in the other place, but they CAN experience a sense of purpose. It sounds to me like Tabitha's daughter sensed that she had something to learn from her Mom, and her Mom had something to learn from her, and she returned.

In March of 2016' I went under the knife for a 5 hour 2-level spinal fusion in my lumbar area for my back surgery. (Short Version story...) I woke up in a city like atmosphere with very tall transparent crystalized buildings surrounding me with narrow streets similar to Italy's neighborhoods. The streets were glazed with transparent Gold that I can barely describe to y'all. As I moved through these streets heading out of this city, there where kid's on bikes following me as I could ONLY see them(and everything else.) and I couldn't see myself, my vision was similar to a GoPro or a P.O.V. Type of vision. Everything around me felt slow motion((TIMELESS))and very vivid in color, nothing on earth that I have seen as bright as this place, not even our Sun. One kid was closer to me than the rest, as I got to the end of our ride on our path, I could see the city from afar and many trees, flowers, and super grassy green hills that went forever(PARADISE ATMOSPHERE!). The kid closest to me looked very familiar and when I seen him up close (a couple feet from me) , he looked just like my 2 son's that live with me on earth....... the kid on the bike I was staring at was my son who passed away in 2001' at birth and he wasn't an infant anymore, he was approximately 8-10 year's old now and he wasn't sick in any form, he was full of bliss, happiness, & everlasting joy from a smile that NEVER left his spirit as I departed back to my body and woke up in ICU seconds later........... (The next life after this one on earth is real peeps, I hope you enjoyed my short version of my operation VISION.) -AB

Similar to Helen's experience with a car, I was driving down Mt Hood on a snow packed road... suddenly my car started doing 360s.. I think at least 2 maybe three of them... Suddenly I was out of my body and viewing my car from above.I could see the startled look on the faces of the drivers coming up the mountain and I remember praying I wouldn't hit them. Suddenly I saw a rock wall heading right for the front of my car. I said to myself you better do something or you will be dead. Instantly, I was back in my car turning the wheel one way then another and just as suddenly my car was back in the proper lane going down the road like nothing had happened at all. I felt stunned for many days after.

I had an OBE a long time ago. I was in the hospital for a broken leg but I did not want to stay there. The hospital always feel crowded full of emotions oozing everywhere. I wanted to home so badly that I lost consciousness and suddenly I was floating about ten feet above my parking lot. It felt normal but I wanted to touch the ground so I can walk home which was a couple or so yards away from my front door. And in a blink of an eye, I was already at my front door. I don't remember opening the door but I was already inside. I called out for my mom but the only one who heard me was my pekingese, Snowball. We were in the dining room but when she came in wagging her tail, she couldn't see me. I said: "girl, I'm right here." But she ran to the kitchen which was on my right and looked all over the kitchen. I could hear her thoughts and I knew I was making her sad. I think I fainted cause I woke up in that hospital. My family was there to pick me up after the doctor put my cast on. That's when my mom said that she heard me call her from the dining room. That's when I realized that wasn't a "dream".

I remember clearly when I was about 8 years old, in our property ( in Brasil )it was our house 🏡 and another little house beside ours where my brother used to live with his wife. She was laying on her bed and I was talking to her by her window. I said my good nights to her, and she told me that she was gonna read until my brother arrived ( he worked till late that time, he'd be home soon). I went to bed, and mom and dad were talking sitting at the front yard. It was a hot night. I remember laying down and soon I fell asleep 😴 all the sudden I felt myself floating above my own body and from standing beside my bed I saw myself sleeping in the bed. I walked away from my room and went to tell my sister-in-law what was happening to me. I stood by her window again and I saw her reading in bed, and I called her and really excited I told her what had just happened. She even didn't look like she was ignoring me. Then I heard my brother arriving at home, opening the door and walking in. Suddenly I was in my bed again and I woke up breathing fast and very aware of what had just happened. I got up and run again to their window and sure enough my brother had just arrived, and she was still there in bed reading her book. I tried to tell them, but I think my brother had other plans in mind than listen to his little sister nonsense. Mom called me to go to bed. I don't remember what happened after that, but they probably just ignored what I said. It was incredible amazing, and I've never forgotten that. So, I don't think ( actually, by experience I am sure) that people don't leave their bodies just when they have a NDE. I'm certain that we have a spirit and when our physical body sleeps it leaves our body and can experience the most amazing things. We just can not remember when we wake up. It's party of the mystery of life that separates the physical and spiritual worlds.

That’s awesome! And very real, it’s a thing! It’s called Astral Projection. It’s the separation of the consciousness from our physical bodies. It’s so real in fact, that the CIA did studies on it back in the 70s and 80s, you can look up “Russel Targ” who has given TED talks on this subject and his experience as the lead scientist on that program (I believe it was called Operation Bluebird.)

She does not and it's refreshing to hear and see her speak to an audience, keeping them engaged with ever building up facts as she sees them. Well-done! Thank you.

Thank you for this. My husband and I are in the midst of watching his grandfather slowly fade away, and these talks about death have provided so much comfort to me. I will miss him terribly when he's gone, but now I will also rejoice in his passing because I know he will finally be at peace, and the constant confusion he's battled for years as a result of dementia will finally be alleviated.

I was with my mom for the last 3 months of her life, taking care of her until her last breath. It was traumatizing and so sentimental at the same time. I have so many questions now.. my brother passed away from lap band surgery in 2011. I had so many clear “signs” of comfort from God of him, both ideas were the same. But with my mom who was so “saintly” I had really nothing.. it was disappointing. What does that mean? I’m still wondering. That’s why I am here reading comments. I’m with you both in spirit. I will be here if you need to talk online here.. my heart is breaking for your husband and your family. There may be a way to message me directly?...

Again, so refreshing!

    E. My son, at age three, had his tonsils removed and was given too much anesthesia. He "de-saturated rapidly" (whatever that means) stopped breathing, and his heart and all brain activity stopped "for about two minutes." His experience was incredible. He told us things he could never have known. Things that hadn't happened yet, but did later. He met and spoke with Jesus Christ. (He used the full title; not just "Jesus" like we always said, and he would ONLY say "Jesus Christ" for months afterward.) He also saw his twin brother, who had died AS AN INFANT, of SIDS. He saw him as a grown man, "taller than Daddy" yet somehow knew he was Benjamin, his twin brother. He also met someone from the Bible, and corrected me when I pronounced the name wrong. Heaven is real. For Mother's Day this year, the 25th anniversary of his death, our daughter, Rachel, recorded this song for him. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nZONlbqoZLCZoKQ.html

SuperDukka I see you are intent upon posting your responses to Christians. it is very possible that men have corrupted the truth and that the Bible has truth and lies together. I am a Christian so I realize most Christians will instantly stop reading this. But there seems to be an explanation to the discrepancies. There is a channel titled “Good God”. It seems to make sense. You would need to watch a few videos to understand. I have come to realize that every single idea is reduced to “what did I do with my own sin issue?”. Have you faced your own sin issue and who has fixed it? This is where all ideas and philosophies fail except for Jesus. He is the only hope that frees us from our sin issue. There is none good, no, not one. The payment for sin is death, but the gift of god is eternal life through Jesus Christ. It in ingenious. Who could be “good enough”? You? Me? Them? No one. Who could buy it? No one, it is a gift.

When I was 16 I took my car off a bridge and as a result had an experience. It wasn't NDE but possibly OBE because I simultaneously was able to see the whole event as though it was occurring in fast forward...I remember just before losing control of the car (in slow motion) I turned my radio down, put on my seat belt and then everything went fast forward and my car was wrapped around a mangrove tree suspended above a creek with no possible way for me to get out of the car. I remember being stunned, taking my seatbelt off and hitting my face on the steering wheel with enough gravitational pull to give me a bloody nose. The next thing I recall is a super bright white/golden light and a man reaching his hand out to me to help me out of the car along a log that in reality wasn't there. According to my mother there was no way for me to get out of my car without falling below to the creek. She also finds it hard to believe that the man and woman who helped me that day would leave me before the emergency responders arrived. It's her belief that it was my aunt Barbara who committed suicide when I was a baby and one of my guardian angels. I didn't come out of the experience fearless or anything like that and I was never close to death. There was no prophetic moment. I was 16 and it was just something that happened at the time. Now as an adult I can look back and see that it was so much more.

Hopefully, she can be an inspiration to people who have had an NDE to come forward with their experience so that we can learn from this phenomenon. The idea of the Near-Death Experience seems to be more and more accepted which is a very good thing. I have read many books on the subject mostly written by Dr. Raymond Moody who coined the term "NDE". It is comforting to find out that life goes on in one way or another and that we will be reunited with our families after passing on.

Her important contribution to the NDE research is verily her stance / point of view that the person who experiences NDE holds greater right to hold on and profess what they experience at firsthand than a skeptic onlooker or an relative responding to the such an account. My sister worked at the hospital, was on duty that night and her job was to bring reports/labs to the ordering physician by hand, which was typical back in 2000. She secretly shared my X-rays with my grandpa and told him that my lungs were almost entirely full of fluid (they were 85% full). I later vividly described the exact details of this conversation, the room they were in (which I have yet to see in person) as well as how they were all feeling emotionally - this was validated with each one of them independent of each other.

My dad saw his deceased mom and dad standing in his bedroom. He said, "what are you doing here?" And his mom said, "we came to get you." I'm not sure exactly what he said in response, but it was along the lines that he wasn't ready to leave right then. A week later he died of a heart attack. On the night after the morning of his death, I was trying to take a nap because I hadn't any sleep, but I couldn't. All of a sudden, I felt the most profound loving safe feeling coursing through my body. It was not generated from me. I've never had an external feeling come into my body, but that is what happened. I fell asleep like that, curled in the fetal position, feeling like a baby curled up in my dad's lap. The next day my brother called and said, "well, dad came to me last night." I was so excited and asked what hhappened. He said he was lying in bed and this incredible feeling of love and safety went through his whole body. He had never felt anything like it. It was pure and loving and lasted for a couple of hours. I almost fell out of my chair! I told him the exact thing hhappened to me. We were both so overwhelmed by our dual experiemce. It happened tto us bboth, in different places, at the same time. After that, I knew my dad was still around and had survived physical death. He showed me another sign a few months later, but this comment is getting so long, lol. My issue is that my mom died three months ago and i have not had any sign of her whatsoever. I ask her every single day to tell me she's ok. Nothing. She hasn't come to my brother either. We are so confused and sad. But I know she has to be alive somewhere, and I will keep waiting for her sign. We just don't understand why she hasn't shown up yet. Maybe not every soul can communicate with the other side, or maybe it sometimes takes a while for them to learn how. I just don't know.

I think attributing negative feelings toward someone who has passed who doesn't communicate with the living is a misunderstanding. The fact that some people have after death communications (to varying levels) while others have absolutely nothing is certainly a conundrum. It may be that for any communication to occur both parties have to be both willing and able to do so, and that the variables involved are more complex than we can understand, resulting in it being a rare experience.

this is a gracious, unaffected and supersmart woman. Dr Bellg makes a wonderfully compelling case that there is more at work here than cells and atoms. The same old, same old problem, however, is that she is preaching to the converted. What needs to happen I think is a calm, frank discussion - not a debate- with people like Dr Bellg and Eben Alexander with some of the medical and scientific experts (ie Steve Novella Neuro) who do not accept the para normal - maybe in a shared search for the truth....

I had a near death experience back in the early nineties. I was having a cardiac catheterization and the doc pushed the catheter into a fully blocked LAD. I coded. I went to a paradise like place, with a pastoral surrounding. A voice that was intuitive but not audible informed me that I could enter in or return. I chose to return because of my children. Immediately I was back in my body and had been zapped several times.

Undoubtedly the best lecture on this particular phenomena I have ever had the pleasure to watch. I left with less than the expectation to ever experience an NDE so much as the reassurance that no matter what may go astray in this physical life of mine is survivable, no matter what immediate perspectives i may cling to. And that as difficult as "life's struggles" may be at any given moment, they are all with purpose and ultimately, an experience of hope and solution. Thank you so much Dr. Bellg and iands.org. For me, this was invigorating.

Some of us believe that we are energetic beings who have creative abilities, and what we see at the end of this physical life can be heavily affected by those creative abilities based on our beliefs and expectations, be they right or wrong about what is actually taking place. It is always best to go to the other side with love, and without fear.

My brother was a miracle to Doctors and nurses in the cardiac unit he was in. He was considered no chance of survival patient..and was dead over 8 minutes. He died twice said. Brain dead. But thousands prayed for him. Hands oaid in him from 3 different faiths. Anointed with oil. Woke up saying it sucks to come back. He said he met God twice and was given a chance to stay with God orncome back. He had annew wife and his kids to come back to. Way more to the story. He had a heart attack and fell dead and recovered. Since i was very young. Age 10 and till now at age 53. I have always read books watched movies and listened to stories on NDE and other experiences. NEVER would i have imagined it would be my brother...and my mom as well. Amazing. God/jesus are real. And doesn't cease to exist because no one believes. My bro went from athiest to believer.

Eckhart Tolle in his The Power of Now mentioned about our consciousness that allows us this out of body experience once we access it! It is making perfect sense to me now after reading and listening to these accounts! It is so fitting what Tolle wrote in his book and these real life events, our consciousness or soul exists and never dies! In light of this and Tolle’s I sure hope mankind in general and science in particular is more readily open to this truth! Namaste

God puts people in places that helps others. It could be a statement or a word from a passers-by. Through out our lives these things happen. Within all the noise of the world, it's amazing how our recall of these events, silently teaches or guides us. Bottom line here is, if you're living, you're learning. what have we said in our lives to someone that has made a difference to them. God bless.

When somebody dies and sees what lies beyond, then he or she becomes responsible for sharing that experience. The Lord doesn't give us a taste of the afterlife just for us to keep it to ourselves. It's a gift that He expects us to share with others. People who are afraid of what others may think need to ground themselves in the faith. "There is no fear in love." .
