Steven Gundry MD Would it at least help reduce inflammation by taking away some of the foods you mention in the matrix? For example, I feel a big difference when I take out refined sugars, wheat/gluten and dairy, but beans and peanuts are some of the biggest sources of protein for me as someone who chooses to reduce animal protein. I feel best when I don’t eat meat as often and legumes don’t seem to cause inflammation for me. I believe I’m O type btw.

My grandmother would always treat three vegetables with salt before cooking or eating them: cucumbers, eggplant, and potatoes. Her reason: She said that the salt "kills the poisons" in these foods. For cucumbers and eggplant, she would peel and slice them, then sprinkle salt over them to coat them on both sides, cover, and leave them to sit a few hours or so. Then she would rinse the salt off before preparing or cooking. For potatoes, she would peel and chop the potatoes up, then put them in a bowl of water with salt added and let them sit a few hours or so. When it came time to cook the potatoes, she would first rinse off the salted soaking water, then bring the potatoes to a boil in fresh water, then turn down to a simmer. At that point, a white foam would come to the surface of the water, and she would scoop that off, then continue simmering the potato until done. Years ago, I lived in a macrobiotic study house and later took macrobiotic cooking classes as well for a few years after that, and learned how to cook beans in a pressure cooker. First the beans would be soaked overnight. Then the beans would be brought to a boil in unsalted water, then simmered, until that same foam surfaced that I had seen come to the surface when I was a kid when my grandmother was cooking potatoes. The foam was also scooped off in macrobiotic cooking, just like my grandmother did. In macrobiotics, the reason for scaping off this film was that it contains indigestible sugars. Then they would put a piece of kombu seaweed in the pot which they explained as "helping to cook the beans." Then they would place the lid on the pressure cooker to bring up the pressure to fully cook them, usually for about 45 minutes or so. Salt was added only after the beans were fully cooked. And in macrobiotics, three vegetables are never eaten: tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplant. So are these good ideas? Pretreating cucumbers, eggplant, and potatoes with salt and for beans, the soaking, pressure cooking beans with kombu seaweed and adding the salt last. How about the scraping off of the white scum like material that potatoes and beans exude?

by the way Dr Gundry I saw a small clip of you from the Dr Oz show with Dr Kahn from a couple of years ago and I thought you behaved like a total gentleman. I felt like Kahn was trying to upstage you when there was no reason to. You smiled the whole time with a "I don't need to prove anything to you" posture and I loved it. You said "it's how well you live for a long period of time". You've further explained that the cultured with the longer lives have things in common despite eating foods with lectins. I'm proud that I found your books and that show further proved to me that your only agenda is to educate, not to showboat.

The sign of greatness and integrity is the willingness to shed past teachings and doctrine and change course based on continued learning. This is RARE beyond belief. Especially in the medical, science and academic fields. This man is an life-time achiever beyond belief. I am not agreeing with all he teaches. I see questionable leaps in his conclusions. Question everyone and do your own research. My opinion of Dr. Gundry keeps growing.

I have been eating a vegan diet for 40 yrs with no deleterious effects that I know of. I am now 60yr old, feeling great and looking much younger. Obviously this is anecdotal and I can't speak for others that follow the same vegan diet. Your (science based)take on diet is very interesting and I plan to obtain the book very soon. many people come to me for advice on diet and I am always trying to explain that what I do is not to be duplicated as everyone is different and with the newly found data on the microbiome, it becomes obvious. I do try to give general ideas about a healthier diet, but i don't push for the stricter vegan diet. I know your book will add to my knowledge and possibly help others to identify the source of their ailments. Thank you sir.

This is one book that has to be studied extensively, will have to add that one to my library. Even in the first 10 to 20 pages there is so much info, new information, that I have to read and highlight to get back to the most important points. I skimmed over the case of Angela who at age 40 had such calcified arteries the doctors could not even fix it. And then to go on that diet and all of that had disappeared, along with the arthritis she had.

this stuff works. I'm in my early 30's and healthy. former varsity athlete etc. love health and exercise. yet, still I'm seeing benefits. 1st was I felt my digestion working at night....then yes, cleaner and much bigger no2s...then I noticed that I get MORE hungry. I woke up one day famished. I ate whatever thinking the diet was restricting/starving/making me hungry. but no, I drank water and it went away with food. I do eat more now suprisingly but I feel lighter also. overall I fell great and the food is actually tasty. the most recent thing I've noticed is brain clarity. i'm in my early 30's but already this has improved. I thought to myself, wow, we really don't know what brain fog is until it's gone. So there is my input after just a short time eating like this. less than 1 month. Also, I should note, that my taste buds seem to be changing. I bought a 92% cocoa bar and took a bite. it was NASTY. I thought, shoot, I can't handle a small bite and I bought 2 bars! I might have made a mistake lol but now I love it. It's really weird but yeah, the foods taste great to me, my energy is up, my number 2 is now #1 lol my brain is clear. I'm on point right now , I feel lucky to have stumbled across this. blessed really thank god I can excape this cursed society tbh the way it is set up from a dietary stand point (among other things like the economy and abortion but i digress). Trying to tell my sister about this but she's such a foodie that it might be hard given the foods available. just getting her to consider is an event. I'm not trying to be "that guy" but foreal, this is some good stuff. I've told myself that at least I can eat this way even if nobody else does. love it!

Dr Gundry I've read your longevity and the plant paradox cook book. You're brilliant and your ethics are an example to all. Giving up surgery to help us all was a great idea. I'm great full for you! It I may advise you... I think it would be most helpful to acquire more subscribers if you tried to pick up the pace on your speech. I recommended you to my friends (ages 30- 36) and they said that you were talking to slow. Silly I know.. I guess it's the modern approach ( low attention span). Still they need your help and I'm sure you'would be happy to have more followers. Please, keep going strong. Stay motivated, because you really make a difference!

Strange but I was once healed from heavy migraines that the best doctors could not help me to solve but then I tried a very basic macrobiotic diet on buckwheet, Brown rise, sea vegetables, roots, onions, miso soup, a few Rice crackers and cooked fruit spread without sugar - and then I had one piece of Rye bread with fat Italian or French cheese from the mountains, and I also kept two cups of coffee and after 10 days I had no migraines at all and my energy level was sky high - ....

Thank you Dr Gundry! Greetings from Omaha! So interesting about lectins and blood cells clumping. Wondering if avoiding lectins would help reduce a hypercoagulable state and/or autoimmune conditions such as antiphospholipid antibody syndrome? Would love getting off blood thinners. Also fascinating to learn how type A’s blood types are more prone to infections due to the sugar molecules than type O. That explains why my type O mother (who lived to 87) was healthier with fewer infections than my father or myself (type A).

Lectins are explained very nicely in detail by Paul Mason,MD. from Australia. See KZread: "How Lectins Impact Your Health" one comment by Dr Mason said it all.."lectins have been increasing in our diet" and he explains why. Dr Gundry nailed it and more docs are catching on!

Ok, this explains why I felt increased pain from my fibromyalgia and migraine after eating lentils. I've been on a ketogenic diet for 1-2 years, but seeing that I can cook them in a fast pot, maybe I'll try again.

I have a question. I've been following your program for about 6 months now. I used many of your supplements. A recent trip caused me to eat items that I no longer normally eat surprisingly I didn't have the normal bad reaction. Is it possible my leaky gut had healed to the point of being more tolerant of some lectins. I don't want to add them back in on a regular basis. I just got curious why I tolerated some foods better.

Can't wait to begin program in 2021. One question however, I’ve been adhering to the blood-type protocol by Dr. Peter D’Adamo and believe in it merits (Dr. Gundry has mentioned his work). Do I continue to eliminate those items deemed bad for my blood-type, though they appear on Dr. Gundry’s list?

Dear Dr Gundry. I really appreciate what you are doing to help people like me. I have bought 2 of your books and have changed my diet. I feel better but my pee smells very strong and I have an acid taste in my mouth. Can you explain and help me with this. Is it a detox. It has been 6 months with diet change. I am A positive blood type. Thanks Sue. 💕
