Dr. Abdus Salam: Pakistan's Forgotten Hero Honoured in London
While Pakistan has removed all traces of Dr Abdus Salams name and covered up the word Muslim from his gravestone, here in London, his name and work live on.
Imperial College London, where Dr Salaam spent many years teaching and researching, has named its new library after him.
In 1974, in Dr Salaam’s homeland of Pakistan, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was officially declared as non-Muslim which sent a shockwave of distress through the hearts of Ahmadi Muslims worldwide, particularly in Abdus Salaam himself, his diary entry on that day simply read: “Declared non-Muslim, cannot cope”.
However, overcoming this setback he continued to pursue his passion and in 1979 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics.
Long forgotten and erased in his home country, his legacy, works, and achievements continue to be remembered and honoured throughout the rest of the world…

I remember there was a portrait of Dr. Abdus Salaam displayed on the wall of a top-tier engineering college in Rawalpindi, Pakistan & one day someone tore it, Luckily the administration did have some guts to repair that but in some other institutes, their administration simply felt it was okay to disrespect their national hero & forget him let alone honor him
