I briefly met David Spade in a posh hotel lobby in South Beach Miami in February 2007. My buddies and I were down there for Super Bowl XLI (Colts vs. Bears) hanging out in the lounge area having a drink. We asked David whether he was rooting for the Bears or the Colts. His answer..."Yes". He was very friendly and not at all snooty. Very funny and humble guy.

I saw David Spade at LAX late one night in about 1990. I was trying to get my friends’ attention to point him out, but they were oblivious. He recognized the situation, and gave me a big smile and a head nod. I nodded back and smiled. He seemed genuinely pleased to be recognized. I’ve met a lot of stars since then through work, but that was one of my favorite encounters. Always been a fan.

I never realized just what a likeable character David Spade is. Even though he is incredibly smart and creative he is not an egomaniac. Takes about 10 seconds to realize that he is nothing like the personas he uses in his acts.

I love David spade. He tells it how it is, and is really funny too. In this honest interview, he has just explained how to go for what you want in life and how hard it is to say a joke to an audience but they don’t laugh. Just shows that you really have to work to do that job and why it can be depressing even though it looks easy. Glad he worked for it. Comedians work for their job. Show what’s funniest to people then people wonder how they could be depressed as they are alway laughing

Wow. Over the past year I keep I've realized how underrated this guy is...and I keep seeing so many use the same word in the comments. This is a great interview, at first I thought he was a little sleepy, then I realized he was doing this as a serious look at his career. Funny throughout, but so interesting to hear his ideas on his life, his career, and how he views the process of being a comedian. I'd sort of thought he was just great at being a sarcastic wiseass, but he really puts so much thought and effort into what works. And comes off as grounded and realistic, not buying into any hype of thinking he's as great as we know he is. Even more respect for him now.

David Spade is funny. His best role is playing the cocky smart-witted straight guy. I loved him in Tommy Boy and Black Sheep. Maybe if they threw in Kevin James or Jonah Hill or Seth Rogan in a movie as the Chris Farley-type character, and made David Spade be his smart-witted cocky side-kick, it could work. Spade really doesn't shine when he's on his own. He's funnier when he's the straight man and has someone who's very eccentric to bounce off of. Spade is like Bud Abbot and Chris Farley was like Lou Costello. Abbot on his own was not a very funny comedian, but when paired with Lou Costello, he was tremendously funny at being the straight man.

David... just ride along with your singing, guitar playing, musician type buddies if you need a side trip away from writing and add a comedic role to the tour. While everyone is singing and playing, you can be ad-libbing on stage. I am heavily involved in music and a comedic act with the band would sell out better than just one actor or comedian on stage. Just think about it :)

He was a skirt chaser. I met him at Jets and sticks in Scottsdale. He was sitting all alone at a table on the patio. I told him My roomate (female) was a big fan. "Send her over" he said. He's older now. He probably has to deal with a lot few erections...and now he wants a different image.
