I'm 70 and living out in Pickering now. I moved out of Toronto at the end of 2010 after I lost my job. I use to love to walk around the city and visit the different neighbourhoods. In this way it allowed me to take in the energy of the city at that time. I really appreciate the work your doing here. Not only does it allow me to keep in touch with things in the big city but I can't help but feel that these walking videos you're doing will one day be valuable time-capsules for people in the future who want to visit this era in the city. And it helps that you have a very good road-side manner...thanks again from an old guy.

Likewise. In the late 70's, it was like a ritual to finish work on Friday, and go downtown to socialize. It is so good that Johnny keeps us "old folks" in the loop. Oh my, the city has changed. It doesn't take long for a city to change.

When the city started building condos along Richmond strip that was the beginning of the end. Then King Street has a run. But once again condo development killed that. The pandemic sealed the deal.

I'll never understand what continues to motivate people to stand in line for an hour, waiting to get into a mediocre bar/club, just so they dance all night and blow their cash on overpriced drinks. It's crazy how many people do this ritually every single week, hoping to get lucky and meet someone. All the dudes are trying to get lucky and bring some chick home for the night, usually getting blown off. Most of the women are either getting wasted with their friends or sitting and scrolling through dating apps. Really weird culture we're living in now.

I don't understand how (pedestrian) traffic lights work in Toronto. You're not supposed to cross the street on a continuous red+yellow light, I suppose. But for an allowing signal, some of them will show a cold blue light for a few seconds and change it into a blinking red+yellow palm (the international symbol STOP, by the way) and some will show continuous cold blue light. Who the hell even thought it was a good idea to start with? Here, in ex-USSR territories, red is for not allowed and green is for allowed to cross the street. End of the story.

Something in this video seemed off. At 7:23 as you were turning the corner, there is a white male, bald with white rimmed glasses with his arm 'possesivly' around the shoulders of what appears to be a small MUCH younger Asian girl. What got my attention was when she turned around and saw you with the camera, her face was full of fear and terror and she did NOT look comfortable in the situation she was in. She looked like she was not happy being with this male. When he turned to see you, he seems to quickly whisper something to her and she quickly turned her head back. I viewed this section in a slower motion rate That "look" seemed to signal she was being held against her will and possibly trafficked. Now, im not 100% about this, but I am going to ask others to look at this point in the video and see what others have to say. Maybe im over-reacting. Maybe I'm right...

@@Xander71267 True, but I wouldn't live there even if I could. And that doesn't change the fact that it's an ugly sterile city.

Nightlife was way better in the early to mid 2000s when the club row was on Adelaide. Now its all spread out & more like a bar vibe then a club vibe. Damn liberal hippies 😂.
