Organization is good in the kitchen. I am sure I have some expired hello and other mixes I should go through. I do have a lot of duplication. I really like the way Phyllis lined her cupboards with that clear cover and painted it all white. Very nice and no over crowding. Great video, thanks.

I think Phyllis is referring to my beloved Macintosh apples. They are so versatile and can be used for eating straight from the fridge or cooked pies, crumble, muffins and any other thing you can think of. Enjoy your apples and try them if you haven't 💕

Mciontosh apples. Great for pies. I miss Phyllis! I use a mixture of Macintosh, Winesap and granny Smith in my pies. I get my apples from a local apple farm. Many varieties are seasonal.

McIntosh, yes, they are great! The apple named for its founder, Canadian farmer John McIntosh, has flourished in New England for the past century. McIntosh is the region's leading apple, accounting for about two-thirds of the New England crop. McIntosh is particularly well-suited to New England's rocky soils and cool summer nights. (Yes, I live in N.E.)

How in God’s name do you have the time to do all this and make thousands of videos to help others ?? FYI that Apple is a Macintosh and it’s perfectly fine to use cast iron on your glass cooktop. I’ve been doing it for years with no harm done. There are many home cooks on KZread but in my opinion (and I should know bc I sit here all day watching them) you are my fav!!! Thanks for everything and keep em coming!!!

Hello Phyllis, I just wanted to add that if you want to get as much use out of your spices as you can, dont throw away old ones. Even the ones long past their date can still be used. Just put them into a pot on the back of your stove with some orange peel or whatever you have. Add water and simmer on low. Gives the house a wonderful smell without all the chemicals you get in air fresheners. Rosemary and banana peel are really good together.

Good job! When I was a young mother, an older mentor taught me to use an empty Kleenex box for plastic shopping bags. You wouldn't believe how many bags it will hold-- just stuff them in one at a time -- and the box is a more compact size than other things I have tried. Many yrs have passed and I still use this idea.

I've been watching Ms Phyllis' videos for like 3 years now, may she RIP, and god bless her how she used to include her You Tube community in her daily life. This insiders' look at what's behind her cabinets is actually a rare privilege-- seriously, who in heck does that? And I enjoyed it to the max! So anyway, sitting here watching this, I think for the first time, it occurred to me that she needed us-- surprising, since she seemed to have everything, but I do wonder, was she lonely for female companionship? someone to come in and just listen? I don't know, I realize this is armchair psychology. But all this time I've been grateful for her companionship, but come find out, all along, I guess we were giving her some much-needed companionship as well. I hope we gave her some comfort in her last months, especially after Mr. Bucky passed. I celebrate the fact that he and she are together again now, the cupboard cleaning is all over, and whatever reality they now live in is full of peace, grace and every good thing. I hope I get to meet them someday. Thanks for listening, everybody.

I think of storage in terms of CUBIC space. I scotch in extra shelving to store emergency backup supplies for freezing weather or storms. All can be neat. This applies for under sinks too - for extra bandaids in baths or extra cleaning supplies in kitchen. Yes it is good to have gadgets go to good homes, some I keep in containers out on the counters. Group like items in areas where used. Makes life so organized!

I am impressed with all your plumbing and electrical skills and inspired that you don't have to call in tradespeople, that so much can be learned and done oneself. You were so generous to show us all the inside of your kitchen cabinets and how well you thinned out and organized. Entire video, inspiring. And your having devotions each morning; the entire video is one gran inspiration. Thank you for sharing. Learned so much and was inspired in many ways. Phyllis is inspiring me to tackle this terrible messy house I'm in... If it's possible to throw away things you've kept for 40 years, it must be possible for me to give things I've been hoarding for 25 years. I never thought I would be able to do it & I thought my son would have to pay someone to empty the house out after I die. That's been depressing me. I feel inspired watching Phyllis & Mr Buckey, it really helps me, like having a Mother here still to help show me what to do.

Thank you for making me think about this once again and I promise you it will be moved up to top priority. So, why the heck do we live with a known headache for many many years.... Hi Phyllis, really liked the kitchen tour. Liked the idea of using plastic runner material for your lining too! Don't you feel soooooo much better? When everything is organized and you know what you have, you can really save on grocery buying, by not buying duplicates. I recently decluttered and organized our pantry/utility room and now on the 1st of every month I take a real fast inventory and straightening of the shelves, like they do in the grocery store. It has changed my life for when we go to the grocery store. I love knowing what we have in the pantry. I keep at least two of everything and some things I make sure there is 4-6. We also have a large prepper's shelf for 5 gal water and dry and canned shelf food. Radios and extra lights and bug out bags for both of us for any hurricanes and tropical storms, since we live in Florida. We've been blessed and have never had to use the prepper shelf. :) It is so physiologically refreshing when things are organized, not to mention what you are cutting off of your moving time. Thanks for the vid...

Dear Phyllis, I suffer from the very same kitchen fever for gadgets, dishes, pots, and all kinds of kitchen stuff. My small kitchen is bursting with so much stuff that I have overflowed into the nearby adjacent rooms. Plasticware takes up so much usable space and it seems the lid is elsewhere....LOL. I like an assortment of knives too, little ones, medium ones, all kinds. I have some of mine on the wall magnet which helps keep them visible and thus used more. They keep their sharp edge better that way too. Oh Phyllis if I had to go through a purge like you just did, I would agonize over it. I have some of my grandma's old pots that I think I will never use again, but keep because they remind me of her, and my first place when I was a poor young student. I use my cast iron skillet (on my glass cooktop, by the way) more than any other as it cooks the absolute best. You have done exceptionally well Phyllis and are to be commended. Your efforts will pay off when you move and find you have less stuff to haul up the mountain. Thank you for the tour of your kitchen. I like to see how others organize and use their kitchen space which always seems to be less than we think we need.

One helpful technique I tried this year because I feel such guilt at throwing food away... it was learned from a woman I think on KZread-- she cleans out her refrigerator to start the new year. I mean everything. Its like a jubilee -- all debts forgiven. Now I don't go that far but starting a new year with a clean refrigerator is super super nice. I am hoping that cleaning things out will help me not overbuy in the first place. Thanks for sharing.

WOW this video inspired me so much, I am a kitchen gadget person and I don't have 2 of everythign I think I have 5 of everything. I hope to be able to do this I want to take one cabinet at a time and LET GO of things. I have so many measuring cups when I want one I can't find the one I am looking for because I have 5 or 10 of each one and when I am looking I find every size I need except the one i need. Also I am a spice collector you have inspired me to down size on them for sure, yesterday I was looking for Parsley and I had to look through 4 cabinets, on the back of the basement door and through a set of shelving in the walk in pantry and I still couldn't find it!! I got so angry I got a basket and just started unloading spices from the cabinets into the basket LOL this is good I watched this I can check for outdated and old spices some I had 4 and 5 of because I had forgot what one I already had because I couldn't find it and bought another, I am tossing the oldest ones and only keeping the new ones and ONLY 1 of each LOL I love Radar knives and I have a bunch of them I do have a magnet knife holder on the wall over the counter where I clip them it is easy but my junk drawers and silver ware drawers are so stuffed you can't even find what you are looking for, I have 3 one gallon crocks I keep my working utensils in and they are over flowing also I MUST get rid of things!!!

I did not know pasta had an expiration date! I looked at my pasta and one of the packages had expired a year-and-a-half ago. A couple of my spices I bought when one of my sons was into making doughnuts, when he was 14, he is 25 now.

You are such an inspiration Phyllis and make we laugh about when the drawer came flying out, I could visualize it very well because it sounds just like something I would do or have done. I can't remember that far back. HaHa How about when you have time to give us another update on the pups and how they are doing, I love watching them and truly love animals, I lost all three of my loveys Bubba Girl, Stinky Girl, and P-Nut in a year and so sad, but I look forward to seeing them again one day at Rainbow Bridge. Sending you love for strength and prayers to God for you and your loved ones.

Miss Phyllis---keep those iron skillets and enjoy using them outside on the grill. In a recent storm which caused my electricity to be out for 4 days, I made wonderful meals on the grill using iron skillets---bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, toast--love iron skillets

I got rid of my full matching set of dishes and got just 4 non matching plates and bowls that really appealed to me. They are all different but very pretty. And the apple you held up looks like our Macintosh apples (I'm in Canada). They are crisp and good for baking and eating raw.

Yes that happens. It happened to me twice. Stinks when you go to use pasta and find tiny bugs.

The apples might be MacIntosh. You can get in mountains of NC, VA, if they have that orchard. My friend loves them also. We used them for cooking bc they were so crisp.

We use plastic some times instead of paper plates. We use regular plates for most dinner and instead of paper plastic. Get them cheap at walmart.

Hello Phyllis! I am a fairly new subscriber but feel like I know you because we have so much in common. I lived in Norfolk and Va Beach for many years and my husband worked at the Newport News shipyard as an investigator for quite a while. We had a cabin that we restored in the mountains while living and working in Va Beach.i won't go into more detail but there were many other areas that clicked, especially the fact that we are born again Christians. I love your videos and appreciate the time and effort it takes to do them. Tell Mr Bucky hello, he and my hubby could be brothers, they really favor! Your kitchen looks wonderful, great job! Hugs to you both!💕
