Downpatrick Head Sea Stack Climb
Living 80m off Downpatrick Head on the north coast of Co Mayo in the Republic of Ireland is the iconic Dún Briste Sea Stack. Landed on by helicopter in the 80's and climbed once before in 1990. In this film Iain Miller and Paulina Kaniszewska make a very rare ascent of Dún Briste sea stack.
the story of the ascent is www.uniqueascent.ie/sp/article....

There is a broken medieval quern stone visible in 2 35 (ring shape). It is positioned exactly as it was in 1981 when scientists found it. There's even a video footage of it on RTE Radio 1 archive.
My grandad owns the sea stack and the surrounding land and he has written a book about downpatrick head and the surrounding area in county mayo the book is called the road to downpatrick head by Donal McCormick and is for sale in most newsagents and tourists shops in mayo
Thank you!! After seeing a picture of this amazing piece of land I thought to myself I have to see someone climb it!
You got to be Shxtting Me !!! My mother was born a stones throw from the stack in Killeen in 1904.
