I saw a Dauntless at a surplus shop in Charlotte,NC in 1958- i vividly remember the perforated dive flaps.

You don't start a radial. You wake it up.

My grandma was a SBD Rosie the riviter at Douglas.

That’s awesome. Did you ever get the opportunity to hear her talk about her experiences as RTR? I’ve had the privilege of meeting several during my career as a paramedic. Some tell some amazing stories.
