A real piece of American history! I love the sound of the 9 cylinder radials, each cylinder displacing over 200 cubic inches.
The airplane that won the Battle of Midway!! They sunk 4 Japanese carriers, Kaga, Akagi, Soryu and Hiryu.....
My grandma could have had a part in building that a/c.
SBD Slow But Deadly
slow but deadly saved our bacon at Midway and many other battles
Dive bombers just have something special. Beautiful plane! I would like to,see it flying (and diving) together with the JU 87 Stuka
piloted by....."Matt Garth."
She looks and sounds great!
I was at the same event
Gorgeous video. Thank you for recording, editing, and posting. Especially appreciate your omission of any music other than the lovely radial engine. Curious, with the obvious items reflecting authenticity, if the bomb ejection mechanism is functional, or required to be demilitarized by the FAA or other, and if they (Planes of Fame) would actually take the plane up to altitude and use the brakes, or that would put too much stress on an irreplaceable exemplar - and same question for the tail hook ?
