Damn, I've always appreciated Doug's comedy but that ending was straight up philosophy. "Don't learn from other peoples' mistakes ... You might be the first guy who can do it right and be a hero for all of us, take a chance and learn to fly.

Stanhope is indeed up there with Hicks & Carlin. Prophets, all!! Finally got to see him live here in Indianapolis recently.

I've lived by the "excess in moderation" philosophy since I first saw this years ago. Watching Doug live is one of the few items on my bucket list.

AHHHHH, I love it when Doug sticks the bottle up to his eye socket for some reason. Luckily, even saw him do it live here in Dublin.

***** Stanhope takes shrooms too. There's an extra on one his DVD's that's set up like a PSA that says something like "warning, if you take drugs, this could happen to you" and then cuts to Doug and a friend in a hotel room on shrooms giggling and having fun for half an hour.

+Foggy Goggle Doug does 'shrooms more than anything, that, coke, booze and cigs. He talks about this camping trip he goes on every year where he and his friends are in the desert for a week doing massive amounts of drugs and one year they had left over coke and mushrooms so they cut the mushrooms up with the coke, the mixture was called "Mocaine" and they snorted it. LOL

My experience started with keeping one foot in the coffin and never back peddled since. The trick was finding someone to stare over the edge of the mountain. When looking for company at 5 am, all my associates would be sprawled around the apartment passed out. No one ever stayed up with me long enough to look back down on yourself. Amazing.

You don't have to like Doug Stanhope to realize he is raising issues that ARE relevant. In the same way that a challenge will make you better at whatever you do, politically incorrect views starts a debate. Doug Stanhope is more of a preacher than a comic to me, but I fucking love him. Bill Hicks was a god, Doug is Jesus.
