What the WNBA needs is a rivalry akin to Magic-Bird. They won't have it this year, but next season, Paige Bueckers will enter the league, setting up what could be the W's first great rivalry with Clark.

Yep. That's the thing the WTA tour has. There is a deep rivalry between Elina Svitolina and all Russian and Belarusian players. She despises them and won't even shake their hands after a match so it becomes fun to watch her matches in hopes that the Russian or Belarusian players will bagel her. The WTA also has a pretty healthy rivalry between the #1 player and the #2 player who have epic final matches against each other which can go either way. Both Iga Świątek and Aryna Sabalenka are mentally tougher than KD who would be way too soft for the top level of the WTA tour.

There's a whole different dynamic with women's sports. A dirty secret is that in their early days, interest in both the NFL and NBA were sustained in large measure by illegal gambling. Who gambles on women's sports? It would be an interesting study to see metrics on sportsbooks of how much gambling on goes with the WNBA relative to the NBA. Or the men's versus women's Final Four? Bracket pools for women? Caitlin Clark had better be Larry Bird, or this will not go well. Pete Maravich was a unforgetable, generational talent, but he had many bad breaks which neutered his NBA career. Stars must align.

I follow the WTA just as much as I follow the ATP tour. The WNBA just doesn't appeal to me though I love watching the NBA. I have nothing against women sports, but the NBA is just a better product than the WNBA which is a chore to watch given that its pretty much a jumpshot and layup league.

Toronto... Look, the people there have a great CFL football team that rarely sells out and you think those same people are going to attend a WNBA game during the summer? We are seeing why women should not be leaders as it is Written - 26yrs losing on average $12-$15 million per year, and they're still open for business. But, these women believe that creating more debt will increase profits? By the way, the chartered flights are not for all the teams - just Indiana for now. You do know that women holistically own 80% of the world's debt, right, lol 😂😆😂😆.... Unreal...

Toronto is a great idea and what may be the final test for the WNBA. It's a new and desperate market and it may be able to attract most of Canadian sports fans because - what else do they have that is not from the US? Is this flops, then it may be better to explore US markets that don't have pro sports teams, as they MAY be happy to get something.

@@HardCold-Alquan They should bring back the Comets. They folded simply because the Rockets didn't want to shoulder the financial burden for that team and the Comets could not find any donors. But they can try again. WNBA is becoming a hot commodity now. Also, they need to have teams in locations where a) there is not a lot of competition with male sports teams and b) in locations where women's basketball is very popular. That is why we have the Connecticut Sun. Also, a Tennessee team would be good. Canada doesn't do well with American Sports - outside of Hockey. All I can say is, if Canada does not work, then Alabama probably wouldn't either. That Golden State team should NOT be called GS, it should be called The Bay or SF. There should only be one team called GS, since it is unique to them, but really, any Cali team use that name. Probably not legally.

@@HardCold-Alquan I understand the point about the Casino. The point still remains that the Sun cached on the popularity of the college team. As for the California team? Regardless of the name - I just don't think there needs to be many california teams. Even in men's sports, California is known to not be exceptionally supportive unless the team is doing very well - because there is just so much to do. The same is true of Florida. That's why the Miami Sol folded. Alabama has NO professional teams. It's just a college football and racing state. But if they want to go to Canada that is one them.
