Look at that it’s a race between 70013 and 44932

Brilliant, excellent shot. Both loco travelling at same speed, White smoke, whistles. Liked.

There's a brilliant video from one of the passengers onboard the express. In that video you can see the express overtake the Black 5 until it gets to around half way down the train and then the driver of the Black 5 leans in and yanks the throttle wide open.

Superb! Such valuable footage, as it may not happen again for a long time, if ever. I was sitting in Northallerton on a delayed 225 due to a broken rail at Northallerton and having missed the SSE at York as a result this video is great compensation for that. Well done!

So that is what it looked like from outside. I was on the SSE. Historic shot. First time for me leaving York behind steam, plus the side by side running of the two steam locomotives. 5* video.

How is a black five faster than a Brit? One of the most amazing scenes in railway preservation, period. I know this is old, kinda wish I was old enough to go out and film this, but I was like 7/9 back then.

am I the only one thinking that the drivers may have had a little race trying to see which one of their engines goes the fastest. As when I watched the other video when 70013 overtook 44932 44932 suddenly sped up.

This is something that NEVER happens in Britain. But in other parts of the world like Europe and especially Australia, they do it all the time

Congratulations on avoiding the modern craze of tracking locos with a zoom and destroying all impression of speed. This is how steam loco bearing down on you really looked.
