As an oboist myself, get a better oboe before a English horn. I recommend a fox 333 for a plastic oboe. It will last you years and lower maintenance 👍🏽

I have a 1907 Holton alto, a 1914 King H.N White Tenor, a mid 1920s Wurtlizer American C Melody Sax, a black and gold Taishan bari, a Schiller black nickel curved soprano, and a Schiller straight Sopranino

I've seen a few deals pop up, I would set up some eBay alerts, they do show up there. For cheap that will need to be looked at by repair tech, but you still get a decent working instrument for $1200 - $4000 instead of $10,000+ lol
