This is re-recorded from the unreleased songs for the film. Unable to secure the rights to release those recordings, Donovan recorded an acoustic version of the lush original recordings.

Donovan did release a new album called Gaelia in December 2022. David Gilmour of Oink Floyd played lead guitar in two of Donovans songs. Great mandolin and guitar on that album !

Love this song so much. Been listening to Donovan since I was a young teenaged girl....oh, so long, long ago. Have most every album, books and poster and been to many concerts over the years. Well...here is a few questions. Wonder if the song "The Promise" will ever be released on an album? I know you can listen to it "live" version on KZread but would like to be able to listen to as a studio release on a CD. Next question 😊 Many years ago, you sang the beautiful song, "Be Not Too Hard" in the 1960's British movie, " Poor Cow" but sadly, (as far as I know), never released on an album or CD. Unfortunately, in the movie, as you listen to the song, before the song ends, you start to hear the actor talking as the song is still being sung. I Love that song SO much, and would love to be able to hear it, without the movie dialogue in the background. Is there a way to find it, if it was EVER released separate from the movie? Thank you.
