Donna Summer - Love To Love You Baby' backstory

"Love to Love to Love You Baby", the international success of the 1975 disco was the first hit music of Donna Summer. The singer recorded the song alone in the studio, as she said in future statements, thinking of her boyfriend Peter.

I met the lovely Donna in a mall in Nashville. I was so excited that I even recognized her... minding her own business looking at clothes I could not help myself and went straight up to her and said your Donna Summer! Yes she said ever so quiet with a smile on her face. We had a lovely conversation. We could have talked more, she didn't mind at all. What a memory, she's gracious and beautiful, I had no idea she died until today...May 2023. Thank you Donna for all that you are and will be forever in our hearts. ❤

You and I are about the same age. Listening to this interview is both funny and slightly painful. I know that ANY music you want these days is available on CD or download. However, this was one of the first albums I bought when I was in HS. Back then I used to think I could be a talent scout for when I heard this album I felt Donna Summer was going to be HUGE!!! I marveled at how she was able to sing a very realistic falsetto ( which is how she sang this song among others) and also belt with her "big" voice. I remember some of the other tracks sounded somewhat like Country ( a song with "Pandora's Box" in the lyric comes to mind). The sadness is because this vinyl LP I purchased years ago among others was lost during the hurricanes of 2017. It had been sitting at my mother's house all these years. She had collaborated with this Giorgio Moroder on a LOT of her music. I remember the name very well. It's funny. She was probably living her life in Germany and probably had no immediate intentions of returning to America. Fate had other plans!!

I'm British and at the time the record came out I was working as cabin crew, flying regularly to New York. Her hit is iconic ... and, like the Bee Gee's hits encapsulates the fantastic feeling of the 1970s. What a lovely person she is, and what a great talent.

This totally makes sense because she often acted like a goofball. Regardless, Giorgio knew that was it and went with it, and so did Donna. They succeeded bigly.

To Donna summer; a true artist whose music and inspiration will continue even after THIS generation. Thank you for the great music and the sexy groove of the 70's because you knew how to rock it. LOL. R.I.P.

Watched some of the HBO Documentary because of the “sexual” content which is mild in comparison to what we see & hear today, it aired at midnight, after about an hour I had to force myself to turn it off & get some sleep for work the next day it was so good. I was amazed by how groundbreaking she was in her career. She changed the sound of music by being the first to use a techno sound & she was the first black female Artist to have a video shown on MTV. I love Donna❣️
