Donald showed up with a sound game plan!!! For once he realized his potential and boxed beautifully!!! Holyfield would have knocked him out though when he was younger. This holyfield was past his prime.

Ghetto Wizard. This Holyfield was not on PEDs and not blood doped as he used to be for all his big $ fights. Can you imagine James Toney -- a puffed up old middleweight -- beating him? Inconceivable. Also, Donald was still a second tier bum.

@@stephenbanks5860I don't think there would be a chance of that. The Holyfield pre 1994 was way too fast for a light hitter like Donald to be able to stay away from. Holyfield would have battered him relentlessly. During that stage of Holyfield's career, he was indominable.

@@johnulmer1622 I believe Donald would be a formidable challenge for even a pre-1994 Holy. I grant you that Holy may have probably won, but I don't think it would have been a walk in the park. To say that he would batter him relentlessly is a big stretch IMO. LDonald was no slouch, a very skilled fighter. I mean a 42 y/o Holmes almost beat Holy in 1992. I understand Donald is no Holmes, but still.

@Willy Brown lol you obviously dont know anything, in 2nd fight Tyson just won round 3, lost both first and second rounds. He won 3rd round because he gave his 110% after which he realised he cant hurt Holyfield at all. He was done after round 3, since tank was empty. It would have been all Holyfield if fight continued. So he went fo bite since its better to get disqualified than humiliated once again. If they fought 10 more times, Holyfield woulf beat him all 10 times.

Holyfield seemed like the one only going for the kill if he faced tough opponents. Against lesser opponents he was doing sparring instead. People are comparing that with Tyson highlights. They had completely different mentality. Tyson was both more aggressive and more explosive, and knew he had more chances if he knocked the opponent out in early rounds. Evander knew he could win by points and just pressuring for twelve rounds. He was there for the fight. And he didn’t have the knockout power for highlight reels.

    Жыл бұрын

The first fight was dominant by Bowe but it was still the fight of the year. The second fight was close when Bowe was badly out of shape. You could make an argument for either guy there, I was happy to see Hollyfield get the win though. The third fight Hollyfield wasn't right. Aside from knocking down Bowe for the first time in his career, it was a one sided fight in Bowe's favor to the extent that at one point George Foreman was standing and yelling at the referee to stop the fight. Bowe was just not a great matchup for Evander. He was too big for him and just as skilled. He also was stronger than him and Evander's warrior instincts would kick in and create exciting sequences where he was outmatched. Hollyfield was in his prime though a great champion. He fought everyone. Sure he lost some fights. But he was willing to take them. From the three fights with Bowe, two more with Lewis, two with Tyson, two with Moorer, to guys like Ray Mercer. They were all fun fights. Even fights where we thought he should have won easily but turned into wars like the Foreman and Cooper fights, people got their money's worth. It's also no shame to lose to Bowe. Imo Bowe was the best heavyweight in the early 90s. Up until the Golota fights. It's a shame he won't go down as a great champion because he simply couldn't keep himself motivated between fights. But his combination of size, quickness, and skill was extraordinary. The fact that a guy his size could so easily slip and roll with punches and be competitive with smaller guys while infighting made him special. What made Evander special was his warrior mentality. And that made for entertaining fights no matter who he fought in his prime.

holyfield had an excuse for Everytime he lost. here he later said he lost because of a shoulder injury and he blamed his loss to James Toney on that hurt shoulder!!! JAMES LIGHTS OUT TONEY BEAT HIM LIKE A RED HEADED STEP CHILD AND HIS SHOULDER HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, JUST LIKE HERE, THE OTHER GUY WAS BETTER ON THIS NIGHT!!!
