Donald Trump threatened with jail after contempt of court fine | BBC News
Donald Trump has been fined $9,000 for violating the court’s gag order imposed to stop him attacking jurors and potential witnesses in his hush-money trial.
Judge Merchan ruled against Trump on 9 out of 10 contempt charges and imposed a financial penalty of $1,000 (£799) per violation.
The Judge added that if Mr Trump continues to flout the court’s prohibitions on attacking witnesses, potential witnesses, jurors, and court staff - he could face time in jail.
In his trial, Trump is accused of trying to cover up a $130,000 (£104,500) payment to porn star Stormy Daniels before he won the 2016 election, which prosecutors say was election interference

Even most conservatives, right wing legal scholars and experts acknowledge the facts of this case are not complicated. It’s whether prosecutors can adequately prove Trump’s direct knowledge and involvement, and whether or not the crime, the falsifying of business records warrants jail time. However, everyone agrees potential federal cases on his role in Jan 6th and the classified documents case adjudicate much more grave constitutional questions.

No, the secret service are making plans for this currently. In the short term he'd likely be kept in the court's holding cell. He will keep his secret service protection in prison which will mean likely putting him on his own somewhere either in an unused wing of a prison or a temporary building on prison grounds. Depending on which crime he's convicted for the judge may end up deciding it's too expensive to jail him and give him house arrest instead.

yes he shouldnt be allowed to tell folk the judges daughter is making millions off this case and the judge is baied cause its his daughter,and the fact that the judge has donated some of that profit to biden and this is litearlly a made up witch hunt,trump shouldnt be allowed to defend himself cause it makes biden look bad!
Sometimes there are certain people that you just leave alone. They are way more powerful than the law. By prosecuting him , all you are doing is help to elect him as president. Rather have a go at prosecuting him after his next term is over. But I think the idea was to try and stop him from doing his next term.

...more like 9 cents, if that! Total disregard for the law which he presided over. Nine times and he gets a fine! As if it was not already clear enough that the law for the poor and rich is not the same. Not even close! 15 pairs of his trainers at best. One follicle of his hair probably cost him more. People in authority should be setting an example as I am sure the majority of your Police officers do. If trump's behaviour goes unpunished what example does that set? He would have let the U.S. descend into civil war if he thought it would have kept him in power and he gets a pass. C'mon America what does this guy have to do before you say too much???? Attempt to incite civil war himself???..........Wait what? I have seen Judge Judy deal out harsher punishments and it wouldn't take 9 times!
