Bro. But like seriously? Wtf? You've demonstrated that you can count to ten. This is all literally just counting though. If you can count up, you can count down. After that, it's all reliant on your ability to use logic. Visualizations can help, but ultimately, I'm not doing you a service as your parent by telling you the answer to the problem. You can only hint so much before you're just doing it for them; and that can end up disrupting the child's ability to naturally grasp concepts and hurt their overall self reliance.

My dad grew up in the rural areas of cajun country. He didn't get spankings or hit with a flipflop or shoe. He was given a pocket knife and told to cut a switch. See, a switch is a long, very thin, very flexible tree branch. You cut one and bring it back and then you get a beating on the back end. Try to cheat and get one that's brittle and breaks? Then your mom goes out and cuts one of her own and you get twice as much. Its even worse if you piss grandma off because she'll get three of them and braid them together. Yo ass about be beat with a pleated braid. Once you're done, you're going back outside and getting back to your chores. Even to this day, my aounts and uncles fear my grandma. No joke my uncle ran his mouth in her presence and my aunt (his sister) slapped him, they both realized they goof'd and my grandma was so angry she says to my aunt "slap him again". My aunt knew better than to refuse and slapped my uncle again.

That cookbook thing is spot on. I've had several of my Asian friends "teach" me how to cook. Example a friend from Sri Lanka used color to spice his chicken. Add some red (chili), some yellow (turmeric), some black (pepper), some brown (cumin), and some round (mustard). If it's too red add more yellow, if too orange add brown, etc.

No joke, my mother would give out treats to all the children in the neighborhood. I asked for water because I couldn't reach it and I wasn't allowed to climb. She said wait until dinner. I'm from California and we had a heat wave. No, I didn't get a treat either.

I’m a US senior citizen now, but growing up Asian in the Phil oh my, you just made me remember everything so typical I went through to make me get to the US in the first place. My parents had one goal for me and by golly, by hook or by crook it better happen. Lol! All the education in the world were preplanned and executed in getting me here and I had very little input to it. Same thing with my little sister. We’re both here now. It’s the Asian way or the highway. Lol! So you’re right and you just wrapped great humor into it so we can all laugh after the fact. Btw, by the time hubby and I had two boys growing up as American kids, we did forget a few things American, we, like most Asian parents, repeated the old Asian way or the highway again. And now both boys are glad we did. One is a lawyer the younger is in finance. Lol! History tended to repeat itself for us. Asians can’t help it. They’ll probably repeat history themselves for their kids. As for you you will continue to have more content to humor us with. Great show btw..
