It Is Crusade An alternate version of Emiya could have a legend. Shirou after UBW or Miyuverse Shirou are both ahead of where Archer’s abilities were at the same time in his timeline so they could potentially become quite powerful on their own and acquire their own legends.

@@FoxtailVAThey'd be a different person in the same way that Shirou is different from Archer. Miyuverse Shirou was about to collapse because of his time imprisoned by the Ainsworths - there's a good chance he was malnourished. Anyone in a similar state would be about to collapse, mage or not. UBW Shirou is not likely to contract with Alaya, yes. But he could still do so. It is very difficult for modern age people to become Heroic Spirits, but in the future there will likely be some heroes from this age. It's likely that UBW Shirou will be one since he still holds on to his ideal of being a Hero of Justice. Perhaps more similar to Nameless in Extra, where a legend of him exists but it didn't record his name. Though I think Nameless still made a contract, just with the Moon Cell and not Alaya. Another possibility is for Shirou to become something like Assassin from Stay Night - not a true Heroic Spirit but summoned as a kind of "stand-in" for another hero that doesn't actually exist. Kind of like a wraith. Such a fate would fit well with a faker.

@@guesswho8556 Let me put it this way... If Emiya were to use UBW against Berserker at any point, wounded or not, it would literally be over JUST as quickly as if it were Gil "fighting" Herc.

@@guesswho8556 It doesn't change the fact that Emiya has seen an inconceivable amount of blades and can break his weapons to negate that down-rank. Also, certain swords that have the + modifier to their rank have attacks that exceed their base ranking, while swords like caliburn can take out multiple Herc lives in one go. Also, both Shirou and Archer have seen more of Gil's swords than Gil even used against Herc, so... Yeah. Most swords in UBW are useless against Herakles *unless they are Broken or their attack can multi-kill him*. That, and you are forgetting that Herakles rank based invulnerability also lets through non-Servant based A rank attacks, which are on a lower scale than Servant and NP rankings. Someone like Rin can make a rank A attack with jewels and kill Herakles once, even though her attack will have less power than a B ranked phantasm.

@@guesswho8556 It's almost like I just explained that and you said I was wrong! I just explained Noble Phantasms are ranked differently from other attacks. I used the + modifier as an example of NP's reaching above their base rank, not to explicitly say B+ NPs go through Godhand. But, the fact is it's possible for a base B ranked NP to elevate itself to A ranked similar to the + modifier. As an example, Rider has Monstrous Strength rank B, but the more she uses it the higher it ranks up, until it gets to A+, because she gradually turns into the Gorgon. Another example is Gae Bolg when Cu uses it's ranged attack,although it doesn't rank up as high as A rank. The point I am making, is that an NP can be ranked higher than it's base depending on how you use it. The absolute best example relevant to this argument, that you cannot even argue with because it near completely wrecked Herc in canon, is Caliburn. The sword is literally a B rank at it's base, not even + modifier. But it killed Herc 7 times in one go, because surprise surprise, it can up rank to A+ and be an essentially single-use Excalibur.

Here''s some of EMIYA's other feats and abilities: He's the only servant who actually managed to get past Assassin in UBW before Assassin was weakened from mana shortage, since we see him later in the Tohsaka mansion after Assassin says he'll kill him. Which is impressive considering Kojiro managed to repel servants like Lancer and Saber. It's mentioned he managed to defeat Caster, Rider and most importantly Lancer when sniping on the bridge in Hollow Ataraxia, Shirou and Saber only defeated him after Shirou exploited his knowledge of the loops to launch Saber the moment Archer fired his arrow. In the visual novel, it's briefly mentioned that he actually managed to start forcing Lancer back during their first fight when he started spamming his projections, which shows how Archer is good enough in straight up melee to be capable of beating a somewhat nerfed Lancer Even with Sakura as a master, Rider was losing against Archer with her blood fort up before she used her eyes, and if Rin didn't stop him from breaking out his reality marble he probably could've killed both of them. His defensive game is so good that it's mentioned multiple times in the visual novel that Saber shouldn't have been able to get through it when they first fought and that he must have been surprised somehow. Unlike Gil's GoB, EMIYA's UBW is capable of replicating the techniques and stats of previous wielders when he projects an NP, allowing him to bring out the true power of NPs in a way Gilgamesh simply can't. He is the best cook we've seen in the Fate series so far.

Emiya is a smart dude. Maybe not like Itachi or shikamaru genius. But he's definitely one of the smarter servants and with knowledge of any other hero he would do well in any Grail war. He could turn the heads of literally histories top tiers and he's just a dead mage with a real emo streak

Everybody seems to underestimate Emiya, but as I understand it, Nasu said that Emiya was designed basically as a direct parallel and thus counter to Gilgamesh, who Nasu designed to be OP as fuck. Emiya is a badass for someone who's basically just a guy compared to the others. Definitely one of my favorites.

Point of fact: in the UBW route, when he goes to face Gil, in the VN if nowhere else, Shirou notes that against any of the other servants his abilities would likely lose out, but his abilities seemed to have just been perfectly matched for Gil.

@@ChubbyMooshroom9 That Shirou is slowly becoming EMIYA as seen from whitening of his hair and tanning of skin due to influence of using install card, inheriting EMIYA"s characteristics (his origin, magecraft, and ultimately also able to manifest UBW).

Everyone compares EMIYA to Gilgamesh, and part of that parallel is how Gilgamesh is a born winner, with an OP ability. Shirou/EMIYA was born with no knowledge of his power, and had to fight tooth and nail to master it, and is always at risk of skewering himself with it. Gilgamesh is the first hero of humanity, Emiya is the last hero (no we're not counting FGO event characters). Hell, even their skills are foils. Gilgamesh has Golden Rule and a high Luck stat, meaning that without even trying he gets wealthy and successful. EMIYA has Eye of The Mind and a shitty Luck stat, meaning he has to analyze his surroundings and has to play his cards right just to make the cut, leaving nothing to chance. Gilgamesh has Divinity, showing that he stands high above others in all forms. EMIYA has Magecraft at a C, showing that he's not even that special at the one thing he does. Gilgamesh has Charisma, meaning he has a talent for getting people's attention, and is painfully honest about everything. EMIYA has to lie, cheat, and manipulate to get where he needs. Gilgamesh's Clairvoyance is EX, meaning he sees past and future and thus doesn't care for individuals or their circumstances. EMIYA only has a C, allowing him to only see the people in the now, and his whole desire is to 'stop people from hurting in front of him'. The Gate of Babylon is the 'original' of every legendary weapon. UBW is a degraded imitation. We never see what Gilgamesh's treasury looks like. Fights in UBW are widely considered the most plot-important. Gate of Babylon has many kinds of treasures, and they're implied to be real solid objects from the past. UBW only has one type of object, and they're all just magical illusions. Gate of Babylon has Ea, a weapon that predates all other weapons. Muramasa used all the swords of UBW to craft Tsumukari Muramasa, a weapon that only existed in concept. I don't think a better parallel could exist in FSN.

EMIYA, in the field of Magecraft he specializes in, is extremely good at it due to his Origin and Element and Reality Marble. He is the master of his craft. In general Magecraft? He is absolute shite due to his Element and Origin. But in the area he shines in, Tracing? He has no rivals besides himself. Hell, his Structural Analysis, Gradation Air, and Reinforcement, those three magecrafts that form the basis of Tracing, he is an absolute god and goes beyond any magus.

@@fbitm8089 in terms of the mage world, emiyas mage craft is only overshadowed by the great magics, other than that almost all mage craft technically falls behind trace because while its a false noble phantasm just the fact that its a copy already makes it powerful and it also copies the amount of mystery in a weapon if im not mistaken

I can't stress this enough, this one thing people keep forgetting, is that every other servant receives most of their power from Alaya through their myths and legends - how strong a servant is corresponds with how famous they are. Emiya literally has *zero* of that. He's just a guy like you or me and the only magics available to him were Projection and Enhancement, yet he managed to work on that to its best and stand toe to toe with literal gods and superhumans. Would any of us be able do what he did? I truly admire this sassy red bastard a lot.

Wilthewise He still has a legend, at least as the ‘mastermind of the conflict’. Even as a scapegoat, he was remembered as being involved. It’s not much of a legend but it still counts for something. I’m not saying he’s going to get as grand a tale as Artoria’s and get a major boost, but he has a legend of some sort.

He have alaya protection as counter guardians...the result is his UBW, he got it after being engaged, and become inhuman. Sure, other spirit strong because they were not just born from alter-world, but also their tales. Shirou on other hand, was know as nameless, he don’t have name, no one remember him. Even if other servants saw his UBW, i’m doubt that they will recognise who he is. He is no hero, he is no god...he is just a mere mage chasing broken dream.

The best thing about Archer is how damn pragmatic and smart he is when fighting other servants. Sure in a straight up brawl he probably wouldn't be able to win but thats never been Archers style (except when he beat up Shirou) instead he's a guy with a very large bag of tricks and knows how to use them in the most effective way possible.

EMIYA'S feats vary wildly but he's kinda like Gilgamesh. Since his projection analysis is basically photographic memory, his armory will continuously grow as long as he exists in the franchise. This means his utility will always enable him to keep up with the power creep and he'll still be lethal to some high tiers

I generally think it would be terrifying if we get a Shiromasa Demi servant. Not just a pseudo servant where they just use someone as a vessel. Think about it, in the best case scenario if Shirou and Muramasa got along and share their knowledge with one another, Muramasa would no longer be limited with the ability to only replicate his own works, Shirou would have the physical strength and mana to properly use the fighting style he copied from archer, UBW gives more swords to feed to Tsumukari Muramasa. Hell, depending on the version we can even give Shiromasa Rho Aias, just imagining this skillset makes me feel disgusting. It’s so bloody broken.

Emiya is by far one of the best balanced Servants in the Nasuverse. Great defense skill, so long as he takes enormous risk with each close dodge. Nearly infinite amount of weapons and techniques, hindered by mediocre stats. Insanely powerful NP, with a huge mana consumption and a chant. He is so well thought out.

Defense? If you count rho aias...or avalon then yes, he have the greatest wall to cover either of them powerful enough to counter most NP. But his basic defense is extremely weak, even with add on abilities from his suit and his blades.

FBill 04 nah, his durable is just b+. You could check stats again... yes, without using rho aias (only shield archer had - aka he lost avalon since made contract with alaya). Second, you may not notice but his black suit (armor) help him increase substantial defense, also when he wield both kanshou vs bakuya, his magic and defense also increase. But he, himself had the least defense of all servant. Sure he better than normal human being (since he is spirit) but no where near those legendaries nor demi-god (aka hercules, medusa, Cú, Gil)

It always pains me to see people underrate the OG servants but especially Emiya, Medusa and Medea. Those 3 are actually insanely strong.

Ah, facts on Archer breaking out of Medea's binding spell: It's actually not magic resistance that does it. It's specifically designed to work against enemies with resistance, by only freezing the air *around* the person, and not acting upon them directly. Emiya gets out because he had already thrown a set of Kanshou and Bakuya earlier, and they came back from behind Caster, forcing her to block them and breaking her concentration on the spell.

Major underestimations. The guy can just look at a servant and then all his skills and master of said weapon he can copy it. Granted the copied Noble Phantasm aren't as powerful as the original once he puts mana into them he can activate a broken phantasm that annihilates the enemy.

A little nit pick here sorry. He actually need to see the weapon not the servant to copy their weapon and skills. And i agree with you. He could be a pain in tha ass in a fight agaisnt almost any servant. Whether he wins them or not.

Archer's stats are low, but even as Shirou, he's fought against stronger, faster, and tougher opponents over and over. He's so used to being outclassed in every way that he's developed ways to make up for his weaknesses.

I don't think anyone sleeps on emiya. Fsn without ubw he took many lives out of herc. Nasu said he could have won against herc with it or with more support. Ubw he managed to fight many servants and still survive until he last saw Rin. Hf he managed to fight Hassan who killed half the cast and archer arm with shirou beats herc and salter. Kalied as a card his power in illya beat so many servants then with shirou he bested all the puppets and helped save miyu

@@axelaliens153 well new fans will never understand how important the fsn name reveals were as both shirou and emiya have to fight litteral gods in most fights with thier magus skills and Mana alone. It's both good and bad we get fans from fgo but wish more at least saw ubw and zero anime as they are tops in story telling progression compared to the other anime and movie. Same with most of the fsn cast like Rin and Gil. Rin was able to blow a life off and blitz Medea mixing both old and new styles of being a magus while because Gil lost in the original story some think he is weak when nasu said he could win the war in a day against everyone if he was serious. He loses most of the time being blitzed by everyone aside fsn where saber had Avalon. Shirou was a faster fight catching him off guard and Sakura through some bull had to immediately get rid of him as he was that dangerous(to the plot). Even accell zero proves it by them specifically all jumping Gil at once to kill him before he could react.

@@axelaliens153 the only bull I say is from hf being a rush or the big change in lots of it but other than that fsn servants can still keep up with fgo ones. Shishou was only stronger than cu as she trained so many(thousands) of years compared to cu and yet still lost to cu alter(medb oc do not steal) while herc is used as a punching bag or power scale as fgo artimis could shoot his dead at her level compared. Unlimited codes does this very nicely seeing how other servants can do as the main. Some good like Rin and luvias storylines being super funny and some bad like sakura being extra bratty and is basically "notice me senpai I'm crazy" making her worse somehow. Medea is very underated as she was a great planner and ubw had at least 4 servant including her at one time and soichirou blitz saber as well. Unlimted codes she gave up her life to save soichirou showing what she would do for him. Also hyped for Camelot to see long arm Hassan be both a villain and good guy in two different movies

In my opinion the thing that gives Emiya a huge edge above everyone else is all of his experience in wars and events hes been in as a counter guardian adopting strategies and ideas from people and armies he has helped and also faced off against I know it may not be much but experience always matters

His outlook on life and personality helps a lot too. He's pessimistic and meticulate, always thinking of plans, and his outlook is that of a jaded old man (which he technically is) allows him to fight "dirty" as well. The man knows how to stab at open wounds, physically and mentally, and isn't hesitant to do so. That combat pragmatism is what makes him useful. Saber would NEVER resort to kicking a wound or stealth killing. EMIYA is one of my favorite servants for good reason. This doesn't even get into projection magic (my single favorite skill in fantasy).

Literally the most famous and badass character in a franchise dedicated to showing how famous and badass mythological/historical figures are. And he's a fucking *_OC_* !

Some extra stuff. In the VN ,Rins initial Command Seal implies that Without Rin's permission his already low ranks are reduced by 1 (Hence why he doesn't attack Cu during prologue until Rin Gives him permission), in other words he went and bodied caster and danced with Sakaki at reduced stats. HF Shirou is only absorbing a portion of his stregth and yet he pulled off Nine Lives Blade works, would have beaten Saber Alter if he wasn't already dying and projected and used Excalibur after being beaten down to hell witrh an already dying body and very little magic power. Also in Extra Nameless has csnnonically better stats so its hard to full compare the 2 but he did defeat Drake, Robin, Nursery and Vlad(Lancer)/Arcuid Berseker without using his NP and then his side story in.Extella has him beat Iskander and Artoria 1 after the other.

@@mikedanielespeja6128 Yes, as the name implies, Unlimited Blade Works literally means unlimited. Due to his time as a counter guardian (existing independent of time, able to go to any point in the future or the past) he has amassed an armory of an unlimited number of swords. This is why the transplanted arm is so dangerous for Shirou in HF, his brain literally cannot handle the amount of information archer has amassed and it gets fried.

I remember when he nuked Herc and took a life at the graveyard fight in UBW but the adaption gave the kill to Saber....

So really, what makes EMIYA so damn mighty is not his overwhelming might like many other Servants count on. For EMIYA, it's his adaptability and unwillingness to yield, two traits that make even a normal man great if utilized properly. And holy crap he's doing something right if he's able to stand on par with freaking GODS of all things.

Skill and experience.

The only weakness does EMIYA have is the lack of prana he posses and his mind unable to comprehend alien material that create certain weapons like EA and opponent who has insane combat prowess + speed + certain magic attacks like debuffs or mental mind stuff. Emiya with no mana limitation probably can destroy pretty much everyone but the higher tier servants. With his fight with Cu and Regend or other strong fighters half of that doesn't come from "Eye of the Mind". But his suicidal sword style that purposely leave eye glaring opening for his advisories to attack in which he can spot dodge or counter them this sword style was made for him to fight thing that stronger, faster, and more powerful. What make Emiya so powerful is not how strong and tanky he is or the ability to use multiple NP but his versatility against others he faces in a sense he as a counter for almost every servants as long as it not too foreign or too costly.

Actually Emiya doesn't have a suicide sword style. It's just a tactic he deployed against Lancer and depending on what servant he faces, he'll deploy different tactics to suit the situation. It's a common misconception. If you don't believe me just look up any official sources and see if it's actually mentioned anywhere.

EMIYA actually isn't lacking in mana. This is unfortunately a common misconception. He has B-rank mana, and is effectively equal to Medusa. He can't do is maximize Excalibur, but Excalibur actively makes use of Artoria's factor of the dragon as a part of its mechanics, her magical energy production, which is not the same as reserves, and she's better than 99% of the cast. EMIYA's good on quantity, its force and generation that he's lacking in.

Nasu mentioned it in his hypothetical EMIYA VS Rider, though it's also a good feat for Rider, since it means anything short of Excalibur doesn't one-shot her. He can use Excalibur, he just can't use its maximum power. Well, ok, he can if he goes full Arash. Actually, Artoria Alter's bond CE outright says that the factor of the dragon is THE reason why Excalibur is the strongest holy sword. fategrandorder.fandom.com/wiki/Memories_of_the_Dragon Arotira, Mordred, Siegfried, and Sigurd all have dragon hearts to varying degrees, and they are the ones that use the "amp users mana" weapons. The other examples would be Gilgamesh (who's top tier in magical energy production anyway lol @ his role in Extella Link), and Altera(who uses the world's mana as well as her own). The other beam swords tend to not be amplifiers, but simply produce attacks like normal NPs. Edit: On your comment about speed fighters. It's worth mentioning that Cu isn't normal. Even when hindered EMIYA comes to the conclusion that he's "Heads and shoulders above other lancers in speed" and in "there aren't 3 lancers at his level". Cu himself repeats this in Hollow Ataraxia. Cu's movement speed is a normal A-rank, but his striking speed isn't. He's even called "the fastest servant(in FSN's context)" despite Kojiro being a thing with his A+ agility, or Artoria's mana bursts. It's also worth bringing up that proto Arthur, who's as fast as Artoria with the same mana burst, has the exact same problem with Brynhildr and her A-rank agility. It's not so much "EMIYA can't handle anyone who's fast" as much as "holy shit Cu and Bryn are fast!" You're right that bowmanship is the best way for him to go though. Complete Material 3 outright says that EMIYA only engages in CQB because he likes it, and to conceal his trump card(BPs). An EMIYA in CQB is either not serious, or playing the long game of the Holy Grail War. He uses his bow when he goes for the kill.

"Each class has their own special characteristics, but the abilities of the Servants differ according to the rank of the heroic spirit summoned." "Rank of the heroic spirits… you mean how strong they were when they were alive?" "That also, but strengthens their ability is their popularity." "What they did and what weapons they had do not change, but their basic abilities change depending on how famous they are in this time. Heroic spirits are like gods, so they grow stronger the more people worship them." "I guess you can say it solidifies their presence. It's the same as divine spirits falling to the rank of spirits when they lose their faith. Heroes that are forgotten by the people do not have much power. But then, even if they are forgotten or unknown, if he was originally a powerful hero, then I think he can keep his powers to some extent." EMIYA goes under the unknown category, so not only is it indicated that he's not getting buffed by fame like many heroic spirits (like servants that weren't super humans getting good stats, or skills being stronger), it indicates that his abilities were lowered much like a divine spirit loosing faith. The fact that he's not virtually powerless, and simply has bad stats implies that he was strong when alive. So we haven't seen a full-power Cu nor a full-power EMIYA. While we can't debate using them, we can in the back of our minds that stronger versions of them do exist.

The perfect microcosm of Emiya's fighting style as a servant is his first fight with Lancer. His biggest strengths in a 1v1 fight are actually that he is a literal japanese nobody and that he isn't bound by honor or pride, as he states himself all the time. In his first fight with Lancer (UFOtable UBW), you can see that he is only using 1 sword at the start. Why is this? You may say that it is because he has no memories, but the reality is that he remembers everything, as that is the whole source of his power. He uses his autistic memory of swords to recall their composition and project them. He likely lied to Rin about not having memories so that he could get away with trying to kill Shirou. Now, back to the one sword. I think he was only projecting one sword because he knew he wouldn't be able to beat Cu straight up in a cqc engagement, he needed a trap. He was only using one sword at the start because he was trying to bait Cu in and then bring out his second sword in an opportune moment to deliver a fatal blow to him. He completely understood at the start of the fight his own and Cu's abilities and knew he had to set an under-handed trap to win. Unfortunately, he was forced to project his second sword as Cu started to get the best of him in the fight, but this is the type of fighter Emiya is. If you need to win a HGW, he is your man. Long distance assassination on the enemy masters, adept at CQC despite his low strength, vast knowledge of a near infinite number of weapons due to his time as a counter guardian, and finally a Reality Marble that would be impossible for the majority of servants to properly deal with (not dying and defending their masters at the same time). Often times, you see servants play by this predetermined notion of having respect for each other and their legends, but Emiya is just a "simple bowman". He has no legacy to protect, he has no discernible weakness even if he told you who he was, he is literally nobody. A faceless Hero of Justice perfect to use as a tool to destroy whatever is in your way in any way he can.

Partly right partly wrong. The inproper summoning did mess with his memories but that had nothing to do with his fighting skills. Nice catch on the on him only using one sword at the start of the fight. I wouldn't say it was his only chance but it's definitly an Emiya move to go for a cheap shot like that.

I believe he did have some memory loss when he was first summoned but they come back as the war goes on. That's why he's so caught off guard when he sees Saber and she cuts him down if Shirou doesn't use a command seal to stop here. If he knew Saber was going to be there he wouldn't have stood there defenceless in shock for a moment.

There's also the small note where his ability to trace weaponry for use with/in Unlimited Blade Works also supposedly comes with instantaneous proficiency and familiarity, down to pinpoint knowledge of their original intended purpose, be it practical, ceremonial, or sentimental. That, used in combination with all of the above notes, honestly makes him out to be among the SCARIEST of heroes born of man. Though, you already did a good job of driving that point home, because dear god is this man unreal.

He also claimed he could Project Excalibur and it would kill him. But he would at least take Artoria out with him along with Rin and Shirou. In Prisma Illya, we see Illya who has insane mana supply in her due to the fact she was still modified to be a grail container. Using the Archer card and projecting normal Excalibur blasting Excalibur Morgan away. Granted Illya has way more mana then Emiya has hope to obtain, but it just shows how much you could do with his mage craft if you had the mana. For those who don’t know, yes Shirou Emiya did project Excalibur. Not a rank down version, it fucking killed him afterwards unfortunately. Shirou in Myu-verse won the whole war in a single night, also stalled against EA long enough to send Myu to the Illya-verse. You could say it’s not as impressive because the class cards are weaker versions then normal servants. But it’s still an impressive feat.

Most people say that Kalied isn't cannon so nothing counts (Which is real stupid since other writers have made Fate works and people never said this, Apocrypha novels and Strage fake for instance). Either way i'd say that, when Emiya said that It was mostly taking the circumstances into account- he'd just used quite a bit of mana so using excalibur would probably costtoo much to stick around- After all HF Shirou does it with much less mana availible and with a destroyed mind. after all as you mentioned Illya does it with very little problem, kuro does it as a broken phantasm and Nameless can do it all night long if UBW is up. Both Saber Alter and Illya Emiya were ranked down due to being cards. As for HF Shirou's excalibur projection, It was Ranked down but it still did enough to destroy the grail, the only thing he can project without rank downs is avalon and only one time. As For Miyuverse Shirou, Miyu was feeding him Infinite mana as a grail until either the angelica fight or the moment she dimention warped.

Angra Emiya no, Kaleid is 100% cannon because it’s been apart of FGo. It’s all part of the muilti verse. Anything that has the Type-Moon name slapped on is cannon. Yes that includes the possibility that all 3 routes of Fate is cannon. Fate/prototype is cannon as well.

jjo jon I don’t know where you got the numbers from(if you could gimme a source I would love it!), but I do agree he had an amazing advantage. With Myu boosting his mana and the Archer card being literally his own mage craft he had been working on his whole life.

EMIYA's true power: Being the Protagonist and Antagonist at the same time

there's a lot more behind archer/EMIYA than a lot of people want to dig through. and a ton if it is just S+ tier plot-ception that makes him basically uncontestably the #1 servant in Fate continuity. first off... Emiya is only a man. but with that being said, there is a massive problem. Emiya IS a heroic spirit. he is ALSO a counter guardian. existing in both facets is a problem because much like Saber he exists on the outside of the source from which heroes are summoned. in Emiya's case however, his status as a counter guardian creates a plot loop that is honestly just painfully ridiculous. as a counter guardian he exists outside the realm of time. and he will be summoned by the counter force to ANY world, at ANY time it is deemed necessary BY the counter force. because he exists outside the realm of time, this actually causes a LOT of problems. first and foremost, the most pressing problem is that if he is "outside" time itself, then his existence in that area is no different from Schrodinger's cat. basically... if he is removed from time itself, then as a result the experiences he acquires through the endless summoning of the Counter Force... are basically happening not only endlessly... but are being collected within a spirit existing in a state where the passage of time would appear to be both endless... and more unfortunately also instant. it's more apt to question how the hell he isn't a vegetable from being bombarded with the sheer cognitive overload then it is to pick at this argument however, because it is simply expanding upon points already presented as fact. but the point is there are problems with this concept of existing "outside the realm of time" as a counter guardian. mainly, because of the way this kind of temporal gimmick works, the second he "leaves" the realm of time and exists outside of it... everything sorta breaks to pieces. because he's existing BEYOND time, every single time the counter force has ever summoned him and WILL ever summon him happens instantaneously. honestly... the only thing we can really do about this one is say "yeah, but he's a heroic spirit so his brain isn't paste". that's because the story gives us an Archer/emiya who CAN walk talk and eat without a straw. so we have to continue from there with "if he actually HAS the ability to recall those experiences (which is explicitly stated by the man himself that he does in fact remember them), then what does that mean?" the answer lies within Unlimited Blade Works. a reality marble that inverts his own inner world, where he stores the recorded information of every weapon he has ever seen. for Archer/Emiya, that means every blade that has ever existed, and every blade that ever WILL exist (with the exception of things he can't comprehend like Ea). it is displayed deliberately that within those rules, any blade that exists within the continuity exists within UBW. but Archer would have needed to have seen those weapons... and that brings us to our key point here. archer has fought both alongside as well as against every other hero within fate continuity. because he exists in the manner he does, he has done this innumerable times. and the meaning behind the presence of the blades in UBW for Archer/Emiya was always tribute to the fallen. he has helped their owners live, watched them die and even been forced to kill them himself. THIS is what Archer/Emiya truly is. one man, with access to an arsenal that STARTS with every blade gilgamesh has in GoB. when you combine the sheer size of his arsenal, with the volume of combat experience he has as well as the fact that he already knows exactly which weapons to use on which heroes (because he has done it countless times before)... you sorta realize that Archer/EMIYA is sorta a story writers nightmare. i don't think he was ever supposed to be focused on to any serious degree. the point is to make a parallel to base emiya and create fun little paradoxes between them. the problem is that when UBW clearly defines Archer/EMIYA for us, it basically blows away the pretext of "detailed world building" NOTHING i have said here is an assumption or an interpretation. it is just a basic logical breakdown that does it's best to AVOID straying from anything that requires interpretation, assumption or omission. because his character is defined the way it is in UBW route, there's really no room to argue unfortunately. there are TWO Archer/emiya. there's the one we need to ensure we can get a story rather than 666 fireballs from the heavens dropping stars into hell. and then there's the one we DESERVE, who would follow his lore and basically one shot anything because "oh hey, looks like it's fuyuki.... again-.-"

Understand that counter guardian Emiya is essentially Emiya with a near unlimited mana source. Considering that Emiyas abilities with limited mana are scary when supplied with a higher mana source he is terrifying in a fight.

@@chachachannel3996 There is no NP which he can trace that will help him in close combat against Musashi. She is next to Inshun the deadliest servant in close combat, except when you're, for example, somebody like Herc (his lives) or Karna (his armor) and Achilles (divinity protection). Remember she basically solo'd the entirety of Shimousa on her own with a little help here and there, now she cut chaos in Atlantis to zero. If that isn't too much for EMIYA, y'all are overwanking the stud too much. As I've said, stay on distance and spam. Or else dead.

You forgot to mention that during the Medea fight he _purposely_ missed his shot. Even after that missed shot, he could've followed up. He won against Medea, but he let her go because his primary goal was Shirou.

Emiya is easily in my top 5 favorite servants as far as backstory and ability: Story wise he is a broken soldier who clung to an unrealistic ideal for far too long. He only finds peace after either dying, hoping his past self makes a change, or coming to Chaldea in what I call the FGO route (where he can actually SAVE people, become a head chef, and maybe have a little something-something going on with Boudica; playful little thought). Ability wise: he can run hands with the best of them and come out on top (Gil, Hassan, Artoria, Heracles, Gawain and a few others). I know there are PLENTY of servants who give him the work (Lartoria, King Hassan, Raikou, Kiara, and plenty others) but when the chips are down, EMIYA is as reliable as it gets.

Fun fact him was my first 4 star pick I love my boy emiya❤❤❤❤.

Everyone should have known EMIYA was powerful when he killed Herc six times, in close quarters. EMIYA is extremely powerful, just not in the conventional ways. Plus EMIYA’s physical strength can be boosted by the weapon he projects.

Fact is, Fate as a series is one of the most un-"versus"-able series in anime. There are way too many variables, and servants like Archer are game changers. Fate doesn't have many, if any, non-game changers. Noble Phantasms and Servant skills, conceptual ones especially, make damn sure of that.

Let it be known that in Fate/Kaleid, Miyuverse EMIYA soloed the entire Grail War with very little effort and is able to casually use Nine Lives Blade Works like it’s nothing. He also projected a sword big enough to walk on during his second fight with Julian and Angelica, and while he did need Chloe’s help to land the finishing blow on Angelica, I think that’s a pretty big deal.

When I started playing FGO, I thought I would never get EMIYA because my luck was, and to an extent still is, trash. 2 years later, I'm trying to get mats to 10/10/10 my NP 5 EMIYA to help him and his Dad save his mom during the Zero Rerun this year. Gameplay wise he is a fucking monster. I didn't even grail mine and he's doing damage that a phase 1 Archer that isn't Gilgamesh shouldn't be allowed to do. With him at NP 5, it's like having mini nuke for sabers that get too upitty.

You got to remember the dev's nuked the shit out of him originally in the game cause hes OP. Imagine if he could do buster brave chain. Hopefully the dev's get muramasa right whenever he comes out

@@valdr2286 because I have so many archers aside from him that I'm servely lacking lancers, my only gold lancer was Santa Alter Lily, I used the ticket to get Lancer Arthurian Alter.

Archer being able to fight above his weight class is further shown by how Rin described him in the anime, “an ordinary man who strives to become extraordinary” and we see the fruits of his hard work to be able to contest against those from the age of gods despite being a modern human being.

Me and my Level 100 Max 2k Fou'd 10/10/10 Bond 10 NP4 Emiya and our vids feel vindicated with this :D

I'd say he is an A class servant. Mostly because a lot of his strength is due to the broken nature of his Noble Phantasm. If he had been summoned as a Counter Guardian rather than a servant... Doubt anyone could defeat him. Problem is he's handy capped by mana in most scenarios since he either suffers injury before recalling his true nature like in Stay Night, or breaks his contract.

I've always said he's an A or B rank that specializes in giving S tiers more trouble than he should. he just has so many tools at his disposal that allow him to contend with people much stronger than him even if he can't technically win against most of them.

Honestly come back every couple of months to rewatch your entire catalog of vids. They’re really just supreme, keep it up man

seeing that he's resourceful enough to keep up with and even kill higher ranked servants, in my eyes i think emiya only has 2 major weaknesses... 1. being outnumbered and 2. being outsmarted.

Honestly, EMIYA and Saber Artoria Pendragon are the main reasons I fell in love with fate. That's why I've grailed them both in FGO to 100 all the way through with EMIYA NP5 2K Attack and HP. He's my number 1 Husbando xD he's worth it. I believe he could go toe to toe with most Divine servants if he were given more or infinite mana supply.

Emiya is like Iron Man of the series Always adapting and coping fast to the situation at hand

Emiya isn’t the strongest, the fastest, the tankiest, or the most powerful magic wise. But what he is, is versatile. More so than almost any other Heroic Spirit. And he knows this. So to survive in a war where demigods are the norm, he needs to abuse his strengths, and take advantage of any weaknesses his enemies have. Whether psychological, physical, or spiritual. And it shows in almost every war. He is never the first servant to be killed, and when he is, he makes his enemies bleed for the win. I’m actually interested to see how Emiya would do if he had a top tier master to supply him mana. Would be amazing to watch, but a bitch to try and clean up all of the craters.

Emiya has been one of my all time fav servants, at first it was bcuz of his unique design and powers, but I liked him more and more as I learned more about him Ppl often forget about him bcuz most of the other servants are divine warriors with skills on par with nukes

Fate always had a Pokemon-esque thing with it's power system due to various abilities and Noble phantasms. Granted, EMIYA does not have the best parameters but few servants can match the versatility of his kit with stuff like Projection. Imagine him fighting a seemingly superior opponent like Siegfried. Sumanai's high parameters, swordsmanship and protection due to Armor of Fafnir may make him look invincible. But EMIYA would identify him as soon as he traces Balmung. This means that he now knows exactly where Siegfried's weak point is and can put him out of commission using a projected weapon there. Or he could create dragonslayer weapons to effectively penetrate Armor of Fafnir like copies of Balmung. Along with that, his archery+Projection can also put pressure on Siegfried. And without plot armor assistance, Cardboard-kun would die quickly from a arrow to the back since he does not have Siegfried's experience and skills. Even Fafnir might get skewered by Numerous dragon slayer weapons.

@@alispeed5095 the comparison is there because Siegfried is a straightforward servant and someone who people think to be invincible like Herc thanks to Sieg in Apocrypha when he actually isn't. And it's not like EMIYA would win easily unless really lucky or fighting transformed Sieg (who lacks Sumanai's skill and experience) Siegfried will no doubt give him a hard time due to his skill but EMIYA can manage to survive as he did with taking lives of Herc in Fate route. Also Sumanai does not have much tactical advantages at range like EMIYA other than Balmung beam. And Sieg defending against Brahmastra Kundala is Balmung boosted by Galvanism to constantly supply him mana to spam it so Siegfried does not have the advantage of NP spam like Sieg. Now there is a difference between tracing and actually projecting. Tracing would identify Balmung and with it Siegfried's identity, giving away his weak spot. Projecting Dragonslayer weapons would only be for penetrating Armor of Fafnir as Broken Phantasms fired from UBW. The scenario of EMIYA fighting Siegfried is kind like this: EMIYA identifies Sumanai thanks to Balmung but does not reveal it to him. They engage in close quarters combat with Siegfried destroying multiple copies of Kanshou and Bakuya like in the fight with Lancer. Archer will be slowly losing the upper hand so he will now use UBW. Then barrage of broken phantasms will be thrown at Siegfried, who will resort to countering using Balmung to clear a path. But as he is distracted by the projections, EMIYA would find an opportunity to attack his back which will kill him instantly if it hits. That's the kind of thing Archer can pull off. No garuntees it will work every single time but Siegfried is manageable enough for him with the tools at his disposal.

@@alispeed5095 and I forgot Dragonslayer weapon damage modified only works against those with Dragon traits or Dragons. Archer ain't one. Also in his fight with Saber, it didn't last long like that with Cu or Herc nor he had the chance to fully utilize UBW against her due to the story with Shirou.

@@alispeed5095 yes Cu was holding back the first time but the 2nd time was a different case. Even Then, EMIYA managed to hold out on his own against an opponent with Superior skill. And what about fighting Herc who had great skills on top of really high parameters? He took down a few of his lives. And Siegfried may have the skill(Apocrypha LN gives more insight on this) and armor advantage over Arturia but he is outclassed in terms of personal skills, parameters and noble phantasms. The King of Knights has Mana Burst which can allow her to cross gaps quickly using her mana in a manner similar to jet propulsion along with boosting the strength of her attacks. Instinct/intuition is a good skill for a swordsman as it can help making split second decisions in the heat of battle easier. Balmung is pretty strong but Excalibur is stronger when it is unrestrained. And if she has access to Avalon then that gives her an unfair advantage. Let's not forget the useful magic resistance which Siegfried loses for Armor of Fafnir. 2/10 feels like believable odds but considering the type of person Archer is, that's something he can still work with even after knowing.

The Extraverse version is a different entity though. While Emiya is a Counter Guardian, Nameless is a conceptual heroic spirit embodying the concept of the nameless, faceless hero. A vigilant that steps into action when the need arises. He does seem to have Emiya Shirou's memories, referencing FSN numerous times, and having interactions with FSN characters including Artoria, but he has his own set of attributes and limitations. An interesting thing about Nameless is that he literally has no name. Emiya even though having no legend, and being a mere cog in the Counter Guardian system still has a name. Nameless however by having no name actually glitches out the Quantum Timelock system, gettin transferred to other timelines every time the timeline he is in gets pruned as shown in his side story in Extella.

Pretty sure Emiya in most other lore is referred as a nameless Heroic Spirit to it just more convenient to call him Emiya In fgo because we all know it that my thought. (Also Emiya in fgo has memory of the extra version or some reason.)

I'll say Emiya's call to fame is his determination and will to get the job done. That's what makes him special. While other servant's may be distracted by bloodlust, principles, rivalries or delusions, Emiya is a servant that when summoned does everything in his power to do the job. And he's relatively cheap for the counter force to summon too!

Vary knowledgeable video. I've read the VN 4 times and this even pointed out some stuff I forgot.

This may be just me. But when I analyze him i came to the conclusion that we have actually never seen his full power realized. Archer we see is actually very handicapped and he still kicks ass.

still emya is the most interesting,badass,coller,in all fate franchise

Emiya's most important advantage is having a lot of trump cards. If another Servant has a weakness, he likely has the tool to exploit it via UBW, and the tactic to deploy it with Mind Eyes. His threat level also scale up if he work with a party as he can basically equip them with NP-grade weapons that fit the enemy they are fighting. Even during direct confrontation, which is technically the best way to take him down, he can copy the stat of the previous user when he project his NP, with reduction of course, but a reduced Heracle or reduced Artoria would be enough to drag thing out. He's a B rank who will always be useful even in a party full of A rank. Plus he can cook.
