    Thank you for all the information you gave us in this video. I visited Turkey last September and l fell in love with that country, their culture, their food, the hospitality, the sceneries,, the history, l can see your point on what you are saying, we go as visitors, to have a great time and enjoy ourselves but it's totally different than when you stay and live there, like you say, it's in any country, it's an adjustment. I was able to see some of the things you mentioned. Not easy for the locals. I do have a big respect and admiration for the country and their people and l wish things get better economically. I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you.

    One of your best videos. We have a holiday home in Turkey for last 15 years. For us the cost of living is good because we have sufficient UK salaries and pension but my heart break for Turks as there is no doubt prices have risen incredibly. We visit 3-4 per year so not really not the same as moving permanently. We love Türkiye, the people, culture, food and even the language although still a beginner at that. Hope that you still think that you made the right decision to move from your homeland. Love your videos about travel as we also love to travel to a new place every time we go to our apartment in Didim❤.

    Thanks for emphasizing that people that come from other countries are GUEST, and should act as such--be diplomatic, humble, and polite. I just had an interaction with a guy from Ireland whom while in the Southern States of US started dissing our symbols and culture and just thought it was fine. I corrected him as best I could. (as you say all countries have perceived negatives--including his own). I really hope to make it to Turkey some day, it sounds like my kind of place.

I know you have posted videos on where to stay, but do you think you could post a new video with some hotel/airbnb recommendations (different neighborhoods) in terms of facilities (elevator), easy access to transportation etc. and also compare the pros and cons of staying in each place (flat opposed to steep walks, for e.g). Hi!! I suggest exchanging your currency in Istanbul and use only our local currency, Turkish Lira. You can also pay almost in every establishment with your cards and your bank will exchange the currency accordingly, or you can also withdraw Turkish Liras from an ATM. If you want to exchange cash you have with you, is better inside the Grand Bazaar.

    Finally you are realizing the facts about the economy :) i think less than a year, i'll see a video from you about 'why i'm moving back to Mexico' lol. I also see many tiktok videos from americans in Istanbul and i don't think they are lying because they have usd and working remotely. If we 'turkish citizens' can earn Usd or Euro salary then i'm sure %90 of the people who wants to move and live in abroad will change their minds and stay in Turkey. For Americans everything in Turkey is cheap. For example they pay $300-500 usd rent for a luxury apt in Turkey which the same apartment in Usa costs $2000-3000 or more. Food is also same topic if you wanna eat kebap in Turkey costs around $10 usd and very delicious but you can eat kebap in Usa costs $15-20 maybe more and less tasty. So what i mean is these people are really lucky and smart who earns usd or euro and living in Istanbul :)

    The fact that I haven’t shared a video before about this topic is because I have tried to keep the channel exclusively about traveling but since many people keep asking me on my social media about this specific topic I instead made a video answering the most common questions I get asked the most. Is not that I’m “blind” or I’m barely “realizing” the situation, I’ve been living here for almost 8 yrs and during this time ofc I’m aware of the situation and the changes the country is going through day by day. And no, not going back to Mexico since my life is here, I’m married to a Turk and we have many future plans in this country. And yeah, I know exactly what you mean about Americans saying everything is cheap here, as I said, that’s only for them, not for the majority of people living here especially Turkish or those foreigners earning in TL, the way they want to romanticize the inflation in 🇹🇷 and devaluation of TL is extremely tone deaf, that’s what I tried to mean with that comment, is not a lie that indeed is cheap, FOR THEM, not for 99% of people living here, maalesef.

  • @BeryIstanbulTips

    @BeryIstanbulTips

    Жыл бұрын

    Also I want to add that thanks to those TikToks many people really believe life here is extremely cheap for everybody, some decide to come and give it a try but once they realize the real situation the end up going back to their home countries, so at some point those TikToks are also misleading others, what I say is, yes, share that life is cheap for you because you have usd/euros, work remotely, and the devaluation of TL against USD and Euro is giving you advantage.
