I was so intrigued by the interface of Apple Carplay. It makes driving a lot more cooler, maybe organized, and more modern! I'll be sure to have all, if not most, all my future cars featured with it! Great video! And I can expect for even newer features in the future!

Hi! I just purchased the 2024 CR-V and thank you for showing how to change the icons on the screen. I do have a question, what if the apps that you want to add onto CarPlay, but it’s not part of the setting. How can you add new Icons?

I have been using Apple Car play since mid March 2022. I gotten a 2020 Ford Escape SE. It was so easy in figuring it out. I wish still have the old pink and red screen.

Is it somehow possible not to have blocked by Carplay the built in bluetooth car telephone? I mean I really like to use carplay, but for phone calls it would be sometimes easier to use the car phone.

In your phone’s settings, you could hunt around in there, or maybe turn off data access to the Maps app. Or just avoid dashboard mode.

Wireless CarPlay has different shaped buttons

I need help! When I make a call while connected by bluetooth or by wire, the volume of the phone call is so low I can barely hear it. Music plays great, phone calls and maps are like a whisper. I turn the volume up to max and it is still barely a whisper. Same for siri.

I have the same problem. The AutoPlay voice was too low, overwhelmed by the radio music. I’ve spent several days trying to find the volume control. Has anybody found the volume control?

Hi, I have a 2021 Ford escape with SYNC3, this is the 1st vehicle I can use car play with. Here's my question: I use navigation with Waze usually while listening to Sirius XM, I cannot figure out how to change the channel I am listening to while CarPlay is in use, it seems like I have to disconnect CarPlay to be able to get to the radio's channels. How can I do this without shutting off CarPlay? SIRI is unable to do it. Thank you

The apps are not stored on the head unit they are stored in your phone the head unit is merely a mirror of what is on your phone you can determine what apps you want to show up through your Apple CarPlay settings on your phone.

I’m wondering if you know how to shut off MAPS from cutting off music to announce very quietly (any way to control the volume on this as well?) that there is a traffic cam ahead. I still want voice directions when I’m using maps for routing. But this is happening on the map displayed in the split screen on CarPlay.

While Maps is making an announcement, turn the volume with your radio knob to the desired level. New announcements will be at that level. I found this by mistake because I turned down the sound once and didn't realize it kept that setting. It took me along time to figure out how to get it back. He covers this around 12:30...

its just the youtube music app and if he has it already on his iphone it will probably add that to carplay

Can Antone tell me how to arrange the 3 small icons to the left of the Home Screen with all the apps. I have selected different apps but can't figure out how to set the 3 I would like to use most. The bottom icon seems to be the only one that will change. I have arranged the larger icons with my phone's customize feature under settings, but can't customize the top 2 smaller icons on the left side. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I’m aware, those 3 consist of most recently used/currently in use audio app, navigation app, and communication app. That’s why the messages icon there changes to phone when you recently made a call. I don’t think you can set them. Unless I’m wrong and you can, in which case someone enlighten me.

In my car apple maps is there when car play starts. I can set the route in the iPhone app before I get in the car and when I start the car the route automatically starts.

Some systems lacking in power will do that to avoid distortion. I’m not sure if that’s specifically the case for you, is your system aftermarket? Or factory?

Apple limits what you can do with CarPlay, mostly to navigation, and audio based stuff. They don’t want anyone staring at their screen while driving, obviously. So they limit what you can do visually.

I got mine for under $100, works great most of the time, although wired is a tad more reliable.

You can now report cops on Apple Maps too, by reporting a “Speed Check”

@@pewbangpew8109 well for the same reason Waze has cop reporting, by the time you get there it’s possible the cop moved. Also, some people report cops that are moving, for some reason. Why, who knows.

So to make sure I understand, if I am listening to the radio, then say ‘Siri, call Joe’, it’s the proper behavior to not have the radio resume? I swear something changed and that used to work fine. Let me instead ask, how can I use Siri to call from my phone contacts, without interrupting the radio when the call is complete?

In my maps setting, “store parked location” doesn’t exist
