It's a complicated situation because one thing people often use to be complacent in their highly improvable situations are imagined rigid structural injustices. Something like: "19th and early 20th century capitalists screwed everything up, and that's why my life is like this." Take ownership, even if you know it's not your fault. The chips fall where they may, but you only have power over where you place emphasis. Use that power.

Great video. I was a teacher and I was considered a nuisance because I refused to treat children like souless robots. I had to constantly reiterate that I am not going to tell a kid to do something "because I said so". I took the time to explain the WHY and reasoning behind it. They fired me based on "a difference in philosophy". Ironically they fired me the same day I planned to resign. Either way good riddance to those idiots.

Louis it's Oct 12, 2020, in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic and I had a really shitty day and stumbled across your video. One of those days where I'm just kicking the shit out of myself and focusing on all the negatives in life, without much hope and it's like a black cloud has been over my mind and life all day today. And then I watched this video you made over 6 years ago. I'm floored. It's exactly what I needed to hear. I can't thank you enough. Not only for what you do to help people and champion the "right to repair" movement but also for being so open and honest about your own life, the struggles you and your dad went through and how you guys just kept on trying to make meaningful changes in your life. It's really hard to overstate how appropriate this was for me to hear today and how much it's helped me. Thank you seems like such and insignificant thing but I say it from the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU! I pray that you and your father continue to find success in all aspects of your lives. Thank you again for all you do!!!

I am a step father to a 16 year old. Whenever his mother gets concerned about his future, I continuously reinforce to both of them the successful qualities he already has. He is a problem solver, he has a motor, he has a passion that fuels his desire to learn, and he retains knowledge very well. I do whatever I can to feed his positive passion for technology. I enjoy watching him take on a challenge, research it, use trial and error, get frustrated, look at it from other angles, and finally solve it. You spoke about momentum in another video as it relates to customer loyalty. I am so proud of how my step son continues to add to his abilities when it comes to his passion.

I was going to make the same comment, only difference is I'm 56. I should get better at looking at life ,weighing the difference between 'safe and less happy and stressed out', and 'less safe and much more happy, and stressed out'. For me the stress is pretty much always there ( working on it ), but in the latter case it's much more healthy, and actually may have a good purpose.

That's the idea... But actually, it's set up to mass-produce factory workers, able to sit still for long hours, ask few questions, obey and learn to memorize what they're being taught. Very few teachers see it as more than just a job, and they aren't paid enough nor get enough recognition. A change is sorely needed.

What you have, both the passion and the mindset, are very rare, but they can also be lost, squashed by years in compulsory education and bad jobs. Guard them carefully as you grow up, remember what you're working for, remember your principles. Best of luck ;)

The mass shootings are often the result of a life time of abuse, when you are abused you have two options which really only becomes one eventually. You see "back in the day" a beating wasn't every day, it wasn't every time someone didn't do something "because" it was a pick and choose "because" and often resulted in the kid fighting back and being thrown in some corrections incarceration facility and the family disowning a relative to the point where they go homeless or put in a nut house for fighting back "because". So the kids now a days only have a handful of options, which often most of them get ignored, and verbaly abused and information by teachers, by principles mishandled intentionally. IE I have had several medical surgeries that litterally no one but my parents would know about which they told teachers, which told students. Those surgeries didn't prevented me doing anything, other than significantly lowering chances of reproduction which I don't seem to have that issue as I have a son. So their options boil down to, get even, get pure revenge and then some, ignore it and it happens again and again and again, confront it and hope it goes away, sarcastically throw it back, laugh at ones self seriouslly harming ones self mentally, harm one self physically, harm everyone that hasn't helped you that you have gone to for help and they litterally do not care and just let it keep happening. You know more parents abuse their children now then back then, I see no supportive parents any more because they grew up with this abuse and now are the abusers themselves, and this goes farther then physically , and mentally, but sexually as well. Cops don't care unless they see some profit out of it, teachers don't care in general their just enjoying their free ride, principles don't care because their too busy bullying kids around even the ones that are A students honor role and only praising them for PR to attempt to get more special ed students to increase their schools budget to get raises and bonuses along with purchase "equipment" for the school as they haul it away a week later in their vans. So this resaults in more time then not mass shootings, we are taught not to trust these people because they all abuse, they are the bullies of children thus the bullies of the future and thus the bullies of society as a whole and they are not changing they're making more excuses for themselves then ever. So the two options become 1.learn to live with the abuse and be submissive to it destroying yourself inside, living in fear of everyone becoming the abuser you hated one day, and 2. acting out on it harming everyone which either translates into killing oneself or killing everyone who didn't help you as they are just as guilty as the abusers.

Talking about the relationship about education with your dad i think it goes on the right spot about what education should be... i remember one christmas (when i was a child arround 6-8 years old) i was doing very bad at school and my dad was very very angry about it, so he was planing to sit with me and helping me to do my homework but it wasn’t that way.... when i was just writting a wrong word in my exercise book he slap me in my neck and the reaction about that was just a lot fear and sadness... was a very bad and hard experience for me and i still remember the wrong words that i used to write, and the sadness that i was having from the begining of the day to the end, and i think it just was a failure in my life and the way he treated me in that time, later on when i was a teen i was smoking weed, and i face my dad telling him why he do that to me in the past, and he was telling me because he was treated in that way when he was a child, i honestly think that is not a good excuse about why he do that to me, you should know that education changes and when you are educating your son/daughter you should have always a good relation ship with them. Thank You Louis.

Louis Rossmann, I recognise a lot of this. Your dad left at the time he did not because of his age but because of yours. Had he left when you were younger he would not have been able to take you with him. Everything he put up with he put up with to keep you in his life. I am glad he is now enjoying his life and you are still part of it and I am glad that you are being successful and have came out of a childhood that was marinated in conflict with resilience and the belief you can achieve the unachievable because you watched your dad do it every day. I came to your Chanel because I have a messed up MacBook, but I am getting so much more from it than board repair. Thank you !

If you get "stuck" in an employee's mindset, that is definitely bad. However, as someone who really burned herself out in executive management... sometimes, it's nice to "just be an employee" and accept "that's just the way it's done here". At one point in my life, I CHOSE that role for a period of time. Sometimes you need a break and give up responsibility to someone else. If it's what someone needs for a time, I don't think it should be looked down on. But I would definitely agree with you that it's bad if people never move past it or continue using that crutch even after their leg has healed.

I really believe it's so important to understand the value in being wrong sometimes and the opportunity to learn something new. You have such a positive way about you that is so genuine. It's not handling people with kid gloves, it isn't always being nice and sometimes it's just coarse. But from what I can tell for the most part it's all truth. Tony Robbins don't have shit on you, keep it coming!
