Thank you for this video! The fakes are getting better. I just got scammed online. The back is flat, the spring is correct inside, the lettering was correct, no film on the crystal. However the guts were wrong and so was the clasp. I appreciate people like you educating the masses!

Also be aware of the dots between 8 and 9 H. The real one should have 3 dots between every hour while the fake ones have only 2 dots between 8 and 9 hour.

Dude, thank you so much! This is an extremely helpful video. Buying a used g-shock and wanted to tell how to spot a fake. This is the best "spot a fake" video I've found for these by far.

Bought a fake one for around 20usd more or less and compared it to my buddy who had an original one 280usd. We were both laughing because of the price difference but still functioning the same. I still wear my fake one to this day (3yrs later) and the ones from my buddy were gone already (stolen, lol)

Proud owner of the same model for about 5 years now. I am 27 now, people do ask often why am I wearing a kids watch 😂

Also on the real dial on the outside about the 8:00 position you see 3 dots. On the fake there are only 2 and you can't access the secret menu on a fake to test the screen.

Thanks for this. Got one from a local well renowned high street returns auction house in the UK. Didn't feel right so popped the back off and its a fake. They have a load more ending soon so they will be getting a call on Monday. Thanks again for taking the time to upload the guide.

My first G-Shock (1596 DW-003) had a protective plastic film on the glass. I bought it in a German watch shop in 1997. But you're right, not a single original comes with a protective film these days.

I used to buy fake one before because it is cheaper. But after checking review, i decided to buy original one with the same model. Looks different, feels different, comfortable to wear. Totally worth it. Love it a 1000 times.

yes fake just looks good but within months it will start to break daily bumps fall etc. first the strap and then the glass.... not like the original 7 years still looks the same

original is always better. these fake are most often how they practice making watches. you see, young and new watch maker need something to practice on so they copy someone else work. it's like practicing calligraphy. you learn by copying someone how to write well. who ever do these high class imitation pretty sure will land a good job somewhere else.

mine the rasta model is fake but i knew because was purchased by a street vendor - 20 bucks but what i did not know is that the plastic film was there to be removed after purchase. both look pretty for a plastic watch.

Last year I bought a Citizen Blue Angels watch on Wish for $35.00... this is a $550 retail watch... looks great, it still keeps good time and I rotate it regularly with my "real' watches...took a pic of the dial with my phone and dammit, this watch says Blue Angles on the dial! After peeling the plastic on the dial and looking at the slight bubble back, I just sent my seller a message on Ebay about a G-shlock I got last week... thanx!

My first G-Shock, was actually a fake 😢 110. Aah, I was an idiot at 9 years of age. I know it was fake because of three things. The speed gauge never worked, and it looked like it was stuck on the watch like a sticker on a book. The lettering “G-Shock” wore out after one day. The watch stopped working after I barely put it under 10cm of water. I did it twice, over the course of 4 years. The first water damage killed some of the display, the second dipping killed the watch. I bought a new G-Shock after 4 gruesome years, because I didn’t want to get scammed again. Thankfully I bought an original GA-700, still works today. I also have a DW-5600 and hopefully will buy a G-9000 Mudmaster in the future.

I got a fake GA-110 on eBay recently. It had the plastic covers on the crystal and backplate. That gave it away because I know that G-shocks don't come with covers on them. Also the backplate was bubbled out. I sent the pictures of these to eBay and they sent my money back and I got to keep the game watch also.😮

Also if they can fake them so well for £40 including postage and still make it worth the effort of making the tin and instruction and packaging then the mark up on the real thing must be criminal.

Easiest way to know if your's is original Look in the middle of 9 and 8 o' clock there should be *3* dots its the *ORIGINAL* ,mine is original... if there are only *2* dots it is *FAKE*

Did you still want this model? Try to search GA 110 HC (hypercolor). Hypercolor series released in 2011. the model in this video was doraemon color theme

Most of it are doing the same, to tell time. But in some specific features, it is different. There are some authentic Casio Edifice with Neon Illuminator, it got neon glow when the light is on. It is very beautiful to see, especially if you like this kind of glow effect. While fake one, only single light source, or there are no Neon Glow at all. Both watches are do the same thing, but the intended features are different. This is the reason why I hate the fake one and prefer with the authentic. Neon Illuminator may be not important, but for some people (like me), it is important, it's a good and interesting design. And people also buy design. If you only need a watch to do the basic function, then it doesn't mater if it fake or not. But if you need more than just a telling time device, like: Quality workmanship, quality material, additional features, and also the good feeling of wearing authentic product, go with the real one.

It’s not built like real g shock. Probably no waterproof or shock proof, not to mention the insides are probably cheaper and less quality on the fake

Right away I knew the one on the right is a fake judging by the placement of '1000' label and amout of dots between 8 and 9.

I would love to own a real gshock, but the thing is that theyre way out of my budget, I got some fakes, they look nice, and the time on em works, so it's fine for now. But good to know how to spot the difference. Also the fakes I own dosn't cost more than 15-25 USD i think it is (i pay in CLP 15-25k clp) and they serve for my use. real gshocks is over 100 usd as I've noticed, even tho the real ones are amazing.

You can see right away the bezel colours are different. On the fake the white is not white.

I just received my first G Shock off of Mercari, it is a fake, thanks for letting me see it while I can still return it. It is a Hypercolor. Seemed too cheap to be true. BTW, i noticed another tell on the face, which could be seen over the internet. Between the hands and the actual face, there are three pieces or struts that on this one are red surrounding a white highlight, on one of these three bars/ struts it says "CASIO WR120BAR". Where these three pieces/ struts go under the blue highlight that goes around the face (but the blue is only between the raised portion that indicates the five minute intervals or Noon, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 1, the blue portion on the fake continues the same line under the three pieces/ struts as everywhere else. On the authentic one, the blue portion has a sort of recess only under the three pieces/ struts. So if the fake is like this one, but maybe different colors, you can look at where the three pieces/ struts approach the highlight, if there is one, to see if it is NOT recessed, making it a fake. This probably won't give away every fake, since different G shocks may not have that same highlight, or the fake may be made differently by a different factory.

Spotted the fake immediately. There's no finishing and the white is tinted yellow. Horrifying.

Things are changing all the time with fake watches... This clip might not be relevant tommorrow.

True, but opening the back you can always tell. A fake is not going to spend the money or time to fabricate all those intricate metal pieces. That's where the cost for a real G-shock comes from(although part of it is from the name also). But you can always tell a quality module from a fake by opening it up. The fakes want to spend as little as possible and hope to get 75%+ of the people to not realize until it is too late to return.

Of course you can't because there's nothing to like about these watches. Watch am I missing. Out of 10 functionality score about 2 looks about the same, they look like a child's watch, and no use as a diver or sport watch because its to hard to read. So it must be just a collection thing like swatch is for some women. Maybe early ones were better or ahead of the game but now they're just hideous and useless. And as for fake or real. Mine has all the real one has but I know it has to be fake.
