Don't buy my favorite gun!

Спорт

It's no secret that I love my Empire Syx. But, should you buy one? NOTE: the Syx in the video is a fully upgraded Syx 1.5 with the supposedly brighter display board flash, etc. I had a couple friends ask me about that as it related to my comments about the dim OLED. When I first got it back I think I fooled myself into thinking it was brighter. It was dim, it's still dim. It's a step backwards from the Redline board which is pretty inexcusable. They made the Redline board for many (many) years, and the OLED on that is fantastic. Why the backslide? The Syx is still my favorite 'Axe' but that one part is pretty lame.

    What do you think about the PE, Etek 3 Lt or Am? I have a friend has one mint for 10 years. Went to testing shoot it and all was good. Then, his l p r piston leaked out. 10 dollar part, but he is having trouble getting it. Do you have any recommendations for replacing the part? The rubber tip on the LPR piston wore out. It still shoots but it leaks. He has been trying to find a site to get one. Also, he's been looking to upgrade, still do research. We love your videos and Respect your opinion. We have been playing since 2000. I've had an pe mini, ego 07, autococker, raptor, spyder, stingray as a kid and even a pump. Loved paintball as a kid and still do today. Most underrated sport in the world, in my opinion. Loved to hear your thoughts brother. Much love, keep the reviews and videos coming. Helps us that love paintball out a lot. We appreciate it bro.

    I bought an axe 2.0 with the redline board..i use it as a loaner gun for my friends so they dont have to play with a rental and they wont be out gunned on the field. .. I got it at a great price and it shoots pretty decent for a gun under 300 used.

    what are your thoughts on the Empire Syx 1.5 with a different bolt system

  • @airtimepaintball463

    Hi there! The Syx doesn't have a different bolt system, but it is significantly updated for sure. The change to a simple o-ring as a poppet seal is a great update for both reliability and serviceability. The Syx also has lower operating pressure, and while that is a nice thing to achieve, I don't see any significant performance impact as a result. The Axe core has always been very easy on paint due to the staged bolt accelleration curve designed into it, and the Syx is certainly no different. As I mentioned in the vid, imo the Syz is the best iteration of the Axe line, and I still feel that way. The point of the vid is that with Axe Pros available for under $300, they offer an unbeatable value. Thanks for watching!

    Honestly, of all the markers in the Axe family, the Syx is the only one I'd buy for one simple reason: it's the only one that I can actually maintain. I can't take the reg apart on any other Axe family marker because it requires specialized tools that I don't have. I don't like buying a marker to only use it for a limited period of time, and the Syx is the only one I'd feel comfortable using for a long time.

  • @adm3991

    Man I helped offered to come over and help a friend at the field who has an Axe 2.0 and a Syx. He's only been playing for six month I hadn't been back since covid till about 3 months ago when I meet him. I have to say I was not impressed. His syx apparently went down the first day he owned it after 2 games the marker stopped shooting. Now the axe 2.0 went down and That's when I found out about his second marker the syx . I thought they were both a big pain to take apart and mind you I own like six autocockers and handful of other markers. I Taught him how to correctly service both markers and the now the axe 2.0 is working flawlessly. The syx however the solenoid keeps locking up on him at the field. Works for like 2 hours of field time then it stops. He claims he's tried multiple times to get up with empire customer service and they haven't returned his calls. Is this like normal for them now?

  • @airtimepaintball463

    @airtimepaintball463

    None of the above is remotely normal. I can completely strip an Axe 2.0 or Syx and put it back together in 2 minutes...super simple to work on. I called Empire last week and one of the techs picked up on immediately when I was transferred. Make sure he was calling the number on the Paintball Solutions site, not the random Empire number. 1.800.724.6822

    Hi! Well, I covered every iteration of the Axe platform including the Axe 2.0 in this video and I recommended the Axe Pro. I think that's the answer. On a side note, I am seeing the Syx regularly go for $375 these days, and that is a ridiculous value. If you can get your budget to the 375-400 range I'd look for a Syx 1.5

  • @XxJkatxX
    @XxJkatxX3 жыл бұрын

    One of the big differences in terms of reliability is the poppet seal on the syx is no longer plastic. Every 20-30k shots you would have to change that poppet seal in the older Axes's.

    I think you're way off on the price of a used Syx in good condition. You failed to mention the serviceability of the Syx regulator over the relay on older Axe's. And I disagree on the ergo's being similar. Having shot both, and used the Syx for over a year in competition. The Axe feels locked in and unnatural while the Syx foregrip (though panned by many) is way more accommodating. I never had a problem with the old Syx screen, and I don't need a sound on it. I hold it for a couple seconds, pull the trigger and it's on. Same when I turn it off. Anyone should be able to find a Syx in the low 300's, and I think it does provide a better overall experience than the Axe.

  • @Dave-wy5nq

    @Dave-wy5nq

    Hey I appreciate the comment! All valid observations for sure. Reg serviceability is a bit of a hassle because you really need to buy the specialized tool (you can get those at Boss Paintball btw while they last). But, if you have the tool, I'm not sure why so many complain about it. I swapped out the reg on my Axe 2.0 for a Pro reg body so that I could have the gauge, and it took me about 10 minutes total to remove the reg, completely disassemble it, swap the guts into the new body, add the gauge, and reinstall it on the gun. I men yes, the Syx is definitely even easier, but 10 minutes doesn't seem like a big ask. Plus, that old style reg has been around for so long that anyone who works on guns regularly has the tools, and will help for cheap I'm sure. For ergos, this is clearly a personal thing. The total front-to-back on the Syx (front of foregrip to back of trigger grip is about 3/4" more than the Pro, and all of that is in the fatter trigger grip of the Syx, ostensibly due to the reg being in there now. Interestingly, the open space between the foregrip and the trigger guard on the Pro is actually bigger than that same space on the Syx. So for sure, it's going to be a personal thing. Heck, some people love the ergos of the Minis, and I feel like I'm holding a toy when I shoot those! Also, I will buy every Syx you find for low 300's...say under $325. I look at every site and every group, forum, and on Reddit every day, and I've never seen one for that price, ever. If it's cheap enough I'll pay you a fee! :) Plus I'll make a new video about how the Syx is the best value, because it would be for under $325 for sure. Hey, thanks again for posting, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!I hope more people post up with opposing viewpoints. Nothing gets us thinking about stuff more than differences of opinion!
