'Don't bet against the fat boy!' - Nikola Jokic on winning NBA Finals MVP & his appetite to win more

Спорт

I sat down with 2x league MVP and now 2023 NBA Finals MVP, Nikola Jokic, to ask him about what it feels like being an NBA champion, his relationship with his teammates and Coach Michael Malone, and, what's next for him after defeating the Miami Heat in Game 5 to win the 2023 NBA Finals.

@@Abulkhirat9 Yes, his oldest brother is one of the exceptions. Sometimes Vojvodinians are under influence of other parts of Serbia where people are told through the media, literature, and school institutions that they are threatened by the western part of the world and that they should have a warlike and conquering spirit towards the surrounding countries. In 2019, he had a problem with the law, because he was suspected of strangling and pushing a woman in an apartment. She called for help by using a computer to send a message, and the person she contacted called the authorities. Strahinja was charged with second-degree assault and eventually pleaded guilty to two counts and received a deferred sentence, meaning he will not face any punishment as long as he follows the rules of unsupervised probation.

Lmao love the quote! This man creates memes without trying. Very humble but also very honest that basketball isn’t the most important thing to him. He has repeatedly said this. Difference between him and other players that aren’t passionate about basketball is Jokic is one of the best to do it

Most players understandably so would relish their success of their first time being a champion and recognized as the best basketball player in the world. Then you might see them slack off a bit once they reach this dream/goal. But i think for jokic the chip is just a process and he has bigger goals beyond just more chips. The fact that he just wants to play basketball and still get better to me shows that he is going to continue to play at a high level and consistently contend for chips. Like he said the journey is the motivation instead of the result.

I think he has a lot of resentment towards the racist media for how they were disrespecting him, and trivializing winning the chip is his way of getting back at them. If you saw him screaming on the bench he certainly cares more than he lets on.

Malika, keep up the great job, your one of the few that come across genuine, you seem to care about the game and players, never change, as an audience and fans, we love the game, it’s awesome, but so many reporters make it other stuff and try and tear the game down, it’s for all our enjoyment, it’s what brings us together, don’t be bigger then the game, much respect.

Just imagine how other nba players would be crucified for this nonchalant attitude.. “Basketball isn’t everything” I lost my Finals MVP trophy” I don’t want to go to the parade.. I love his laid back care free personality.. I just wonder how guys like Kobe Jordan etc that eat slept breath basketball feel about how much passion he lacks for the game obviously he’s really good at basketball.. He literally tells you it’s just a job to him imagine how bad other players would be perceived with that mentality.. It’s almost disrespectful to all the greats that dedicated their life to it but at same time he’s so good at it and is genuinely just a team guy it’s kinda overlooked.. Also honestly most people can relate to his personality and views that a job is just your job end of day.. Appreciate your family friends etc more than anything.. Very interesting

There is an explanation for that. Maybe Kobe and MJ had to prove someone that they are worthy...some childhood issues. This is not hate comment, but a real one. I love MJ and Kobe. Nikola is loved, chill guy, stable, coming from a normal family, small town in Serbia where people are super chill, and our coaches teaching you to play without ego. They will literaly kill your ego and not allow you to play if you are acting like a star...

Yeah you have an interesting perspective that’s much different from the one we have in the West but especially the US due to our lack of true large scale violent conflict for generations. We take much for granted sadly, and we get easily distracted by pettiness because we haven’t had to face the cold hard truths of life in the way most people have and so we’ve become detached with silliness and grandiose thinking to some degree.
