Goodness sake, some of your videos hit closer to home, than others. 15 years of hot flashes, yet because of you, Dr. Barbie, I know that’s small potatoes compared to the life threatening issues at hand. Shortly after post menopause, I started HRT, scared off by the women’s initiative study done right around that time. Tried again with an HRT patch, felt amazing, however ( just as you stated) breast tenderness, and break through bleeding once again scared me off. Of course now, the window is slammed shut! Oh, how I wish more women knew the truth! I love you, Dr. Barbie!

You are an excellent student and you're learning this stuff like crazy. I am so proud of you.

Losing my sex appeal has been very hard for me , I didn’t even know I thought I had sex appeal. And just when I think I’m ok with myself I put on an outfit like this morning and have to change because I am too frumpy even for church . Feeling discouraged . I exercise almost daily and try to eat healthy . Just needing to vent ... thankyou

Hi Dr. Barbie, unfortunately, I found myself in your descriptions. Until I started watching your videos (in order!) during Corona, I had no idea that menopause was associated with any long term diseases. I am an exercise enthusiast, have exercised almost every day of my life since I'm 12. I'm also something of a health nut, and yes, deep down, I never thought I'd have to worry about osteoporosis. Well, in preparation for a consult with you, I did a dexa, and it looks like I have osteopenia. I was shocked. I am nearing my 54rth birthday. I cried my heart out when I saw my results. I am 7 years into my menopause. I feel so angry at the "health" (read:disease) care system. Why oh why doesn't the medical profession tell us of the disease risks when we enter menopause?! I surely would have started HRT at the start of menopause, and I'm sure many women would make that choice, given the option. I am a follower of many you tube whole food plant based doctors, I've never heard them talk about menopause and disease risk. You are the only angel who is educating women worldwide, the lone beacon of light. How can this be? It is a fluke that I found you and started watching your videos.. I shudder to think of the consequences had i never found you. I am terrified of what I now know, but, thanks to you, empowered to see if I can get on estrogen ASAP to help my situation, once I have a consult with you. Let my case serve as a warning to other women.

Thank you for telling me not to worry. These are the first words of comfort since reading my dexa results. It looks pretty bad to me, close to the numbers where one is already diagnosed with osteoporosis. Of course, I am terrified, and have have had sleepless, worry- filled nights since then. I hope you can help me reverse this. yesterday, while working on my feet, I wore a knapsack with a weighted plate inside for 5 hours, hoping doing this on a regular basis will help strengthen my bones! I will be signing up for a consult with you pronto.

Now you see just how neglected menopause is. I'll tell you a trick: Never tell another women that SHE should get this education. Instead, just talk about YOURSELF and how little YOU knew. Go on & on about how backward your information was before getting this education. Mention all the things you wrote here. (Be dramatic, shocked, & angry that you've been denied the education you deserve!) If you do that, instead of shunning you, other women will want to know more.(They'll realize that they are where you were before getting this education.) That’s me no hot flashes or any other symptoms …..until 3 years later when I got reoccurring UTIs, burning just from a shower, chaffing just from moving around. Now I’m on HRT patch and vaginal estrogen. 2 weeks and I slept through the night without having to pee a couple tablespoons. I’m so pissed of and disappointed with the many Drs who could see my age on my chart and never mentioned anything about menopause. I’ve lost bone in these years. I’ve also been on prednisone for 8 years. Neither prescribing doctor suggest I supplement estrogen or even suggest that I read information on it.

Elizabeth, I am so happy you wrote this comment. You could do yourself a world of good if you have a one-on-one consultation with me BEFORE seeing your gynecologist to discuss HRT. I can save you a mountain of mistakes, teach you all the background information, and tailor all of it to YOU beforehand so that your time with your doctor is product and easy for both of you. Please consider it. I'm in the business of educating you about everything you need to know and do in order to get exactly what you want for managing your menopause your way. So, here's how a consultation works: 1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone. 2) I would confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. For instance, if you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I would need all these things at least 1 week before your consultation with me. 3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points put the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages. 4) I will send you the document by email 48 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth. 5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed. 6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use. 7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (15-minute or 30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and balance their options. The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got form the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request. So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively). I hope to meet you soon!

Hi menopause Barbie thank you so much for another awesome video.. I keep thinking like there's something really wrong with me that I haven't managed to find any answers for yet I have gained 50 lb which started in perimenopause and then rolling into post menopause switch I went into a year ago I've been taking estriol which I started about a year ago it help with the hot flashes however it's making me so exhausted that my life has come to a standstill... I tried DHEA which I felt absolutely wonderful on for about 3 days and now that has started making me exhausted too.. I'm not anemic or low in b12.. I'm plant-based also... Most of my weight is sitting around my middle and I'm constantly feeling heavy brain fog it's almost like I can feel it right above my eyes and hard to stay awake I have juggled so many different doses of estrogen I also tried a combination of estrodial and estriol which gives me severe headaches and makes me even more tired if that's even possible I have severe mood swings... When I try adding progesterone to the mix same thing happens us with the DHEA I feel great for 2 or 3 days and then even worse.. the only time I really have any energy is in the mornings and then around 10 it fades fast I'm debating if I should increase my dosages of estrogen even more even though it increases my fatigue I'm wondering if that could just be temporary I'm using bioidentical cream by the way

This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. It requires taking everything into account and tailoring all the information to YOU specifically. That's impossible here in this comment box. Please consider scheduling a consultation. I'd love to help you.

Dr Doctor. You are simply amazing and I cannot thank you enough for this menopause series. I'm 62, from UK and was on Evorel Conti for 9 years. I stopped it 3 years ago however this past Winter, I started getting repeated UTI's, my skin was shrivelling up enormously, tiny cuts wouldn't hear for months and very poor sleep. I saw my Doctor 3 months ago and asked, after watching your videos to get back on to the Evorel Conti. He did so and told me as you've just stated to perform frequent breast examinations on myself and to get either him or a female Doctor to check me every 6 months and also to go for regular mammograms. My BP is 120/70, weight is 53 kgs and I'm otherwise in good health. My question to you is: Is there anyway that you could possibly show us the right way to perform breast exams as I feel totally clueless about doing them?

I sought out a little medical help in perimenopause and bought the progesterone misconceptions. Then I was rah, rah, rah so excited that my periods stopped & no hot flashes. I thought ok on with life. I don't need a Dr. for this nor HRT. I passed menopause. Yes, as if it's something you graduate from. So wrong...I hope women take this seriously & get educated for the longest stage of their lives and get pro active early. They will want to share your tutorials & book with others to be informed. There is a wealth of information that you most likely won't get anywhere else. 16+ years post menopausal and value this awareness so much. { I can't go back and prevent the broken bones I've suffered, osteoporosis & osteoarthritis but most watching this probably can in themselves or a loved one. • @MenopauseTaylor

If you gain any weight on HRT, it's usually just when you first start simply because your body has always responded to changes in hormones with a little weight gain (as with pregnancy and PMS). So, it's a myth that Hot makes you gain weight, except at first. And, even then, it's only the same 1 - 2 pounds that you gained with PMS. The weight gain issue is one of the biggest misconceptions about menopause. Think about it: All the years of your reproductive life, when you still have estrogen on board, you don't have a weight problem. But when you LOSE your estrogen, you gain weight. So, it's the loss of estrogen that is to blame. It's Mother Nature's fault. And it happens because loss of estrogen slows down your metabolism and causes you to deposit fat in your belly area. All the years of your reproductive life you had "bloating" due to temporary water weight that was a result of fluctuating hormones, most significant just before your period started. Now, in your post-menopausal life, you'll have actual weight gain that is due to permanent fat accumulation as a result of estrogen loss. Don't confuse bloating with weight gain. HRT cannot make you gain weight. Menopause itself can (and does). Women make the grave mistake of deciding to quit HRT because they blame it for their weight gain. It's completely backward. HRT will help you avoid weight gain, not contribute to it.

Dr Taylor your are such a great professional and inspiration! Thanks so much for theses series of unvaluable educational videos. While I was listening, just crossed my mind the following thought: if in the perimenopause (PeriM) mainly the progesterone ist dropping down , why HRT prescription includes estrogen. I know you explained how variable are these hormones during PeriM. I've heard colleagues that prescribed low dosages of hormones at early stages of PeriM in women approx. 45-47 and then work the way up to alleviate symptoms. Ist that because the lack of hormones ist not that strong at PeriM? Is that the reason cause some doctors are not that keen on prescribing HRT at these ages, unless you're suffering great symptoms ? Once again thank you so much.

Think about it this way: While progesterone is the first hormone to drop, estrogen is YOUR FEMALE hormone. And the real problems begin when estrogen disappears. If you are taking progesterone only, it may alleviate some of your problems with irregular periods for a while ... but eventually, when your estrogen disappears, it will make things much worse. That's because progesterone has side effects that women hate (severe drowsiness that lasts all day, bloating, weight gain, acne, & depression ... all the stuff you associate with early pregnancy or PMS).

With very premature menopause (before early 30s, from surgery, cancer etc), how much estrogen replacement is typically required to maintain normal levels for your age? Are blood levels of estradiol a good way to make sure you're getting enough and what numbers should we aim for? Since estradiol fluctuates hugely during the cycle of healthy young women, the ranges given by the labs are not very helpful when it comes to testing postmenopausal women on HRT as any result from 100-1000 will come up as "normal depending on cycle". Love your channel and would love more videos about very premature ovarian failure and what happens when a woman in her 20s or 30s suddenly is flung into a postmenopausal state. There is precious little information available on this subject and most gynaecologists don't have a clue. 🐦

Maria, This is the kind of thing that warrants and deserves a one-on-one consultation. Premature menopause is a very big deal, and no two situations are the same. What you need and deserve is tailoring of all the information specifically to YOU. No lab or chart of estradiol levels can help you. Please, please, schedule a consultation. The CO2 laser is the news gynecological gadget. It's much like the lasers available for rejuvenation of your face. Usually it requires 3 treatments. And it is not painless. The early results are good, but, because it's new, there's no way to know the long-term results. You would really benefit from a consultation in which I could teach you exactly what's really happening to your vagina. It goes a lot deeper than just your symptoms. And your comment about "estrogen dominance" is not consistent with what I've taught you. So, maybe you're mingling what you've learned from me with what you've learned elsewhere. That's why I suggested a consultation. It's the only way to really address everything and make absolutely sure you're not confused. In your comment, you've brought up a whole host of issues that require attention: (1) Lack of sleep (2) Estrogen lotion ... but I don't know what kind or the dosage (3) Progesterone as a contraceptive IUD, and as the baby's hormone, and as an agent to induce sleep) (4) Estrogen dominance In a consultation, I can fully address and explain all of them. There are many areas of significance. So, it's good that you've watched all the videos. But, I want to make sure you get the very best guidance.

So wouldn't this cancel each other out? Does the estrogen patch increase the risk of uterine cancer slightly? Or to a great extent? I've tried to get further information about how great the difference in risk is online, but can't find much on it, excluding medical reports (as they are very hard to understand). Thanks Dr. Taylor - you're a gem!!!

I don't really understand your question, but I think I know what you need to make sense of things: Estrogen is the fertilizer. It makes your uterine lining thicker. Progesterone is the lawnmower. It prevents your uterine lining from getting too thick. The key is to balance the two so that you get the benefits of estrogen without causing your uterine lining to get too thick. The problem is that progesterone causes a bunch of yucky side effects. It sounds to me like you would benefit greatly from a consultation with me. I could make sure you understand absolutely everything (way beyond what you've asked here) and also tailor everything to YOU so that you do what's best FOR YOU. You will never find what's best FOR YOU on the Internet.

Hi, I chanced upon your channel while searching for information on HRT. I menopaused (naturally) at around 40 years old, I'm now 57. It's way too late for me to start HRT now since I've exceeded the 5-10 years of window of opportunity. What can I do now? I have anxiety, n I'm worried about the risks of heart attack, osteoporosis n Alzheimer's disease.

Because of cancers that run in my family, I have been tested and found that I have the ATM gene mutation which puts me at risk of higher chance of breast cancer. (About 33% risk of having breast cancer by 80) But Alzheimers (dad)and heart disease (mom) also runs in my family. The nurse that is following me for the ATM mutation is wanting me to go off HRT and take an estrogen blocker for 5 years, she says that will decrease my risk of breast cancer in half. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? I am 56.

I have addressed this in a few different videos. When patients became afraid of estrogen, doctors became afraid of prescribing estrogen. They feared litigation. So, they are reacting to the panic created by the WHI study in 2002. The other reason is that most doctors know almost nothing about menopause. That's why I educate YOU. Video 130 was on Menopause Mantras, one of the most common (and stupid) of which is "Take the lowest dosage of HRT for the shortest time." Post-menopause is an estrogen-deficiency state (videos 77 & 78). It's no different than a deficiency of insulin in diabetes or a deficiency of thyroid hormone in hypothyroidism. Yet, have you ever heard anyone say you should only take insulin or thyroid hormone in the lowest dosage for the shortest period of time? Of course not. Nor will you. So why is it different for estrogen? Fear. That's the only reason. In videos 80 - 90, I educated you about the estrogen window of opportunity. Those videos address your questions about duration of HRT. And you should definitely watch all my videos in order (beginning with the very first one) if you want to do justice to yourself in getting this eduction. If you don't want to watch all the videos, but want to know everything and have it tailored to you specifically, schedule a one-on-one consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME.

You look so beautiful in this outfit! Thanks to you I am not obvious! I never had hot flashes but I have everything else now! I am still bleeding so I cant increase my dose of Estrogen. I have not called for a consultation because I was diagnosed with MS. I see there is a link between MS and menopause. Right now I am in a storm of doctors appointments and procedures. Plus my GYN is out of town for the month of July and end of June. My last tests that I sent you were better than the first because I started prometrium. In regards to mammograms my insurance says we only need them once every 2 years. So we are paying cash! Thank you for this video!

I met this lady and she is around 58 and says she still has her period and no menopause. I guess this is pretty rare or maybe she was just lying cause she didn't like me saying the flouride isn't good in the water and the mainstream Dentists says so. Anyway we never became friends. I guess I didn't fit in this little group she wanted to start. Many close their minds. Rather have like minded friends anyway.

I am so sad I've missed the window of opportunity to start HRT. I try to protect my joints with constant stretching and yoga but I am so concerned about all that is going on with everything else I.e. the dryness and shrinkage of so many things. Is all hope lost now or is there something we who have missed the window can do? Thank you for all of your powerful and insightful information😊

@@MenopauseTaylor I think you dodged helping just now, with information something you could suggest we look up easily. I feel disappointed in that. We are interested IN STAYING ALIVE IN BODY AND MIND. A few tweaks to help those of us way past The "M" WINDOW would have been good. I'm now 61. No doctor helping me with anything. I manage Asthma and Diabetic issues WITH DIET ALONE. Well, that's my way and since I haven't heard anything that really WORKS EXCEPT "PHARMACEUTICALS" I GUESS I'M SCREWED WITHOUT HAVING ANY. BLEAH... I'm not angry with you. Just aggravated about the barriers poor women face. I'm a very poor widow.

Some questions require much more to answer them than I can possibly provide here in this comment box. I am a very generous person, and I pay a lot out of my own pocket to create these videos for you. I do not think I deserve to be chastised. I hope you continue watching and taking advantage of this education. I will cover absolutely everything ... but I will do so in a very orderly manner. And I provide thorough answers to anything I can here in the comment box. When I can't do that, I suggest a consultation so that I can tailor the answer to the individual.

I've endured this menopause phase for just over 4yrs & I'm ready for help! Will going on HRT help with these awful symptoms or should I keep suffering hoping this goes away? Excessive never losing weight anymore, thinning hair, crepey skin & not able to control body temperature issues are ruining my life!!

Hrt changed my life for the better! Sleeping again, lost the weight I gained, no more hot flashes/night sweats, stable moods. I will hopefully be on it for the rest of my life. Hrt prevents heart disease-our number 1 killer. So it’s a win/win for me!

Momma Bear I was so worried about going on HRT because of the negativity surrounding it, but it was the best thing I done. I also exercise and eat healthy. I would advise doing a lot of research on menopause and educating yourself but I would have to say out of all the research I done Dr Taylor gives the best advise. Menopause does not go away and it doesn’t.go away. I would also suggest that watching these tutorial from the first one is the best way to learn. Oh and I had all the same symptoms as you plus anxiety. I was surprised at the stages you go through it really is puberty in reverse. Be kind to yourself

Please, please, schedule a consultation with me. You need a lot of background education in addition to tailoring all of the options to YOU. And that's precisely what I do in consultations. You need not continue to suffer ... and never should have in the first place. I have gotten freaked out about weight gain so I stopped my HRT. it’s just been a couple weeks and I realize this was a bad decision. I just feel so frustrated talking to my doctor who suggests that I should do HRT for the shortest time possible. I am a person who needs to have a plan and I feel frustrated trying to make sense of everything. I am going to back and start your videos for the beginning and rewatch them.
