Two friends are telling me to tough it out and it'll get better. Hormone therapy is too risky. Well, if I didn't stumble across your channel while recovering from my girl parts being ripped out (aka they spayed me!), I may well have taken their advice and been miserable as hell with hot flashes, killer insomnia, and night sweats. You teach us that we NEED estrogen and the added benefits will help lead a longer, healthier life. They still think I'm not doing the right thing, but it's my life.....let ME live it.

Can you imagine any telling you to tough it out if your body stopped producing insulin? Isn't it odd that women have bought into the idea of living half their lives with a hormone deficiency that makes them absolutely miserable?

Just got to get the GP's not to FEAR prescribing HRT. I have PTSD as well , it was caused by witnessing a violent death. All I think about is premature death. My GP LOVES taunting me with what might happen in the future , supposed , reality or otherwise. They dont think that it MIGHT NOT HAPPEN TO ME . They talk as if it's a CERTAINTY. It's an enjoyable sport for them to continually shit me up. I think the media is responsible for a lot of scaremongering too. Before long it will be hazardous to health to just breath in. You know there was even a programme on the box last night slagging off Yoga ! I mean , fucking hell , that's the only thing I do in my life that's good !!!!!. Can you believe that ?

And I question the "status quo" ... the kind of "collective belief" of groups including doctors who are not as passionate as you are ..We were never taught about belief system , how the brain works..how we're "conditioned" through our education, past experiences , trauma. This is a very powerful video! Really most of the fear I have seen is coming from doctors! As an example though not really menopause related I had a mammogram and the radiologist was trying to convince me that it was cancer. y doctor told her it was not that I did not need surgery. I was not going to fall for it and I dont even think it is legal to say it looks like cancer. Just trying to make a commission for the hospital. Anyway with menopause I cant believe how many doctors are terrified of it! Before I was on it my primary care doctor told me it was too "radical." I was looking forward to menopause because it meant stopping your period. But its been very traumatic for me. Less so because of you! Thank you!

The truth about fear. Thank you, Dr. Barbie. You caused me to start thinking about menopausal women and heart disease, versus breast cancer. Just a week ago I had a 3D mammogram, I’ve been having them annually (pretty much) since an early age, due to dense breast tissue. Not one of us women can deny the look of fear on every woman’s face, as we sit there together with those cotton gowns on. I’m wondering why heart health is not at the forefront for post menopausal women. We must be our own advocates. I can’t begin to thank you enough for being here for all of us.

Even my business that I was getting really tired of I now have renewed vigor and enjoy what I do and I know it's not a placebo effect because I've tried so many different things just to feel like life was worth living and nothing ever did until DHEA and like I said I still do take estrogen at night but somehow with the DHEA It's seems like a massive life-changer for me would love to hear your thoughts on it I can honestly say I feel like I'm 20 again and that is so bizarre cuz I thought I would never feel really good again that I would always be just going through life love your videos you're so funny and your knowledge and organizational skills are just through the roof

Amy, If you have not watched videos 80 - 90, please do. They cover the entire concept of "The Estrogen Window of Opportunity" that designates all this stuff about the secondary benefits. In the charts, I provide the necessary dosages of progesterone to balance estrogen. You will see that 100 mg of progesterone balances .05 mg of estradiol if you are on the continuous regimen. You don't want to take any more progesterone than you have to. It causes all sorts of yucky side effects that women hate (drowsiness, bloating, acne, weight gain, depression). You want enough to satisfy your uterus and that's all.

Consider scheduling a one-on-one consultation with me if you'd like me to tailor all the facts to YOU personally. Peace of mind is everything, and it comes from being confident about your decisions. I'm in the business of educating you about everything you need to know and do in order to get exactly what you want for managing your menopause your way. So, here's how a consultation works: 1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone. 2) I would send you an email to confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. For instance, if you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I will give you a deadline for sending all materials, and will not accept anything after that date. 3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points out the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU, using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages. 4) I will send you the document by email 48 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth. 5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want in order to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed. 6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use. 7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (15-minute or 30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and re-balance their options. The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got from the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request. So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively). I hope to meet you soon!

Dr. Taylor...I noticed you mentioned the progesterone pushers. I love bioidentical estradiol pellets but can't handle the high testosterone doses that that pellet providers push on women. A provider only allowed me to have an estrogen only pellet one time, I finally felt great, and he dropped me as a patient! I've been postmenopausal for nearly 24 years and had great results with the E patch for many of those years before it just seemed to stop working. I've tried everything else there is to try since that time and felt best with the E only pellet but most pellet providers want to dose women with testosterone only or very low, low doses of estrogen and high doses of testosterone which my body can't handle. I don't have a uterus so I don't have to use P which is good because it has the same effect on me that the testosterone does. I know many women who love the estrogen pellets but their pellet doctors...even gynecologist...who provide pellet therapy always seem to come back around to wanting to pump them full of testosterone. I feel very badly for women who are newbies to menopause, have no idea how their bodies work, and put so much blind trust in these docs that they allow them to overdose them with testosterone and then suffer the consequences of it. Do you plan on doing a video in the future to address the issue of whether or postmenopausal woman needs testosterone replacement and the high testosterone dose pushers?

They have offered me a antidepressant to help with hot flushes but this is only one issue , I said i would see my own GP, but think she not see things any differently. Feel like they don't listen to what you say. Am i asking for too much in my situation?

You are absolutely NOT asking too much. Schedule a one-on-one consultation with me. I will tell you precisely how to get what you want. You are being neglected terribly, and you deserve much better treatment. 2) I would confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. I would need all these things at least 1 week before your consultation with me. 3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points put the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages. 4) I will send you the document by email 48 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth. 5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want to fine tune everything and determine your best options. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and balance their options. The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got form the Internet.

Thank you for your website, your videos, your wealth of research and information... but most of all, for BEING THERE for us! Why is menopause so taboo in our society? We can discuss puberty, adolescence, periods, childbirth... but menopause, we're supposed to live in silence. It makes it even harder when one's family (as in my case) is comprised of men and young women only. No one wants to hear about it. Forget empathy! I only have two slightly older women in my social circle I've been able to talk to... and, of course, I do get empathy there, but no reliable information. I came across your channel through another KZreadr (Angie from Hot and Flashy). Watched a few of your recent videos, then went back to take the series from #1. I'm now at #18. But I have 2 questions burning my mind, and I'll post them here, your most recent upload. 1) You say that we're not supposed to live beyond 47 years and that menopause is therefore not natural. But weren't our bodies designed to live/replicate cells to 120 and we just die sooner because of disease? Mostly, I'd like to know your thoughts on the Grandmother Hypothesis! 2) I understand that cycles become more erratic during perimenopause. But in my case, the exact opposite seems to have happened. They were erratic all my life (30-90 days, usually 40-60) and when I turned 45, all of a sudden they became a perfect 28 (give or take one or 2 days sometimes). No doctor has been able to explain why, so they brush off my question. I haven't found anything to enlighten me, but I'm convinced this signaled the beginning of my perimenopause, even though it's totally outside the norm. Indeed, this is not just about becoming shorter, but also "perfect". So, I would like to understand how I came to have "perfect" cycles only after 45 and still now at nearly 52. I'm looking forward to purchasing your book. I was mostly educated by "Our Bodies, Our Selves", so having a book rich with information is still a necessity for me in this day and age. But I love your tutorials... it's like finally having the friend I need during this time! Maria

Maria, With regard to your question about lifespan: Mother Nature has a formula for how long each kind of animal lives. It's all about the heart rate. Every animal gets 1 billion heartbeats, and then it dies. That's why little tiny animals, like mice, with little tiny hearts that beat quickly die in about 2 years. And that's why great big animals, like elephants, with great big hearts that beat very slowly live for about 80 years. Based on this formula, humans are supposed to die at about age 47 ... before we go through menopause. The only reason humans aren't dying at age 47 is because of all our scientific and medical advances. So now humans are getting 2.1 billion bests. I call it your billion-beat bonus. I don't know about you, but I think of a billion-beat bonus as bonus time. The problem is that we outlive our ovaries and the hormones they produce. And that's what menopause is: loss of our female hormone estrogen. Loss of any hormone (insulin, thyroid hormone, etc.) is called a "deficiency state." And every deficiency state gives you a long list of miserable symptoms. Estrogen deficiency is no different. But there are many ways to compensate for estrogen deficiency. And that's what this menopause education is all about. And, as for your now-regular periods. This is can unusual situation! Maybe you're like Benjamin Button, and getting younger. (Just joking). The more frequent periods at peri-menopause is no surprise. Many women have more frequent periods at the time of peri-menopause. What's surprising is how perfect the timing is. The first thing that comes to mind as I consider your situation is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). And I wonder if you had/have PCOS, and the lower progesterone of peri-menopause has made it less apparent.

@@MenopauseTaylorHello Dr Barbie. I am so honored you replied to me! I notice, in fact, that you reply to everyone, and it amazes me you find the time. Such dedication speaks volumes as your passion and your mission. I want to say thanks, first, and then tell you I was blown away by your suggestion. You see, I often suspected all my life that I might have PCOS. But having nothing other than my very irregular periods, and my extremely oily skin (few blemishes, though) as symptoms (normal weight, equal distribution of fat), I could never be sure. My kids were conceived during rare times where I was having 30-day cycles, whereas a two-month totally unprotected relationship in my 30s yielded no pregnancy (luckily, most foolish thing I ever did). I have always prided myself in being very knowledgeable on female biology and health matters, but I am learning so much from your videos. Whether it's endometriosis, nutrition, hormone fluctuations, bioidentical hormones, etc., I am really learning so much. Even your video where you load your shopping cart with hundreds of supplements... it was funny, but makes you think a lot. Thanks again. Maria

Yes, Maria. I respond to every comment (unless there's a KZread glitch that prevents me from clicking on one). And PCOS come in a wide range of presentations. Some women are tall, thin, have no acne, and appear incompatible with PCOS. But your menstrual history is classic. And it's important for you to know if you have it because it puts you at risk for some really significant problems later on (Type 2 diabetes, heart attack, high blood pressure). If no one has ever assessed this with you, consider scheduling a one-on-one consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I'll make sure you have the information you need.

@@MenopauseTaylor I would love a one--on-one consultation with you! I have no one to talk to, no knowledgeable older friend, no empathic family member, no specialized professional. I am also quite outside the norm (in many things!), which makes it hard for professionals to understand me, even medically. I want to understand those risks you mention (especially the first two; I inherited low blood pressure from my father... but then again, he was never a menopausal woman, LOL). I think I should first get your book and finish watching the video series, to make sure I have all my questions on hand. Should I have a test done for you to interpret it? I understand that if I ever had PCOS, it could not show now. Maria

Hmm, I had no preconceived expectations of menopause. It’s not in my control so I’d just have to go through it. And nothing happened until 3 years later when I got burning with showering and reoccurring UTIs. Atrophic vaginitis. So I consumed all the info I could and decided I wanted the patch. My nurse practitioner told me that I also needed vaginal estrogen. It helped a lot in just 2 weeks. No more daily discomfort. Slept through the night without having to pee 2 TBSP each of the 3 times I awake. I did not know that this was a menopausal problem because I have autoimmune disease with lots of weird symptoms.

Menopause Barbie I just love you! I’m 39 and 3 years ago I got off my birth control pill because I heard it may cause Breast cancer (no family risk) and because it had lowered my libido (not that I cared but my husband did) I absolutely loved being on the pill and had no side effects. Exactly 3 months after I got off the pill my skin started breaking out terribly and my hair started shedding like crazy. I know these are side effects of going off the pill. Also, I stopped having dairy 10 years ago when I realized it was responsible for 90% of my breakouts and bloating. Well it’s been 3 years and although my skin and hair have recovered some it’s still not what it used to be. I eat super healthy, healthier than anybody I know! I love fruits and vegetables. Should I just get back on the pill???? It’s making me miserable!

I love bioidentical estrogen. I feel SO GOOD on it. It took away my depression, anxiety, and gave me great skin and hair. But I immediately went off it because of a scare on my breast biopsy report, which was abnormal but not cancer. I'm thinking of going back on it again. I fear that if they found breast cancer, not only will they take away my hormones, they will also give me anti-estrogen therapy which will deteriorate my body.

Doctors are the reason behind our fear. The doctors tell us we should avoid hrt or-if desperate because of symptoms-use the smallest dose for the least amount of time. This is the standard line. Why can’t our doctors get this education? It’s crazy that we have to go around the medical professional in order to learn this.

Doctors are reactionary. The WHI report from 2002 scared women to death. That made doctors fear litigation. So, they reacted by withholding HRT. The whole thing is one big mess. And I'm trying to give you the truth so that you can do as you please with facts rather than fear. They have reacted to the WHI. If you haven't watched my video on Menopause Mantras (130), you should. In fact, if you watch my videos in order, starting with the very first one, you'll definitely know EVERYTHING you need to know about both the science, the medical industry, your insurance, and how to get what you want.

You know, I think this is all up to women. If women demand more, the medical and alternative and pharmaceutical and fitness and dietetic industries would all have to provide better services to menopausal women. That's why I teach the way I do. If women don't strive to make things better for themselves, nobody will. It's not just doctors. It's every industry that has anything at all to do with serving menopausal women. Not one of these industries offers even a morsel of education on menopause. So, dietitians, nutritionists, fitness trainers, exercise instructors, and pharmacists are all completely clueless when it comes to anything about menopause. In fact, I am in the process of creating educational materials specifically for each of these industries. The best thing you can do now is get this education and then find professionals who will work with you rather than against you.
