Don is holding it up because he's probably ALWAYS been insanely Jealous of Farner's popularity, not to mention his superior vocals and musicianship. Farner was the creative center of the band and Brewery HATES that. ( Yes, I know it's Brewer, but after he fucked over Mark Farner, he became a Brewery as far as I'm concerned)

@@gittahfiend Selling out shows wherever they go? What dreamworld is he living in?! The one of major denial. He realizes that Farner was the star of the show, and won't accept that due to jealousy. They'd be selling out shows if Farner was there, but until then...they're playing a town hall show here in my neck of the woods free of charge. I like lots of acts out there that don't have original members (Foreigner,Kansas, etcetc). @reggiejahn there's some good interview footage with Mark about this whole thing. They misrepresented papers for the band members to sign. I would guess under the circumstances that if Mark took them to court. It may very well not hold up. It may not get the ultimate best result but likely some compromise would br made. Mark is just to nice about it. The Mark Farner American band kicks ass though. Mark may not hold the name but he holds the legacy and the current GLAND SPUNK would get blown off the stage by the players in the Mark Farner American Band. They are all losing money that they could have made together but I guess Don's and Mels pride is far more important.🤔

I notice that Don did not bring up the fact that he sued Mark Farner for the rights to use the name GFR despite the fact that it was Mark that wrote the majority of the songs that put that band on the map and was also the iconic symbol of Grand Funk. Don will never admit this but without the name GF hanging over his head, nobody would know who the hell he was. Mark however is still touring under his own name and that says it all.

Apparently being the focal point of the band outweighs playing good music and caring about the group’s fans. Grand Funk is now at best a Grand Funk cover band. I think Brewer is a really good drummer and singer and teaming up with Farner again would fantastic.

Screw this guy. He should not be able to tour as GFR. Mark was the star and out front carrying the band. That's a much harder gig than people realize. It's been forever ago and these are fully grown, old men. How is it possible to not put the past behind them. It comes down to money. They don't want to share the loot with Mark. Just like GnR did. They don't share the loot evenly with Duff, Slash, Axl. They just got enough of the old band that they could get away with. Izzy kind of did it to himself by quitting so early but they weren't the GnR we loved by the time he quit anyway. But my understanding is they wanted to pay izzy as just a sideman. Probably what these guys are trying to do with Mark. What's the beef with Mark anyway? Songwriting? They certainly weren't a popular band anymore when he went his own way.

I wouldn't go see Grand Fraud Railroad if you gave me free backstage passes. I would however, go see Mark Farner singing his original songs with his band. That is way closer to the sound of Grand Funk than Don's fake little tribute band. It's a shame that Melvin Schacher is part of this charade. I always thought that he was a seriously underrated bass player.

I saw you play in '68-'69 all the way to the 2000s. I talked to you for about 45 minutes, just bullshitting at Wild Adventures in Valdosta Ga. My son is a touring drummer in Nashville because of you. You are the best drummer and showman ever. Thank you for Grand funk Railroad. I don't care about the drama. I only love the music. Regardless of the feelings then and/or now, You, mark and Mel were the best.

Loved that band. I have a clear memory of hearing I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home) for the first time. It also happened to be the first time I ever heard FM radio. The song was amazing and in the time of two minute pop songs it just kept going and going, getting better with each passing second. Blew my mind!

Is the skirmish between Brewer and Farmer the reason why live for Bosnia never released on DVD? I know it's digitally recorded because I've seen some tracks that are released on KZread. In my opinion, it, even today, would end up being a top seller in Rock Concert DVD's. Thanks, Don Nelson

Sorry to say, but Don Brewer IS the BS reason for Mark Farner not being in GFR. And for this, my regard for Brewer - as a person - is rather low. (I suspect its because of Farner's Christian faith. I may be wrong, but just a hunch...)

Suffice to say for all GFR fans you can continue Mr. Brewer as a decent “ cover band” playing GFR ‘s catalogue of songs. As you are. You’re holding on to an offense that’s going to tear at you for the rest of your life until you forgive and move on. Why are you so bitter Don??? IF YOU could get it together again it would be Epic! You wouldn’t have to travel to much. Here’s a suggestion- Have 6 regional locations with three consecutive nights. Therefore allowing the fans to come to you… bc they will support it. We all know that Mel prefers not to fly. Staying in the same city, same venue will allow plenty of time to interact with local media, the community at large and even do a few cameos for local charities… the ideas and experiences are endless. Allow the original fans to bring their kids/ grandkids along for the GFR reunion for everyone… One Big Family Reunion!!!😊👍👏❤️🎤🎸🥁🎹😎🇺🇸
