This would be one of the greatest reunions of this generation. Grand Funk Railroad truly deserves to be in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

He is the man. I fell in love with GFR in ‘69. They were my favorite band all through high school right up now 50 years later. Saw them 3 times, twice at MSG in the early ‘70s and then during the Bosnian Tour. Met Mark a few years ago and got my pic with him. Very nice man and still a great entertainer. I refuse to see the Grand Funk cover band out there now. Mark Farner was,is and always will be Grand Funk.

Mark is the FUNK in the RR. AND the GRAND in it too! Mark is full of love and forgiveness. One of the least selfish people on this planet. While Don Brewer and Mel Schacher are obviously into themselves more than the fans. Their guilt for what they did to Mark has put them in a position of shame where they can’t look him in the eyes, so they avoid him at all cost. While Mark has ALREADY FORGIVEN THEM.

After Prince passed away there was only one band left I would pay to see...Mother's Finest. A Grand Funk Railroad reunion would be a dream come true. That's the only other band I would buy tickets for. Hope I live to see that happen

Mark Farner is a solid guy ! A real man of character !

In my heart I still have a 100% plus HOPE that my favorite greatest legendary rock group of all time (GFR) will reunite back together again, God Bless, nuff said!!!

Mark is and always will be Grand Funk! I saw the original band in Las Vegas many years ago and they were awesome. Mark has so much integrity.

What is one of the most unfortunate things that happens often in this business, no matter what playing level musicians are on, is when they forget where they came from. Their roots. That is very sad. I've seen this many times. Never, ever forget where you came from nor forget your roots and those faithful ones who helped. They are your true friends. My Grandpa taught me that and it warms me that you, Mark, truly live by that ethic. And thank you for your music I've enjoyed your work very much and still do. Well Done, sir, Well Done!

Mark Farner is so awesome man! I really enjoy listening to him no matter what he is talking about. I have been his and the original Grand Funk Railroad fan since early 1970 when I first heard the "Red Album". I saw them during the, "We're An American Band" tour in Toronto and saw Mark solo a few times, also in Toronto and met him during one of those times I think in the 80's and got his friggin' autograph while I was tongue tied meeting my favorite ROCKER.

Yes, their the band I cut my teeth on, and as a musician I have seen these pumped up narcissistic egos to many times to remember. I guess the late Terry Knight taught Don & Mel well, thanks for interviewing Brother Mark, he has pleasant spirit, Peace!!!!!!!

My band opened the show on NYE, 1974 in Las Vegas for Grand Funk & Freddie King! What a night! Grand Funk was at their greatest that night!

Without Mark Farner, there is no Grand Funk.

Don and Mel are touring as Grand Funk with another singer and keyboard player. They don't feel they need Mark, even though they are relying on his music. I love that he keeps his positive energy and does not allow himself to get bitter.

Mark was always my favorite, now I can see why. What they did to him was terrible!!! When my oldest granddaughter was about nine years old, we got into my Jeep and out of nowhere she asked me, “Papa, what is Rock and Roll?” Well, that’s all in needed and on came Foot Stomping Music by GFR an d it struck home with her!!! This was a great article, very enjoyable and I hope Mark keeps going on forever besides how bad his hand is!!!

Mark I love you so much man, and look to you as the voice of GFR. I pray every day that some day GFR can reunite. The greatest American Rock band ever! Thank you for giving these interviews and keep on keeping on! Whenever I hear a GFR song it is your voice that I hear most. THE SHOW PBS 1969 Hershey, PA is one of my favorites and features that rare early guitar of yours (thrift shop special?) Wish I could have been there! I was born in 69.

I saw GFR in Springfield Illinois in 1970 and I still remember that this was the loudest concert that I have ever been to. Many cover bands in our area still play their great tunes which we dance to.

I agree. Mark Farner is the guy I listened to when I was a GFR fan. The other two are out of their minds for not wanting to regroup.

Mark Farner is a brilliant musician and really gives his all. I would love to see the three back together. They had so much feeling and clearly created something great.

Their cover of Locomotion still blows me away ! The three of them together were as good as any band has ever been .

Mark is the most awesome frontman! No one can touch him even in 2023!!!! I love you bro❤️😊🙏🇮🇱

Love Mark Farner! Saw GFR when newcomers "Cheech & Chong" opened for them in Albuquerque at Tingley Colliseum in the 70s. I was in 8th grade! To be young again to experience the greatest music & concerts just one more time! Heartbreaker!

I saw Grand Funk on the Bosnia tour in Indy. One of the greatest thrills of my life. I hoped that was the beginning of together forever. Mark is the reason I still try to play guitar.

I seen everyone of Grand Funk Railroad’s shows on the east coast, and have one thing to say to Don Brewer, bury the hatchet and gets back together and bring the other two guys and put on the greatest show that we haven’t seen in over 30 years on! one more tour for the road 😎🎸☮️

My first concert was in 1973 in El Paso Tx . GRAND FUNK IN CONCERT , I have the ticket still signed by Mark , I went to Vegas to watch Mark in concert in 2010 , then I saw him again in El Paso Tx in 2011 or 12 . God bless Mark Farner. By chance walked in to BB Kings club in Manhattan in 07. Happened to be a RocknRoll fantasy camp finale. First thing I noticed was Dickey Bettes' Shady Brady. Couldn't believe my luck. I'm a huge Dickey and ABB fan. But... the thing that blew me away was Mark Farner doing I'm Your Captain and absolutely killing it. Whoa! Was unreal. Goose bumps.

Mark, I am praying you guys get back together!!! No disagreement whatsoever can take away the beautiful music you guys made!!! I am forever hopeful!!!

I remember as a 12 year old boy, I lip synced to a grandfunk song in a middle school talent show.I even had the arm band on.I used a tennis racket and some cardboard.The kids loved it.The song was We,re an American band.

I wish more than for any other band or ex band that "Grand funk" the band would get together again I want to see them at least once before I pass sincerely 🙏.

Mark is the best. I say the hell with those other guys. We don't need them. I met Mark in 1992 just me and my wife with him in his tour bus. I've always loved Mark.

It would be great to see the original Grand Funk Railroad together, the fans need this band now!

So glad I saw this incredible band in the late 90’s at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset MA. Mark Farmer is one awesome (and underrated in my opinion) guitarist, one of the best I’ve seen including Clapton, Santana, Fogarty, Harrison, CSNY, Leslie West and others. Mark Farner is so right about the selfishness of not burying the hatchet for all the fans who have supported them and reuniting for a final tour. Our loss lends a tarnish to Mark’s band mates who dishonor us.

These guys need to get together soon before one of them is gone and everybody will be crying why they didn't do it when there was a chance. I would love to see the day they can reunite and go on tour again. No drama, no bs, just rock n' roll!

Yeah, like you speak of love making the 80s I think You prayed in Tucson with some other members at the gardens got to meet you cause I was working there I was I was drunk you are such a nice man you started riding me with you are still appreciate that about God’s word. it took me a while but I finally got home and started studying. It’s like it’s wonderful but you were my idol we had a band in the 90s and we played about your songs I seen you at least five times in Houston. I wish y’all would get back together for one more tour and I will pray. God bless you Mark Farner and your family. my name is Remy might remember might not but I’ll never forget love is all you need! In my mind GFR will always be Mark Don & Mel . To this day , 67 and counting I still listen to my albums . As with any relationship LOVE is what gets you through life. I would pay top dollar to see GFR play together again . Until then…….. I can feel him in the morning …………………………………🎶

He came to town a couple years back. Great show. Mark Farner was and is GFR.

I enjoyed this very much. You are a good host and Mark has such a heart for Jesus and I am glad he has forgiven those who hurt him in the past. A great lesson for all of us . Personally I think the only way for a GFR reunion is if Mel and Don get saved like Mark did many years ago. Anyway thx for sharing this .

Footstompin music was almost my high schools song at lunch time everybody cranked up their 8 traks

I just love Mark! He lives up here in northern Michigan in God's Country!

I love Mark Farner so much. He was/is my first guitar hero. He just blew me away. It wasn't Jimmy Page. It wasn't Eric Clapton. It wasn't Pete Townsend. It was Mark Fredrick Farner. Mark could have been successful as just a guitar player or just a singer. I have never been "star struck" in the least by any means. And I've encountered a lot of famous people: KISS, Tommy Shaw, and Robin Williams to name a few, but if I ever met Mark I think my knees would buckle.

Was never able to see these guys live but sure love there music since 1974-76 HS. On the note of bands getting back together after years of inactivity, some members just feel “been there done that” and really have no interest in rehashing past shit. Just the way it is!

I was fortunate enough to see Mark Farners American Band 2 times. AWESOME!!!!!!

I cut my teeth on GFR. They are why I practiced guitar! I'm no where near what I should be,. but playing makes me happy. GFR started it all for me. SO SAD to lose such a band. Keep trying Mark. We all have faith in you and the band.

Love is unconditional, I can't not change the past, or live in the past. Hate, revenge I give it away to those who think they deserve it. My life is to light force of love, forgiveness I accept & give. My eyes are open to the hear & now the wonder of it all, a drug you can not buy or need I am free.

I saw them in Lewisville TX at Texas Pop, 1969, I was 16. Theres only one G.F.R. ..Its pretty amzing to me that a guy in the band cant even see that..Drummers! lol

Will mark ever do a meet and greet session? There is a huge following of G.F.R Fans like me since 1969 and I even went to shea in 72 and I still have all their albums
