@@longbranch11207 Back to back tumbling passes are banned and gymnasts are doing 4 tumbling passes than 2 like Dawes and this routine would probably have a start value in the threes or fours

Remember, there were successful American gymnasts prior to those in this millennium. In fact, Dominique Dawes, along with John Roth, are the last two Americans to make 3 Olympic teams. This routine highlights one of the iconic elements in gymnastics history, the double pass on floor. One of the DD's legacies she left the sport. Thank you USA gym for adding these older videos.

some of us older gymnastics fans love being able to watch videos of our magnificent 7. i was just a little girl when they won, and i remember every minute of it! they are female gymnastics legends. in 20 years you won't be complaining about fierce five videos, because you'll be able to reminisce about how amazing they were. and lets be real, the scoring was so much easier to understand back then!!

That leotard is on point

Sometimes when I get down on myself I think of this routine years later. Great stuff from the one and only Dominique Dawes!!

The GREATEST TUMBLER EVER!

Her music selection was perfect, esp the climatic orchestration that matched her opening tumble runs! Still makes me -smile with goose bumps- happy!

I absolutely adore this routine from Dominique-- tumbling, choreo, everything.

I'd love to see her perform with the current COP scoring system that rewards difficulty. There's no doubt she could have done far more difficult tumbling. Brilliant!

Are you blind? Whipping into a double twist then tumbling into a 2.5 isnt nearly as difficult as aly's pass. Tiring, yes. But not diffucult.

Jo Momma Difficulty as far as how it’s rated on the CoP yes. However, the rating in the CoP isn’t always the best measure of how “difficult” something is. Connecting two back-to-back passes together like this with six acrobatic elements is extremely difficult (both the timing/execution, and the endurance). There’s a reason why even back in this era when it was worth something most gymnasts wouldn’t do it. Daniela Salivas did something similar, although she repeated the same elements. But nobody did this type of combination tumbling the way that Dawes did it (before or after).

Something tells me getting an Olympic GOLD medal was more of a highlight. This was spectacular, but the Olympics is something else entirely.

Dominique had 2 changes to win the all around title at the world championship in 1993 and 94,but that inconsistency cost her. At the 1996 Olympics, the same thing, she was leading after 2 rotations and she fell out of bounds on floor exercise. She did make it up in the event finals. My heart was beating so much that night

Did you guys ex-ray Dominque’s legs to see if they are made of rubber. She truly was Awesome. She’s an excellent speaker, but she seemed so quiet at her meets. She’s like that all American girl. She has such a beautiful family. In the 90s, she and Shannon were the Cream of the Crop!! I enjoyed their style more than the 2021 style, but I don’t need to make harsh remarks about the style of our current team.

Don't get me wrong, but Dominique hits sometimes and sometimes it falls apart. And also the judges were unfair. Shannon Miller was the top gymnast of the day, and the judges would over score her

Has anyone ever had better height on their jumps.
