Dominique Dawes was a superstar based upon her fx. She got standing ovations everywhere she went. Dawes covered the entire floor with skills that's why she was the real deal.

One of the BEST to EVER do it!!! I feel Dominque is a severely underrated gymnast in history. WOW, just WOW!!!

I LOVED her floor exercises. She was the only gymnast that I'd ever seen tumble like that. 1:25 "Her first tumbling pass-it goes on forever!"

That little girl did little posing and vogueing...just pure talent and hard work !!! She earned the name Awesome Dawson !!! YESSS!!- THE BEST !!!

She was the only gymnast that I know of to do tumble like this.

There were a couple of Russian girls in the mid-80s that were doing this. She made it famous though. This back-to-back thing is banned now. She messed up her ankles on that.

@@Karla_Marie Oksana Omelianchik was the first to do a back to back tumbling sequence, however it wasn't nearly as difficult as what we see here. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqCV1Y-xf9u0oKw.html&t Daniela Silivas was the next gymnast to a back to back sequence similar to this, and Dominique Dawes was inspired by her. kzread.info/dash/bejne/i66py6irlKuvoM4.html Dominique elevated the difficulty however as she is the only one who combined multiple acrobatic whips into the pass and added a double sommersault at the end of such a complicated sequence. Each one took the back to back tumbling to the next level, but it culminated with Dawes before they essentially banned it from the Code of Points.

She didnt connect them back to back but the only gymnast I can think of to do acrobatic connections with such control was Viktoria Karpenko. Unfortunately she was injured and couldnt bring it at the Sydney Olympics.

Dominique did a perfect line going back up and a perfect line going back down again. Awesome Dominique was the first and than Simone Biles came after her. Never seen anyone person like her that could do those styles of gymnastics.

Gabby was simones inspiration she has said that seeing gabby win made her believe she could do it. So don't just skip over gabby she made history

I found a documentary about her, but a movie would be nice too. Racism probably played a role. Her coach said sponsors ignored her until she started competing in Europe. Then European companies wanted to sponsor her.

Back to back tumbling is no longer allowed in the rules for floor in the modern Code of Points. You are allowed up to 4 tumbling lines, and they cannot connect to each other. And no, Dawes is not the only gymnast who's ever done back to back tumbling, although she does have the most complicated sequence. It was first done by Oksana Omelianchik in the mid 80's and then later by Daniela Silivas (who was Dominique Dawes' favorite gymnast). @@captainbryce1 you are somewhat right but it's just too dangerous that is dangerous to that is very hard to do so whoever does it they are a good strong powerful gymnast in very few people can do that because it's dangerous and it's hard to do

@@captainbryce1 very true she wasn't the first but she made it famous around the world and that's how she got her fame. Literally remember being in spain 92 when she did her floor the crowd around us went nuts she really took the back to back passes to another level. Also the passes could be done but has to have a dance skill between the passes
