Regarding the Leo, would those guys actually fare well with a GSS in heat 3? Due to heatpower, being able to cast phoenix pyre with a gem, and being so quick to get from out of fort labs.

One more use for the Leo. He can lead troops around without fear of being yoinked by the Winged Monkeys spell. Rare circumstance but its something.

You know what, absolutely right. I vividly remember yoinking Pythian centurions with winged monkeys in a game before.

I believe there is a place for temple training hatchlings during expension. Lance catchers, softening up troops so your encumbered infantry don't have to fight that long, the upkeep is ignorable if you only pay a few turns. Haven't been able to do with consistent success but there might be some cool tricks.

Oooh, suggested a new dominions channel from Lucid's. For once, the algorithm does a good job! Looking forward to watching this, always hungry for more dom stuff, so i'ma sub (double entendre intended)

The only time I knew of someone who won a multiplayer game with the sacred hydras was during the youtuber dominions multiplayer game, the LA Pythium player was Sabouts. It wasn't won through the might of the Hydras though, Sabouts was surrounded by players that were quite new and very conservative in terms of going to war. He in fact didn't go to war until the very end when he rushed for the thrones. Also, he had Kris Lighthawk helping him as a partner.

how come my dom 10 La rl'yeh wasn't a fun neighbour ? :'( i'm hurt my dear zan :) great guide tbh, pretty happy to see a fair approach to La pythium and not biased by the hearsay opinion that plagues the dominion community. It's definitely a tricky nation, but tools are many, and research speed is rather nutty actually, if you got a good understanding of timing, I feel it can be really scary.

The assasins would be hillarious quipped with bless bottle, swiftness boots and 3x swiftness bless

Limitanei/Comitatenses system were used in both parts of the late roman empire not only in western part. Good video though. :)

The few times I have seen La Pythium played and the one time I really tried to play them , it all ended up feeling like they bring a knife to a gun fight. Thematically they are great but that mage core is such a mixed bag. Lastly , considering who they can come up against in the late age, it seems like an exercise in masochism.

Katabasis can also raise your death when they come back. I think Attica also tested it and it was more often than Twiceborn. You sold me on the revelers. I forgot you can stack them all in one place. I think the serpant assassins can also kill commanders who are sieging your forts. Which is fun. Serpent Cataphracts are your only access to troops who can have magic weapons. Taxation is theft. Hydra might make good counter thugs if the leo didn't exist. Just to gush over Comitatense even more, most attacks hit its shield which means you're not actually dealing with 15 prot, you're dealing with 30. Their moral is usually over 12 since all their commanders have either high leadership or inspiration. In friendly territory, that's 14 with centurion, 15 with the other two. They never run and I love it. Add the fact your main paths are almost all buffing paths and getting into earth is *relatively* easy, these guys would probably be one of the best units in a good nation if it wasn't that everyone else in this age has 'better' gimmicks. God I wish I was actually good at this game.

@@ZanGames after watching the tournament and a few other games I see why! I think part of my problem is I'm thinking the midgame comes at turn 12 which I'm starting to realize is not the case. You just want to be in a decent position by then so you don't get eaten first. Hopefully.

@@Kaiser282 Timing is a huge part of dominions that I am loosely aware of, but need to put into paper one day. I think a lot of players are oblivious to it. The most important parts I'm up to is that early/mid/lategame occur at different times for different nations. With this in mind, just be very aware of your neighbors(and their timings), and make sure you don't finish expansion with a shoestring army. Being large and looking weak is not a good spot.

@@nicolinrucker5181 Plenty of battlefield wipes don't care about stygian rains, so I'm not sure why using them would increase its value, if anything it would go down.
