Hahaha, maybe some day. Would be a lul fest because I'm rather sure i cant make asphodel work. Its probably second worst nation in the game.

I like Yomi a lot as a nation. I think Dominions needs nations like this. I like how they have distinct weaknesses but also good strengths. Unique playstyle, lots of options and personalized spells. That said they could drop the 25% income penalty maybe

Today i learn that yomi is a hatocracy. The bandit is better cuz he wears a hat.

Kappa are also kind of interesting because their second attack cripples.

Yeah they are agreed to be weak in vanilla. I got some ideas for them though.

5:58 I just started playing Dominions 5(having only played 3 and 4 before) and i was pleasantly surprised that non-magic commanders are actually important now. Not only in that good leaders are more valuable(that was introduced in Dom4 iirc, whith morale bonus and advanced formations), but being able to survive a stray arrow or fight off a couple of enemy mooks is suddenly a desirable trait. To such an extent that forging helmets, shields and amulets of giant(sometimes even better body armor) for your non-mages is actually a thing now.

Where do you get the illustrations for each series? They generally seem similar in style, do you make them or know someone who does? Either way, this one looks pretty awesome.

I started playing multiplayer, in part, because of you announcing this series! I really hope I can get into the next one! On the other hand, it's awesome that I can watch without feeling cheaty.

Seeing the start of a new Lucid series is always exciting! Happy to see this is some flavourful nation and not another undead one.

I hate to ask this and maybe this is in one of these videos and I just missed it. As a disciple nation, will you get any of the freespawn oni? I was just reading about Dominion in the manual and it calls out an exception for EA Yomi on page 103

What mods do you play? And why didn't you mention it or did i miss sth.? "Fuykane" - Bandit King is definately from the Worthy Heroes mod and I am pretty sure that diseased ring with tmpastralgem is not in vanilla either

Yeah i almost always play with two mods: Worthy heroes - because FLAVOR. And Lucid's Temp Gem Gen - because gem burning attacks are broke

They are in-depth and one sees that you really know/enjoy what you are doing. A minor point I would like to mention though is the music you put into the background. Especially with your bandar log LP it is really annoying. So maybe no music or vanilla (which is even after 1000 times quiet enjoyable)?

This one I announced on the channel, normally I post in steam or the Dom 5 discord channel so you gotta lurk there.

It would be hilarious if freespawn nations had to pay upkeep on those spawned troops. Real balancing act with scales instead of dumping. Plus you'd want to use them ASAP, instead of stockpiling up mega armies.

LA R'lyeh has the upkeep issue on its units. Absolutely maddening. Freespawn aquatic units you cant rid of but have to pay, with popkill dominion... no wonder everyone in rlyeh is insane

Well the E is silent. So then i guess the question is: is there a difference between the souch of ICH and ITCH - to which i dont know the answer, but i cant hear the difference.

I was considering buying this game. But the videos I've tried to look up on it have everybody going into exhaustive detail about how the game works, and what each individual unit is used for. It's kind of sucked out the original curiosity. I mean, I get the game is complicated for beginners, but spending almost a full hour explaining the mechanics, without actually showing off any gameplay is a bit too much.

Yeah its a super complicated game. Theres a ton of game play in later videos, but if you want to know all the stuff a nation can do but dont want to watch the game play - well thats why i do national overviews. Also, these overviews are meant more for people who play the game - im not sure what i would make of them if i hadnt played the game before - it would probably seem like a lot of pointless babble :P

Sorry for resurrecting this old comment, but I'm commenting more for other people curious about this game. As a beginner, don't watch in-depth reviews like this (for factions, for magic etc.). This game is too complex, you cannot understand the information provided in here. However, there are a few guides for new players, both as videos or as articles on the internet. Really do look for them. They will get you started. Pick a recommended nation, discover the basic mechanics of the game (and focus on them only, don't try to do too much at once). Only after that, then you will be able to start looking one by one onto more advanced mechanics like the ones detailed in these review videos. I know it sounds ridiculous, but this game is a gem after you've taken the time and effort to learn it. I'm 100h in, single player only, so I'm still very much a newbie, but now I see the potential and it's huge.

Btw Lucid should have high fire access this game..... revenge of the Flames from the Sky. Press the big red button and cleanse the world with nuclear fire

I hope he does. I would like to know if he thinks it is overpowered when he uses it. Sometimes a strategy seems super strong until you use it yourself and see the downside.

I've used it a few times before in games - in fact several of the other scelaria games (not the current scelaria series) i end up using it. Its crippling against human sized nations. I felt bad using it tbh. Using it with Yomi would be cool - but Yomi has lots of things it needs to research and very little economy to actually get research done and Evo 9 is really expensive. I don't know if i emphasize it enough in this video but: you lose 25% income just for being Yomi, then your freespawn and good commanders cause unrest making you lose more money, then you can even build decent forts to get some admin bonus. You can forge research boosters - which is kinda the only thing you got going for ya there.

@@dartimosthatsit6001 Yeah - I mean there are a lot of things that aren't really balanced in dominions so its kinda par for the course. But I don't like it as a game mechanic - human mage nations have it hard enough -> having a spell that destroys half of an armies mages - half of their gems - half of their items - disrupts the movement of troops under their command - then potentially killing the other half cause they show up in a battle they can no longer win. Its not really a fun game mechanic. The same way that rain of stones / rain of stones traps in dom 4 werent really a fun mechanic that punished human nations too much. (and they changed it for that reason)That said, it is nice having a reason to go for evo 9. So - I mean its in the game - you can play around it sort of. But if you are a human nation vs it prepare to pay a hefty hefty toll. Off the top of my head for balancing - I would have it only target 20% of the commanders and 50% of the troops. That would keep it very strong, but make it less damning, maybe reduce the cost down from 30 - 25 if you really want to keep it strong.

I don't think I have ever heard so many innacurate statements about a Dom 5 nation. Kind of shocking coming from an "expert" player, or so some people conjecture.

@@meteerdogan1478 Yomi as a nation was changed quite a lot. In fact the game itself has evolved with new nations and updates since that review. Also, there are no experts in this game. Just some who know a bit more than others and some who know a lot more. Ultimately, it comes down to playing the game and having fun.
