She's a icon of The Smoky Mountains. She wrote over 3000 songs throughout her career. She's a hillbilly just like me.

The message behind this comes from her real life story...one of 12 children born in abject poverty, Dolly's story is more than a little story about a coat...it's about being humble, loving, & kind AND about what's important in life...great choice for picks...thanks for playing

Loretta had her Coal Miners Daughter while Dolly had her coat of many colors made by her mama. IMO. Both the most beautiful loving and important songs to each lady.

Dolly Parton is a country legend who has been recording & writing songs since the 60's. Love her storytelling songs the most like "Jolene" & "Coat Of Many Colors". She has had so many hits such as "I Will Always Love You", "Yellow Roses", "My Tennessee Mountain Home", "9 To 5", "Here You Come Again" etc. She did a lot of great duets with Kenny Rogers & Porter Wagoner. She also collaborated with Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris & they released a few "Trio" albums.

Reminds me of Joseph as well and his coat of many colors. So special it’s so important to bring spirituality and Jesus into music. ✝️❤

Dolly Parton - I can't add much more then what I see already. Lots of great songs & a great actress. I am a fan of hers. She also wrote - "I Will Always Love You" - The song that Whitney Houston is famous for. Well at least one of them because Whitney is also famous for doing what many consider the greatest performance of the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl which was released as a single and a top hit. Her profits going to charity.

Alot of people don't know that she Wrote the Whitney Houston hit I will always love you. There is also a video of her doing it in her angelic voice that is not the powerhouse version that Whitney does but it's powerful in Dolly's sweet way

@@SarahDengler Whitney and Dolly performed the song as a duet the year Whitney won an Oscar for her version. She acknowledged Dolly as the writer and thanked her for allowing her to record such a beautiful well written song

@@williamfowler8439 Never heard that story. I read that Whitney was quite rude to Dolly. When Dolly rang her up to congratulate her on the successful of her (Dolly's) song. Whitney let her know that it wasn't her song anymore. So the performance on the Oscar show must've been a big persuasion by Clive Davis.

I've never been a big fan of country music, but Dolly Parton has always been such a huge talent and nice person, I can't help but like her and her music! A song from her early days I would suggest is the original album version of "The Bridge". Few seem to know this song, but it has an impact on you that you'll never forget.

Sarah, you really need to go to Dollywood in Sevierville TN. They do a 15-20 minute skit on this song. Very interesting.

There were a few Christmas specials made of DP's childhood about 5 to 10 years ago and this song was acted out in one of those specials with a young actor playing DP. It's probably on yt?
