i live in the netherlands and i like auro 3d i have the denon avr x6400h and i have the xbox series x. and the ps5, everything i play i do in auro 3d itself if the game supports dolby atmos, auro 3d is so much more better. you hear more from the height speakers, and I miss that a lot with dolby atmos. so i do everything in auro 3d. I love it when I'm really in that bubble of sound really beautiful

All the people commenting on here like “this is moot because Auro3D didn’t catch on” or “you guys are dead wrong”. 1. Past performance is a very poor indicator for future results. Sometimes technology catches on and takes off. And sometimes it takes decades for that tech to “break through”. 2. These guys have listened to this in real world examples. I trust them over you. 3. If you’re setting up a new theater, why not make your setup adaptable to both with height channels instead of in-speaker overheads?

Just watched Fomo and his Auro-matic up mixer discussion. Sounds like it doesn't matter if you have dedicated Auro 3 D content since the up mixer is great fun on all content.

I am fortunate to have two setups. My main Focal setup is a 7.1.4 is pure Atmos configuration with in ceiling speakers and duel subs. My 2nd system (Bowers & Wilkins 705) is in a pure 5.1.4 Auro configuration with duel subs. I will say that having the speakers in the Auro configuration definitely does not hamper the Atmos experience. Native Auro3D sounds fantastic. Re: the up mixer, my initial impressions was that Auromatic upmixer just played the same bed layer info on the top layer minus the center channel. But I could be wrong! Going to do some heavy comparisons this weekend.

Interesting topic, up until today, I haven't heard anything on Auro 3D, I'm from the south of Mexico and none of my friends from around have home theater actually 😅

So Tecnho Dad says that his Denon AVR X6400H support 5.1+5+1 auro speaker configuration?

I've only heard Atmos vs DTSX in my home, and Atmos sounds more realistic, in terms of less aggressive sounds, I feel it like, with more ambience...(I don't know how to say it) and DTSX s more like aggressive sounding, at least comparing between 4K discs with those mixes.

Maybe that set up makes it sound like "outside"? Not object placement.

Even if you hear Atmos content through an Auro3D speaker layout you cannot say that this is better because this is an Atmos master. That means that you are hearing in a different db level because the speakers are further away than Atmos and also the positioning is wrong because on a speakers based setup you are checking an object based master. This is totally wrong guys.

The AVR level matches based on distance. Like was stated previously, 30 degree height speakers IS within the Dolby Atmos spec.

I like Auro3D for upmixing music, but this conversation is moot. Auro3D will be gone in a few years because it never arrived in the US in the first place. Hollywood barely uses Atmos effectively, let alone Auro3D, and DTS is disappearing now after dominating the last sound format battle.

Auro upmixer works on all content...even old 5.1. It also works on Atmos content.

I hate to agree to this but I believe it's about the US attention span. Dolby is also the problem here...major licensing issues and power here

Have you try to talk with Dolby to check what they have to say about. The truth is never on one side.

I just setup a 5.1.6 with vog and center height and the auro upmixer blows away the bad atmos soundtracks for me. The algorithm seems to me, so much better than the crap rushed atmos sound guys are throwing out. We all wish the time and money was spent to do atmos correct all the time, but so far they won't invest and for me I prefer auro. I was fortunate that I didn't already have atmos heights and just got back into AV now the kids are older and so I experimented with correct auro placement at 30 degrees then moved my speakers to atmos spec and sampled my movies and it was clear to me an entire immersive field was created over me in my 20 foot ceilings. If atmos gets better, then I'll click the atmos button on the remote instead of the auro button.
