What a helpful, well-presented video! As always, thank you - your videos are the best I know of. Ps I have to admit when I put my western saddle away I just flipped the strap over the seat. This is a much neater, better for the leather technique, I will definitely use it from now on.
I like to create an air space before tightening the cinch, by lifting the pad and tucking it into the gullet of the saddle....it keeps the pad from binding across the withers as well as allowing air to get under the pad at the withers! I think this is more comfortable for the horse.Judy

Totally!
Love Albert's face at about the 4.20 mark "Geez buddy are you done yet" lol.
What a sweetheart of a horse
Awesomeness! I really like your explanation and practical approach!
So flipping brilliant!! It makes me nuts when I go into the barn where I board, pick up the Western saddle that I always use and someone has tied the girth in all kinds of crazy knots that I have to untie before I can use the saddle and tie my cinch. This is so BRILLIANTLY SIMPLE and EASY! I'm definitely sharing this video with folks at the barn.haha :)
Good video for beginners. Thx for the help.
Thank you, this is the most helpful video I've seen :)
Albert is the only horse we own.
What a good boy Albert
Yes, I always hear him say "My wife's horse, Albert" and it always made me wonder if he had his own more experienced horse but he chose to use Albert all the time because Albert is still in training =P
My trainer taught me this exact way years back lol, it's super easy and convenient

Ariel booplesnoop app is great 👍 I have a little problem getting the money 💴 was my day off to a little while I think 💭 app would
Ive never used a western saddle b4 and cant wait to get one. Excuse my English thinking but does the girth not come lose with the prong that goes through the hole ? Our English saddles are so mych easier lol but dont look anywhere near as good :) also are the styrup straps able to be altered ?
Usuing this for now on. Wish I knew about this back when I first started riding in the saddle!! Thannks for this video!
It's a cinch on a western saddle. Also, if you tuck the loop in behind like you show, you can tie the latigo in a cowboy knot so the saddle can be carried without the latigo coming loose.
How do you do up the other side of the girth, No one shows it anywhere. I have a new saddle with a western girth and I have figure out how to do as per video above but how do I do up the off side first?
The top ring of the girth after cinching is very close to the saddle. What if you need to tighten it after you warm-up? Don't you run out of space? Is the girth too long? Thanks!
I noticed that you used the holes in the latigo to do up the cinch, is that your personal preference or is does the knotting it cause issues???
Hi Warwick - I recently watched someone sinch a western saddle with a nylon latigo, which was less bulky. What are your thoughts on that?

Ive used them before.
Isn't the girth too close to the horse's front legs?? Wont it hurt him? (not critizing Im just really curious)

Gaming by SnOwBall I'm late, it's been 4 months but no, it does not hurt the horse. If it did, it would let us know 😂
thanks for this video warwick! It's really really helpful! Btw, are you sick? your voice doesnt sound the best on this video.
But you didn't show us how to actually do it. Camera too far away we can't see what your doing sadly. Thankyou though, some great tips in there ☺
I have kind of a silly question. You use Albert in a lot of your videos, but do you have your own experienced horse? Seems like it would be the lonely life of a trainer; spend all your time riding and training everyone else's horses and no time to have your own =(
Cinching. Where did old vernacular go? Never mind

Well when you deal with several countries, you have to talk in the language everyone understands. The Aussies understand the American terms, but the Americans dont always understand the Aussie ones. So I go with that.
