Hi, I'm Amy Comer and welcome to my channel, formerly known as BlueRose Kennels/Show2Win. My goal is to provide useful tips, tricks, tutorials and product reviews for the Dog Show Community as well as all dog lovers who want to learn something new.
This video is meant to help train you what a courtesy turn is and if you should do one when moving your dog. I also review 2 other common techniques to start your dog on the move. Also added in is a little taste of free stack training. I hope this information is useful and you've learned some new techniques.
3 common techniques to start to move your dog in a pattern:
1. Straight way
2. Courtesy Turn
3. Side start
Try all 3 ways and choose the one that feels best for you and your dog.

Both! Really good tips. Do you have to stack a golden and hold his tail out? My boy stacks beautifully but breaks it the moment I try to hold his tail.

I can't move in a straight line so usually do a courtesy turn to line myself up 👍

Both! Thanks for this video - it’s exactly what I needed. I saw a fourth method where the handler backs away from the judge then turns in toward the dog and does the down and back. Any thought on that style? Can’t wait for more free stacking help!

Keep lifting up their rear and saying stand stay. Reward the puppy when they do it right. Repetition of this will help.
