Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Buddy the Bulldog is a dog cancer success story, and against the formidable foe hemangiosarcoma no less!
When Buddy was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, Laura and Richard were devastated. Even worse, he did very poorly after his first chemo treatment. With chemotherapy now off the table, they changed tactics and focused on general well-being and quality of life. A year and a half later, Buddy is still thriving!
Listen in to hear the full story, along with a discussion of median survival times and how you can approach your dog’s cancer journey one step at a time.

November of 2022 my lab mix was acting strange so I took her to the vet. Her stomach was extended and hard. The vet removed her spleen two days later. We got the results a week later of hemangiosarcoma. They told us she had maybe two months to live. We changed her to the farmers dog food and some supplements. We never did chemo. She is still with us and it's been 17 months. No one would even know she has cancer.

What a great share! It's a perfect example of how statistics do not apply to individuals and we should never think they do. This is a main message we hope to impart -- that the prognosis of "two months" is just the halfway mark in the range of possible outcomes! www.dogcancer.com/articles/diagnosis-and-medical-procedures/median-survival-time-meaning/

I’m so happy for Buddy and his parents. My dog was diagnosed with lymphoma around the same time as Buddy and he is also still here, eating a homemade keto diet (fatty fish, meat, eggs, some veg, no carbs at all as cancer feeds on glucose). They said with chemo he had 6-12 months. We did chemo for a year, it went into remission but when it came back we decided against more chemo as he had become so unwell with it. I do believe the diet has a lot to do with keeping our boy happy and as healthy as he can be with the lymphoma and slowing its growth as much as possible.

My dog has a very rare cancer that acts like lymphoma. He is only 5 years old . And has so much life and fight left in him .we had to amputate his right leg due to the tumor going in his muscles . Now were they removed his leg there’s a tumor there the size of the average persons head. The tumors are starting to get lesions and opening of his skin and it smells so bad . I love him so much we just tried Tanovea. I’m praying for the best but I feel like if he didn’t have that tumor I’m talking about he would be so much happier and I think it would make his lifespan longer . Please help me

We're so sorry to hear about your dog. What a tough situation you and he are in. We wish we had a magic wand that could just take it all away! Instead, we have articles, which hopefully will help you to cope and stay hopeful. Here's our article on Tanovea: www.dogcancer.com/articles/drugs/tanovea-rabacfosadine-chemotherapy/ There's a good section on side effects and how to manage them: www.dogcancer.com/side-effects/ And it sounds like taking a hospice mindset might be a good idea. This does NOT mean you are giving up on treatment -- it means you are proactively keeping your pup healthy and happy. Here's an article about hospice: www.dogcancer.com/articles/hospice-and-end-of-life/hospice-for-dogs/ You're doing great, dad. Just keep listening and trying.
