Dog Breeding: Linebreeding, Inbreeding, and Cross-Breeding with

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

#linebreeding #inbreeding #outcrossing
School boy discussed many aspects of dog breeding, with a focus on proper techniques and avoiding common pitfalls. When starting a breeding program, the breeder's experience and track record are most important. Strong game drive and finishing ability were seen as top traits to select for. Crossbreeding can produce great athletes when the lines share similar desired traits.
Inbreeding and linebreeding were explained, noting the need for healthy stock and selecting the best individuals. Old-timers sometimes waited until a dog's career ended to breed. Youth was also prioritized for breeding age. Performance records were highly valued over pedigrees alone. Kennel blindness and losing sight of flaws in one's own line was cautioned against.
Outcrossing was recommended for introducing new traits or blood, then bringing the cross back into the foundation lines over generations. Proper selection and raising quality pups generation after generation was emphasized for success in dog breeding. The discussion provided useful guidance and examples for developing a top breeding program.

    So gameness isn't something u breed in to a dog? It's more like breeding self preservation out of them?

  • @richardgarciaschoolboy7746

    @richardgarciaschoolboy7746

    Ай бұрын

    You can increase the odds of gameness by breeding the ones that have it but gameness has already been developed in them. It's just a matter of finding out which ones have it and which ones don't.

    I did an inbreeding in 2015 with the bully’s! My worst outcome was demodex mange. All the puppies recovered on their own! But if you sell a puppy to another breeder there gonna try and throw you underneath the bus if there not a real breeder. Any breeder knows if your messing around with that type of breeding your taking a risk and the haters will show there face!!!!

    Females should be at least 2 years before being bred and only once per year but only 3 or 4 litters in their lifetime and after 5 years old they should not get pregnant. Thats a responsible approach if you love your animals. 20+ pregnancies is crazy. Just cause you can doesn’t mean you should.

    There are plenty of studies that prove breeding back to back is better for the female than skipping heats. I agree with you on your other points. I’ve bred working line European Dobermanns for over 20 years. I always start at 2yo and they are done by 6yo. 7-8 litters tops.
