    How come I suspect that your Sorrels line might in someways be an improvement on the original? To me improving the line just seems like something you would end up doing. Another thing I'm still trying to figure out, you don't breed for aesthetics yet the Pitbulls I've seen on your channel are in my opinion the best looking pits I've seen. I'm guessing some kind of weird coincidence, or something.

    He improves on them in desired traits hes breedingthem for not the line itself and what he neant about not breeding for looks is he doesn't breed for color his dogs bred for a certain kind of performance so their bodies show the signs of being worked up

    We breed for performance...and listen to the results by selecting those that work the best. The looks falls where it is, and we, like nature, accept those results.

    Thank you for another educational video. Curious to hear your opinion on breeds like Dogo Argentino, lighter/smaller Cane Corsos and Presa Canarios, and American Bulldogs; and how you would compare them to American Sentinel.

  • @APBT-Bandog

    @APBT-Bandog

    7 ай бұрын

    If I thought any of those breeds were superior to either the American Sentinel or the APBT, I would not bother with the American Sentinel...and while I certainly have no interest in talking down about other breeds of dogs, my honest opinion is both the APBT and the American Sentinel far outperform all the breeds you mentioned for four primary reasons...gameness, athleticism, and heat tolerance, and mental stability.

    I know you have some dogs you recommend as "pet grade", while others are more intense. Which is your goal, to produce pet grade, ultra intense ones or in-between? And what are your current dogs missing, or is it less about missing and more about improving and touching up (if you already are producing your goal but want to improve on a few things)?

  • @APBT-Bandog

    @APBT-Bandog

    7 ай бұрын

    I am not interested in "pet grade" animals unless those pets are also apex performers...why, well there is no reason why an apex dog cannot both excel at work and also be a great companion. I have no desire in pets that cannot work. As far as where we are...our animals work exceptionally well in every regard, but one should always try to make the razor sharper and more durable.

    Linebreeding is a form of inbreeding and its goal is the same, to increase the appearance of recessive traits that are manifest within a desired ancestor by increasing homozygosity in the offspring. Linebreeding is only effective because it increases homozygosity, that is the mechanism through which it works to “fix” traits. Homozygosity is directly causative to recessive allele expression. Homozygosity “fixes” recessive traits without distinction to their merits. “Good” and “bad” alleles are doubled up just the same and at random.

  • @APBT-Bandog

    @APBT-Bandog

    5 ай бұрын

    It isn't just about increasing recessives. When combined with selection, inbreeding and line-breeding can also increase homozygosity of desired dominant traits as well.
