    I say it just adds a little corn syrup and unnecessary calories..i used to use mustard as a binder . But I realized it was just a comp trick to get the rub to stick quickly..I stopped using it and just put my rub on and let it absorb and sweat out for at least 15 minutes to a half hour or so before I start cooking out. Mustard was/is pointless IMO

    First, thanks for watching! I feel the same way! well, I should say that I think it just adds an unnecessary step to the whole prep process. In the video I do say that the mustard binder butt did have a bit more smoke flavor but I’m not sure it’s enough “more” to be worth the effort. I still don’t add a binder to butts.
